She hated the way he always played things down, always actingthe fool, pretending like he could just do whatever he wanted, and that itwouldn’t affect anyone but himself because he would just run away. “Don’t putme in this position. “If you want to get yourself killed, then just go do it,Jarrick!” Her red hair swung back from her eyes as she gestured broadly, and in that moment she was more Jeneva than she had been in a long time. “Butdon’t accept my help and then make stupid choices that put us all at risk. It’snot fair! And… And I won’t be part of it. I can’t!” She turned from him, puther back to the bars of his cage and tightened her hands into fists at hersides. “I won’t help you anymore.” She walked away so that she wouldn’t have tolisten to him tell her that he’d never expected her help. What else was asister supposed to do?
