So, with your last pic: what's a quick & easy way to describe the girls?
Leigh: Smart nerdy girl who is also a freaky.
Madison: Studious & sassy, a bit prissy.
Alicia: Angry muscle tomboy with a soft side.
Gwendolyn: Lazy dreamer.
Hey I recently saw your art, really nice! Love traditional stuff like yours, keep it up 💖
Oh!
Thank you kindly! I'll continue to do my best!
What are some of the big inspirations for Jango?
That's a fun question! Jango's DNA, much like my art in general, is a amalgamation of a bunch of other (better) artists I've been inspired by over the years. Though, in the grand scheme of things, isn't that most people?
Designwise, my art is built off of Jango as a sort-of lab rat. It's vaguely anime-ish with some design cues from from western animation. That's why Jango is usually drawn with white gloves and why I give my characters detailed eyelids.
Also, the pie-eyes with solid colors.
In terms of personality, I've used to say that Jango is essentially the Joker if he was a heroic character. Which has gotten different reactions since the Joker's personality is wildly different between incarnations.
But the idea is that Jango is a very jolly, cheery, even silly character, but he's not stupid. He's smart, charismatic, tricky. Just that he's a good person who, while not totally selfless, will help people and save the day instead of blowing up hospitals and shipping his tainted blood across Gotham.
...Yeah, writers have been wanting to write Joker more and more like a homicidal monster at worst and a force of chaotic nature at best, so it's no wonder people cock an eyebrow when I describe Jango like that at times, lol.
This made more sense in my younger years when I was RPing Jango with my old friends and Jango often fell into the role of a comic relief. But now that I'm (mostly) flying solo, I feel I've gotten further and further away from that.
Sly Cooper & Arsene Lupin III are probably better ideas of what I'm going for in terms of Jango's personality, Lupin more so. They're both super cool, very slick people who are a perfect mix of Action, Smarts, and Guile, and both are incredibly charismatic flirts.
Lupin is just much more silly. But his silliness doesn't make him any less competent. Lupin bumbles all the time, slips up, has lapses of judgement, and even loses sometimes. But he's still a master thief, incredibly skilled, and, well, a badass. And I think that's the big inspiration that I try to interject when I write Jango nowadays.
So, I guess TL;DR: He's a mix of old cartoons, DCAU Joker, Lupin the Third.
Boom stealth attack question! 😼 Who is your personal hero?! Could be family, friend, celebrity, or even a fictional character! 🙀 who is it and why?
Jeez, what a variety of people to choose from. XD I’d love to have this story about how the Hulk helped me find myself or how Steven Spielberg was my inspiration ever since I saw...well, let me be frank, since I saw Tiny Toon Adventures. But, well, no. It’s my Step-Father, Steve.
And this is your one warning that this is gonna get personal and maybe be a sob story.
So does this mean Star & Sorcery is dead or will be rebranded? With the D&D post and all.
lol, I never said that. XD I just enjoyed D&D and making tons of characters. And, well, if I had to play by myself, it’s not like I can just make a party of 7 Barbarians.
...Well, okay, I CAN, but, like, if you can’t tell, I like thinking of alternate interpretations of characters. But, for my own sake, if all 7 of those OCs were just Barbarians...
Jango - Wild Magic
Henry - Zealot
Ace - Totem Warrior (Eagle-Only Build)
Huckleberry - Battlerager (I don’t care if it’s a Dwarf-Exclusive Subclass, that’s dumb. Rules are more like guidelines)
Blake - Totem Warrior (Wolf-Only Build)
Elio - Storm Herald (Desert-Only Build)
Jericho - Storm Herald (Sea-Only Build)
Here's an OC Question for ya; if Jango, Elio, and Jericho were all part of a D&D Party, how would they operate?
An...interesting question, and it’s got me pondering...
But, first of all, thank you Anon-San for giving me an Ask. And about my OCs no less. XD
So, I’m pretty fluid with my OCs; cause I’d like to play them in actual D&D campaigns and wouldn’t wanna occupy a niche if it’s being held by another player-especially if they put more time and effort into their D&D character than I, who’s just fitting a square lock to fit into a round hole. So let’s break each one down to their Top 3 most likely classes (with an additional top 5 just for funsies).
Jango: Bard, Barbarian, Fighter (, Sorcerer, Warlock)
Elio: Monk, Fighter, Paladin (, Cleric, Artificer)
Jericho: Druid, Wizard, Rogue (, Fighter, Ranger)
Honestly, Jango could play the role of either a Bard or a Barbarian, depending on how I’d wanna play him in D&D. As much as I like Fighters, Jango would most likely play a Bard, probably a College of Glamour Bard-though I might want him to be a Lore Bard. I’d want Jango to have the Charlatan background; perhaps the Prince of a lost Kingdom on a quest to reclaim his birthright-or maybe to slay the man who took what he lost and other such oppressors. Maybe multi-class into a Paladin of Vengeance down the line.
Elio could play really any of his top 3, but to play off of his Sun Motif, I’d rather have him play as a Way of the Sun Soul Monk. I'd want Elio's Monk Powers to be portrayed as something inherited from his Father-like it's this mystical force passed down through his blood line as the 'Sun Soul' or something. He's been hyped up as being destined for greatness in his world minor nobility, but reality, much like dice, are cruel. So with this context, perhaps he'd have the Knight-Variant of the Noble Background.
Finally, Jericho; none of his top 3 are the same for the other 3, which means any of the three are on the table. Might be best for him to play Rogue for diversity’s sake, but nah; I’d want him to play Druid; specifically a Circle of The Moon Druid. Honestly, I just have this big idea of a Water-Themed Druid, since the moon controls the tides and all; perhaps he has a Sailor Background, fell overboard, but was saved by an Undine who taught him the Druid Arts.
So that makes up our party: Jango the Bard, Elio the Monk, Jericho the Druid. This is, like, the bizarro version of the classic Fighter/Wizard/Rogue setup. XD Kind of makes me feel this is the D&D B-Team. Not to say this is a bad formation, just that it’s different.
I’d most likely play all 3 of them as Human-cause I’m boring, lol.
This party would most likely form the same as most parties do: gathering in a tavern. Probably all hired to do a quest and bonding over nearly dying and fighting together.
In combat, I think all three of them can take up the front lines, with Jango and Jericho being more flexible with 'going into the back' when they need to spellcast.
“I hope you’re doing okay with the corona virus going around. Stay safe and healthy!”
So, hehe, sorry to the Anon who sent me this ask. Don’t know when, but I tried to reply and accidentally deleted your question. So, yeah, my bad. (I’m sure that’s not exactly what you said but, like, shitty memory on my end.)
I’m doing okay. The virus hasn’t really changed my life or anything. :P I’m already a borderline hermit who holes himself up in his room all day. No job at the moment (art commissions aren’t a job unless I can live off of them and right now, that’s a hard no) and very little need to go anywhere-not that I really can unless I wanna walk by myself for an hour around the busy Georgia traffic.
Speaking of which, Georgia is relatively safe from the viral ourbreak. It’s not a safe haven, this isn’t Death Road to Canada where you’re instantly safe when you cross the border. But like, in general, this isn’t as bad as, say Lousianna or Texas. (Super worried about my friend who went from the former to the latter cause her nursing school is switching to online due to the outbreak, so super worried for her, but she’s better equipped to handle it than I, who would just die, lol.
But if you’re reading this, for some reason or another, then I hope you stay safe and stay healthy. And don’t be a douche nugget and hoard all the hand sanitizer and toilet paper. Some people can’t panic buy and you’re killing them. Baka.
