Mike Schmidt… normally I don’t go for sloppy loser men but he’s literally a sweetheart? Just taking care of his sister and searching for his brother’s killer? Like okay, a family man, get my lips onto that patchy face already !

Imo my head cannon is his character is too “brooding stressed out older brother man” to be in an established romantic relationship. I imagine he’s probably been avoiding one since Abby came along, which happened after their mom died, meaning he probably hasn’t been dating for a couple years, but who knows, maybe even longer than that….

What we do know is that he’s a guilt ridden, stressed out, protective, hunk of a man. Imagining him paired with someone less grumpy and serious than him would be an entertaining thought. Especially if said sillier character maybe ended up getting hurt at the pizzeria for not listening to Mike and he gets all protective n worried and then scolds her and apologizes for scolding her and then gets all bashful and she just teases him. Idk like a sunshine!gf x grumpy!bf way, except not dating yet, and it’s just all the juicy spicy tension

Anyways yes and yes and yes and yes you are right about all of this. Sunshine reader and Mike are literally the missing key to my heart. Her and abby would be best friends too. Like they’d stay up and have “sleepovers” and do nails and stuff and Mike (who loves abby a whole lot but never let her paint his nails) is just so grateful that she has someone to look up to that isn’t him.

Also the hurt thing. She’s like not that badly injured and sure! It hurts! But Mike is just freaking out because why didn’t she listen??? And oh my god your blood is outside your body and he can’t handle. But ur literally fine and he’s just a little shaken.
