Speaking of old flames, Charlie has had a set of admirers of her own. But probably the one that threatened Vinnie the most was Asphalt Jack McPherson. What are your thoughts on him?
Ah, a very good question! And one I have some insider information on.
Throughout the series Charley has a couple of would-be suitors, such as Greasepit and Sir Lancelot. While Vinnie reacted with some degree of jealousy ( especially with Lancelot ) at the same time he was secure in the knowledge that Charley would go for neither guy. Greasepit of course not, and Lancelot lived in a completely different time and place that Charley couldn’t possibly stay in.
However, with Asphalt Jack, it’s clear there is still a strong bond between him and Charley. Even though Jack would eventually look elsewhere for a relationship, going so far as to get engaged, Charley reacts with a bit of jealousy herself ( oh, how the tables have turned ).
One of the reasons why Vinnie feels so threatened by Jack is because Jack possibly stands a chance of being with Charley again. He’s known her since high school, they were engaged once before, and was the first true love of Charley’s life. Jack has had sexual relations with Charley ( read down below ) which is only going to make Vinnie feel more insecure and jealous.
I think it would be best to share words from the show’s original director and producer Tom Tataranowicz here, as he goes into detail about the whole McCyber and Vinnie rivalry dynamic.
This post was originally made by him to the Unofficial Biker Mice Club web forums back in 1998:
Re: All about Charley (to Camilia) Posted by Tom Tataranowicz on Sunday, 15 March 1998, at 7:39 p.m., in response to Re: Stink To Stink from Tom Tataranowicz, posted by Camilia on Sunday, 15 March 1998, at 5:11 p.m. well, y'see, McCyber was the first major love of Charley's life. They are the same age, first met in high school and were an item. When they graduated, Jack went off to college, and Charley to Junior College, which she ahd to leave to help out her dad. That was that for a while until Jack came back on Summer break. hey ecame involved again, and it was then that Charley lost her ... uh, lessee ...how can I say it "P.C.-wise"? Well, y'know, ... they shared something very special. They subsequently became engaged. However, needless to say, that didn't work out and they went their separate ways. But this relationship is strongly hinted at and is why Vinnie is so jealous in the "Virtual Unreality" episode. This "subtext" is all something I worked out before the writing of the episode, and not something I just made up. I swear. A careful viewing of the episode and listening to the subtlties of the performances will bear this out. Jack subsequently became one of the country's premier freelance computer imaging consultants. That's it for now. Lemme think a bit about how much to reveal about the Vinnie/Charley thing (hopefully the McCyber/Charley tryst gave you enough soap opera for today) and the story of Modo's wife.

OPINION TIME!
Should I make Jack McCyber a bisexual furry in my fanfics? He's already a computer geek, after all. XD
Hell yes!
Fuck no!
