Jacek Yerka 1952 - Surrealist painter @jacekyerka_art from Torun Poland with both parents also artistic, he navigated to art early on playing with inks and paints. In primary school it set him apart as he preferred indoor art over outside games but he excelled in high school drawing funny caricatures of the school’s biggest bullies. Originally thinking he’d get into medicine or astronomy, it wasn’t until right before his final exams he took painting seriously for the first time. After that he decided to study fine art, graphic design and eventually graduated as a print maker from university. During this time his teachers had encouraged him to ditch his more realist, painstakingly detailed Flemish technique in favour of something more popular with the then current times but Yerka said fuck it and ended up doing his own thing. Eventually he became regarded as an unruly talent, a full time artist by 1980 with several contracts with various galleries in Warsaw. Today he is internationally exhibited and collected and still seeks suggestions from his wife and four daughters. His ideas begin with a pencil sketch into pencil crayon into pastel and finally transcribed into an acrylic painting. His top influences: Hieronymus Bosch, Pieter Bruegel, Cagliostro, Jan Van Eyck and Hugo Van Derek Goesan. Four Siders paintings meant to be hung from any angle, an imaginative and fantastical quality of bathtubs morphing into crocodiles and all the seasons and feelings of a year carefully crafted into one painting are just some of his signature moves. Сегодня я хочу представить польского художника- иллюстратора Яцек Йерка (польск. Jacek Yerka, настоящая фамилия Ковальский), работающего в жанрах сюрреализм, постпрессиониз, кубизм, фентези. #JacekYerka закончил факультет изобразительного искусства в торуньском университете Николая Коперника со специализацией в области эстампа. C 1980 года работает как художник. В 1995 году Яцек Йерка получил престижную премию "World Fantasy Award" как лучший художник.
