Maybe you're the Reason by The Japanese House from the album Good At Falling - Directed by Harvey Pearson
Birthday
Tired, Jack disconnected from the Internet, removed his AR glasses, and exhaled in relief. It had been a long day. He’d finally finished setting up his website, a place he called “Room404” because of the way its code enabled it to disappear completely unless you knew where to find it. And on top of that, he’d also received payment from the last job he’d done by deleting some info from a law…

NaNoWriMo Day 3
So, as expected, I've been writing a lot in the last few days. I've been trying to get ahead by writing more than the required amount, but it's proven to be way too taxing. I am very happy that this year NaNoWriMo began over a weekend (especially one where we got to time travel one hour back in time). It let me jump start my brain.
I'm not sure if it was the summer or my graduate exam, but I was burned out. For the longest time, I couldn't really think or write. All I could do was consume media. I guess I was getting mentally fat and lazy. Now, that I've begun my training, things are slowly getting back into place. I got to lose some mental weight!
Anyway, I have somewhere over 5k words done (I'm not really counting exactly as I am saving my files a little differently this year). Instead of having a single large file, I am creating a new one a day. Because of last years escapade, a terrible incident that involved my flash drive losing about 10k words after the loss of a single file, I reasoned I should keep multiple files, one for each day. On top of that, I am using drop box too. So everything is backed up in two computers and the cloud.
And although I said I would not be posting chapter long things, I wanted to post some excerpts here and there with every update. So here' something from today's amount. Please know that following some advice from fellow writers, I am not revising, so this might have some errors or repetitions. I am trying different things as I go.

Jack Meredith
It has been a couple of years since I had the dream, but I remember it as if I had it last night. As I have mentioned before, I have looked into the study of dreams, mostly from a scientific perspective, and know quite a bit about how dreams work. However, there are some theories out there that place dreams in a more paranormal setting.
I would like to believe all of that, but as a skeptic, I find it quite hard to take any of that seriously. Nevertheless, I have read some of popular ideas about dreams. Some people say that dreams can be a way to look into the future, a premonition of sorts. Others say they are a connection with the ethereal. I like both ideas, but they are based around simple guess work.
Anyway, the reason I bring this up is because of the connection with my dreams and November’s project. I know this is somewhat of a repetition of what I said before, with the whole thing about dreams, the gothic, etcetera, but there is a cool story behind this one.
Around four years ago, while I was a freshman in college, I had a dream about my first published novel. I sat at my desk, reading my notes for the day because I was preparing for a big presentation. Basically, I had a book reading coming up later that day. When I stepped into the book store, where I would hold my book reading, I ware greeted by some family members, who wanted to see my first presentation. That’s when I noticed I had forgotten my personal copy of the book I would use for the reading. Luckily, the store provided me with a copy of the book.
Now, I remember reading in many places that you cannot read in dreams. It is supposed to be impossible because of some crazy idea. However, I took the book into my hands and I could read the title of the piece: Jack Meredith. Other than the strange fact I could read the cover, it is that I had never heard that name before that day. I had never brainstormed on a book called Jack Meredith either.
The dream ends with my presentation and moves on to my normal dreams where I am some protagonist of some movie (I know I am weird). Unlike my normal dreams, were I am myself, I was Jack Meredith. It is in this part of my dream were I was able to take some plot ideas for an actual project.
After four years, I never actually wrote a single word of that story. The dream remained in my head, but I never decided to write it. At the time, I was obsessed with my project “The Agency,” which died out because I felt it was too similar to Dark Angel (which I found out existed after I came up with the idea). Later I moved onto the Absolution Symphony project, which I am still working on, but has changed too much.
Now, after four years, I will work on this thing that has been on my mind. During the whole November national novel writing month challenge, I will be working on Jack Meredith. I have some ideas on the story, and I went over that a bit on the last entry. Like I mentioned in the last entry, I am not supposed to write any portion of this book until next month, but I am allowed to create some character biographies and outline the story.
Here is some information on the project:
Jack Meredith is a science fiction novel that deals with humanity’s ingenuousness and how we are truly powerless when compared to the higher powers of our universe. I will make use of current alien folklore, such as some of the races believed to exist, and other basic ideas. The story will take place somewhere in the future, around 2025 to 2030, and have a cyberpunk-styled setting (though not exactly cyberpunk in genre).
Jack Meredith is a 26 year old, who was kicked out of his parent’s six months ago. Before that, he was an art major, who spent 2 years, after he graduated from college with high marks, in New York trying to become a renowned artist. He failed. He returned to his parent’s, broke, with big loans on his back, and forced to work at a local convenience store, where he got fired six months later for mistreating customers. As an art major, he has always disliked technology because he feels it detracts humans from the beauty of life (this will go with the art movement present at the time in the story), and tries to go around the use of technology if he can (he does use it, only if it is necessary). Now, he lives at an apartment that his grandparents pay behind his parent’s back, in San Francisco, where the story begins.
I will not list any of the other character bios because I feel it would ruin some of the story telling next month (I will try to keep it all in chronological order to make this an actual experience for myself and other readers). Look forward next month for the development of this crazy story, and my subsequent personal breakdown.
Happy Monday!!!!
(If you are weird and interested, I did google the name Jack Meredith. Nothing relatable to me appeared, but if you find something, give me a shout.)
