I love Eddie Redmayne’s expressions here. For him, this is a reunion he’s probably imagined countless times - he’s gazing upon his beloved mother, his Seraphi, and you can tell that he’s simply delighted to be near her.

Jupiter, meanwhile, is just tired and understandably freaked out. The one-sided nature of the relationships between Jupiter and Balem and Kalique is truly fascinating, and something I’ve never seen handled in quite the same way. You get unrequited love in many films, of course, but I can’t think of another movie that presents two characters in these positions and with such deeply imbalanced emotional relations to each other.
