Izzy's Adventures in Telling Her Loved Ones!
I thought it'd be cool to write Izzy telling Maddie.
Isabella drummed her fingers nervously on the counter. She was waiting for a pizza to cook and her sister to make her slow ass to the apartment. Tonight was that night Izzy was going to tell her. Explain about all the weird absences and random injuries. It would probably be a hell of a lot easier explaining being a hopeful than it was explaining that she was a stripper. Probably.
A soft bzz sounded to alert Izzy to the finished pizza. She looked around the kitchen trying to find a hot pad. Izzy sighed and stretched her shirt out so she could use that as a hot pad. Bracing herself she grabbed the pan and moved it quickly to the counter. "Fuckin, ouch!" She cried as she set the pan down. "motherfucker.." She mumbled as a familiar face peeked in the door. "Is your hand alright?" Her sister asked as she let herself in. Izzy shrugged. "Maybe, or maybe it's going to become infected and I'm going to be a zombie. You'll have to put me out right away to save the world. I hope you're okay with that." She said picking a pepperoni off the pizza and popping it in her mouth. Maddie laughed. "I would come up with a cure before I would let that happen."
Izzy smiled brightly. It was nice to know her sister always had her back. She'd shown it when she came out to her parents and she knew it would hold steady as she explained the hopeful thing. "Ready for movie time and some pizza?" Izzy asked. It was a silly question. She knew the answer and was already cutting the pizza. "Pick something and I'll be in with the pizza." Maddie nodded and made her way into the living room. Izzy bit her lip and leaned against the counter. Maybe it was best to just get it out of the way. Like, blurt it out or something? Her eyes fell to the floor and she took a deep breath. This was way harder than she thought it was going to be. She looked up as she heard her sisters footsteps return to the kitchen. "What's up with you, Iz? You're being all weird. And not your normal weird." Izzy laughed. "Madeline. I got something to tell you."
Maddie stiffened. They only used each others' full names when it was something serious. She crossed her arms and leaned against the counter opposite her sister. "Are you going to tell me you're a stripper? Because honestly I've known for awhile, Jimmy told me. He went to Deja Vu one night with some friends and-" Izzy rose a hand and shook her head successfully cutting her off. "No. This is...honestly. You're not going to believe me." Izzy pulled her hair around her shoulder and began to play with it. "You know how I've been weird recently. We haven't been talking as much, and I seem to always be busy and when I do find time I have to woosh out?" She asked slowly. Maddie nodded. "Yeah, mom and I have been talking about it. Mostly we've been taking bets on drugs vs sketchy fiancee."
Izzy glared at her sister. "That's not funny. Or nice." Maddie shrugged. "Just spit it out. What's up? Are you Batman?" Izzy laughed. "More Sailor Moon." Maddie rolled her eyes. "Come on Iz. What does that even mean? Knock it off and just tell me." She scolded. Izzy shrugged. "I did. I'm a magical girl. I have a nakama that I work with and we go out and fight crime. I transform and I can shoot these tiny daggers and make myself difficult to see, and I've gotten extra good at picking locks, although that was a skill I had before..."
"Isabella Elizabeth Evans. Stop. Why would you pretend you had something to tell me like that? I was legitimately worried, and if you actually think you're some sort of superhero maybe mom and I need to get you back to that shrink." She snapped, anger poured from Maddie. She didn't like when her sister played these silly games. She'd always had a huge imagination but she was an adult now and it was childish to play such games. The way she had been talking Maddie was afraid someone was dying. She was afraid Izzy was dying and it just irked her. Izzy always did this. She always lived in her own little world, void of any real responsibility. It got under her skin.
Izzy scoffed. "I'm telling the truth. Like, I've been shot." She said lifting up her shirt to display her newest scar. "Why would I lie to you?" Maddie shook her head and grabbed her bag. "Okay, I need to leave. Now Izzy. If you want to tell me whatever it is that you're keeping secret, get me when you're ready. Okay?" Izzy rolled her eyes and stepped between Maddie and the door. She took a deep breath and transformed. Her long red hair was replaced with medium length pigtails and her green eyes were gone, instead two blue eyes looked out at Maddie. Instead of the over sized t-shirt and sweats Izzy had been wearing, now she was clad in a beautiful pink and white dress.
Maddie stepped backwards her mouth falling open. "Izzy. What did you do? This has to be some sort of trick. Izzy, you tell me now. And I don't want to hear anything about magic, other than "theatre magic".
Izzy sighed. "I told you. I wasn't lying. I needed to tell you because I had a close call. I could have died and I didn't want you or mom to think that it was because I had gotten in with the wrong crowd, or that you guys had anything to do with it. I'm fighting spooky things. Monstery sorts of things. I need someone to know..." Maddie fell into the closest chair and looked up at her sister. "Oh my god. Isabella! How does this happen! Undo it. You can't be almost dying out there. Stop being a magical whatever." Maddie could feel panic coming upon her. "You can't do something that is going to get you killed. You're lucky I haven't told mom about the stripper thing! You can't expect me to keep this secret too! Isabella no. No. No. No no no no no!"
