32 and javid for the ask game!
- @we-are-inevitable ✨
It is so so important to me that you guys know this is the third version of this ask that Jac sent me. The first one didn't have a ship and the second one wasn't anon so everyone point and laugh at Jac (with love <3)
Anyways, 32 is Everlasting by Sarah Charles Lewis!
So..... Javid Tuck Everlasting AU?
Javid Tuck Everlasting AU!
As always, I made this way longer than anyone wanted or asked for.
I'm thinking that this would be a prequel with Jack as Miles, David as his husband, Medda as Mae, and Race as Jesse. Charlie is functionally Angus, but he's one of the brothers and his personality is different, obviously. I guess I could just have Race and Jack but I love Charlie so much and he will always be in my AUs so yeah, he's Angus but not.
The fic would start with the Larkin family coming upon the spring, spending the night, and taking a drink in the morning.
"Do you think this water is clean? I mean, don't we have to boil it first?" "It looks fine to me. Besides, it's just water, what's it gonna do, kill us?"
Quite the opposite actually!
So then we would follow the Larkins finding a nice town to settle down in and there would probably be a few other Newsies characters in there somewhere I dunno.
The first chapter or two would be about Jack and David meeting and falling in love and all that good stuff. I think it would be just a series of short little scenes that take us through their relationship over a few years. They'd meet in town somewhere and Jack would be kinda obnoxious at first because this boy does not know how to flirt without being insufferable. David would pretend to hate him but secretly really enjoys their banter and "complains" about him to Sarah.
Eventually, Jack would get his act together and they'd start dating. The Jacobs family loves him, the Larkin family loves David, and it's just really nice and sweet and all that. We'd get a nice, small wedding with their families and friends and they'd end up adopting a kid after a year or so.
But throughout all of this, David couldn't help but feel like something was off about Jack and his family. When a harsh winter brought on a bad case of scarlet fever to the entire town, not a single member of the Larkin family got so much as a cough. One summer when Jack was helping Mr. Kloppmann do some repairs on his barn, a section of the roof collapsed right on top of him. When they finally got the giant piece of wood off of him, he was completely fine, he didn't even have a bruise. And the weirdest thing was even ten years after the Larkins moved to town, Race, the youngest, hadn't aged a day.
You have made your love of the classic Thundercats series quite obvious. But how do you feel about the 2011 series?
To be honest, I actually really like Thundercats 2011.
2011 was a rough year for me, but I remember that the day this show premiered was a highlight for me that I actively 'fought' to see. And, frankly, there's so much I love about it.
I love the anime aesthetic. I love the reinterpretation of Lion-O. I love the backstory and the explanation of all the animal species. Every episode felt like a new adventure, almost like showing me a new aspect of fantasy I never thought of.
I'll admit, there are some aspects about the show I didn't like; the soap opera like "love triangle" between Lion-O, Tygra, and Cheetara and the resulting bounce back with Pumyra, the latter's eventual betrayal, Tygra in general.
But, overall, I'd still say the show was good and will never forgive Cartoon Network for dropping this show for a literal LEGO knockoff.
I'd probably recommend the 2011 series over the 1985 series; I personally prefer the original series, but not everyone has a taste for that era of animation. Hell, most Thundercat OCs are based off of the 2011 series, so I think it's safe to say which series is more popular these days.
But, I digress.
Coward. You go back into those tags and call them 'Daddies'! >:(
Don't make me take my belt off, you brat. >:P
I just read a post you made about how Code Lyoko was such a dark show, and I couldn’t agree more. I’ve actually done an analysis on the killer music episode on how devastating it actually was, and I’m so glad you brought it up
Nice to see that post still making the rounds, lol. XD
And yes, thank you for talking about the Killer Music episode, cause it's such a horrifying concept!
Who is your favorite Code Lyoko character? Mine is easily Aelita! Her whole AI-Human hybrid arc thing is super interesting, also pink hair is fucking cool.
Hell yeah pink hair is cool!
Anyway, as a kid, my favorite was Odd. I love characters that joke around a lot. One could argue he loses a lot, but he also fights a lot. Like, is it just me, or do a lot of episodes in Season 1 has him being the one going to Lyoko most of the time even though arguably, Ulrich is the best fighter in the group? That's so...odd, lol. I wonder if Odd was the creator's favorite...
But while I'm rewatching it, Odd's still holding that mantle. I'm trying to rewatch the show and properly finish it now. (With my luck, this'll only take me until 2022.) Though now as an adult, I quite like Jeremie. I always liked his relationship with Aelita cause I also always love smart characters and smarty + smarty is my favorite ship dynamic, but I'm really starting to appreciate Jeremie more than I did as a kid. As a kid, I don't think I appreciated him cause he wasn't going into Lyoko, but he's actually kinda neat.
Or, you know, maybe that's my love for smart characters shining through.
So, uh, I guess for now, my final answer is Odd with Jeremie vying for second place. If you can't tell, I'm kinda fickle, so that could change as I get further into the seasons.
Princess Peach as a Druid legit terrifies me. Cause that means she can learn Heat Metal.
I mean, why would that terrify you?
Have you done something wrong?
Have you done something to give Peach a reason to have you roasting within your own platemail as she smiles ever-so-sweetly at you, her blue-eyes no longer a comforting ocean, but now a curtain to hold back a tranquil fury as she watches you burn for your sins?
>:3
What's a trope in fiction that you ABSOLUTELY hate? And what's a trope that's a HUGE guilty please hehe~?
I feel the latter for me would be 'harems', but I'm not too guilty about that at this point. I've brought this up with Jango, but, like, I LOVE harem anime and harem fics. If I find a good harem fic, I'm all over that. Speaking of which, I need to seriously hunt myself a good harem fic to read...
Though, I suppose another guilty pleasure trope of mine is...I guess the "Smart Guy" trope? Like, characters that are really smart in universe. I can't explain it, but I've always liked characters that used their wits to get out of stuff or are the technical backbone of their group. I love a character that's strong, but a character that's smart and wins through being clever? That's some good shit. And fuck do I love it when both wins the day. Ooh, I especially have a weakness for characters being smarter than everyone thinks they are, or for their niche knowledge to come into play when nobody expects it.
I guess these answers are pretty lame. XD
Tropes that I absolutely hate? Picking one is surprisingly hard. Love Triangles are one, and it might be why I like Harems so much. I also hate "Enemies To Lovers"; at least, I hate it nowadays, cause whenever I see it now, it always feels like there's this lingering air of abuse that just never got resolved.
In that same vein, I also hate how redemption arcs are done nowadays. Either they make the person being redeemed be so fucking awful that they can't be redeemed, or they make it so obvious that they will be redeemed that it's not a twist and we're just waiting for it to happen. And God help us if its both, that's just the worst.
And I guess to continue off of this; woobies, or characters that are intended to be sad. Like, 'oh, poor them, feel bad for them'. It just rubs me the wrong way. Like, I don't mean having a sad backstory is bad. I mean the writers continuously tries to make the character so sad that you can't criticize them because they're SO SAD, as if it's an excuse for all their actions.
