Levi has been walking for days. His little camping trip was not meant to take this long, only a weekend retreat. Seems he's retreated a little too far. He's pretty sure he went by that oak tree maybe an hour ago, or was it a birch??
Aaaaaand now he doesn't recognise any of his surroundings. Fuck.
Levi scrubs a hand down his face, its getting dark too, he'll need to make camp soon. And he needs a shave. The last two days have not been overly kind to him and his beard is growing a little straggly. He imagines the incredulously unimpressed look on Drasa's face when she finally comes looking for him and finds him looking like a Tom Hanks Castaway reject and snorts a little.
Nah, she's busy in Italy this week, something about a new job and maybe catching up with that "dark, short and handsome" spy friend of hers. Drasas words, not his.
Humming "Castaways, we are castaways" to himself he smiles a little as he thinks back on all the shits thats gone down since he and Drasa successfully escaped the gorge a few short months ago and became good friends who still occasionally bail each other out of shit.
Sadly, he's on his own for another while.
He marches on though leaf piles and in-between what he's pretty sure is the same damned trees he passed an hour ago, and sighs.
There's some rocky ledges ahead, which he scales down, his backpack hardly a weight or bother. They used to give them bags with boulders for wilderness training in basic.
The sun is slowly setting above the trees, but it seems he's found himself a valley, and from the low trickling sound nearby, water!!
Levi starts a slow jog, if there's water, he can survive a few more days out here no problem!!
The sound is getting louder and louder, almost gushing. He rounds a copse of trees and yep, thats a waterfall.
Not a massive one, the cliff face must only be about 3 metres, but its big enough, trails of bright water falling down into a clear blue lagoon, trees twisting around, with willow branches trailing the water. It looks like something out of a fairy tale.
Levi shakes himself out of the daze and whoops!! There's still light, and much more than was in the trees, so he quickly strips down for a bath.
As mentioned, he's been walking for days. He stinks.
Levi drops his bag on a smooth rock face beside the pool and wades in, if its deep enough, he might do some dives later.
The water glides over his body, his feet finding purchase on the rocky pool floor. Huh, seems its all rock, the water fall must have eroded it into shape.
He take a breath and dunks in, covering his head. Submerged under the water, its so peaceful. He's always loved swimming and water, ever since he was a baby and his ma took him for swimming with his cousin, since they were the same age and all. But while you couldn't pay Bee to get in, Levi loved all this aquatic and watery and nearly always protested fiercely when it came time for home.
He let his shoulders drop under the weight of the water and allowed his body to gently tilt upward. It felt weird to be naked and outside, but its not like anyone was around, or would see him. And it was kinda nice.
He floated back to the top, feeling more human than he had in that lats two days put together and surfaced. For a moment he stayed there, his head, chest and knees bobbing above the water. Peaceful.
Movement startles him out for the corner of his eye and he rockets up, disturbing the tranquil water around him with kinetic waves that lap up to the rocky edge and breech over them, landing on the grass and mud surrounding the edge. And just beyond that is.....a boy?
No a man, but definitely a very young man, baby fat clinging to his cheeks and rounding out his face and limbs. He's crouched down between two mossy rocks and Levi nearly didn't see him at all, at the edge of the clearing away from the water.
He has long brown hair falling in waves to his shoulders and curling around his ears, which seem to stick out rather strangely, like an elfs.
The little elf is wearing a circlet of twisted branches and green leaves and small flowers around his head too, which complements his strange oversized green tee shirt with vines and leaves woven all over it. To top it off, he's wearing boots that look more like moss and fallen leaves clumped together with twine around his ankles.
All in all he makes a strange picture. And the way he's crouched down with his tunic thing rising up his thighs is absolutely not helping Levis eyes stay where they should.
The elf moves gracefully and slowly, bright eyes fixed on Levi as he crawls forward along the grass sensually. Levi is caught in those big green eyes, his Mother's warning of old Irish fae folk and Sìdhe ways lost to his mind. How they could ensnare and trick mortals to their peril.
No, he only saw light caressing soft cheekbones and smooth skin barely covered from his gaxe by green material and long silky hair.
The delicate creature reached the edge of the pool, Levis breath caught as one small hand reached forward and two finger pressed to his ear.
He inhaled sharply at the unexpected touch and the elf startled with him, eyes wide and drawing back in a flinch. The elf scampered away from Levu, drawing his legs under him and turning tail without a sounds, moving over the long grass and uneven ground like he weighed nothing. Like the forest itself buoyed him.
"Wait" Levis voice strangled in his throat, but it didn't matter. The beautiful green elf was gone and the forest clearing seemed almost, darker without him. He scrambled out of the pool, cursing as he scared a hand on a rock, but he didn't dare stop.
Levi dressed and ran after him, but he, whatever he was, was long gone. He sighed and made camp at the waterfall for the night, putting up his meager tent and collapsing into his sleeping bag. A few nearby leaves and a bandage made for a poor man's dressing, but it'd do for now. Honestly, the leaves only reminded him of that beautiful strange man he'd seen? Hallucinated?
Today's Friday Fan-Art stars Buddy from @joepossumart‘s webcomic, Jack Legend!
I think most anyone can relate to the expectations placed upon Jack in the comic; he comes from a long line of impressive individuals, and he so far hasn't found his calling. Poor guy.
But also Buddy is a little sweetheart and I wanna hug him
