THINKING ABOUT FLUFFY JACK AND EDISON and Jack is more of a strategic henchmen than a henchmen you would use to fight. After all, he can do cool things but its smart to rely on his powers rather than his fighting capabilities. Like Venus making fear gas pollen in the air and Jack putting on a gas mask and using his illusion powers to distort their world even more than it already is. Jack is spliced with the DNA of domesticated rabbits so he really does enjoy praise and being told he did a good job and gets a bit depressed when he gets lectured by Ramone or James-Dean instead, hence why he really likes Edison the most because Edison will pat his head, give him a backhanded compliment (Jack knows hes trying his best), or rub his ears to let him know that he did well. Which makes Jack so happy and he loves to compliment and praise Edison for every little thing he does. Ramone actually puts Jack and Venus on the same shift so then Venus can get a taste of what it's like to have someone ANNOYINGLY talk about their boyfriend for hours on hours because that's what Jack does with Edison.

But Jack also does take care and is a very doting partner on Edison's behalf. When Edison has had too much to drink where he isn't feeling frisky but still a bit cuddly, Jack will happily help him get home safely and when Edison wakes up with a painful headache, Jack just bringing him breakfast in bed with a morning cure and a cute breakfast of heart-shaped pancakes, eggs, sausages, and freshly cut fruit. He'll even feed Edison if Edison himself isn't feeling to hot. OR LIKE, HE GETS BEAT UP BY MAIKEL and Edison is just getting lectured for his "failure" by Ramone as Jack holds an ice pack to Edison's bruised eye and massages the sores in his shoulder and he just has the most concerned looked on his face. When Ramone leaves, Jack just glaring at him before he nuzzles Edison and talks about how mean that was of Ramone. Jack is also very good at cuddling, wrapping his arms around Edison's neck and his legs and he just nuzzles the side of his face into Edison's and Edison being all: "Jack, my glasses-" but Jack can't help it, he loves his Edison so much.

BUT ALSO, JACK WILL 100% LET EDISON REST HIS HEAD ON HIS LAP AND FEED HIM GRAPES AND SHIT LIKE THAT AS HE RUBS HIS SCALP LIKE HOW EDISON SAID TO. When Edison is all: "Drink." then Jack will eagerly nod his head before setting down the grapes and taking Edison's drinks with a straw and bringing it closer to him so he can have a sip.

Or Jack will clean and organize Edison's work space, since he'd pay attention to Edison's organization system, and will keep his place clean so Edison just walking home and he sees Jack just wearing the CUTEST most frilly pale blue house wife apron as he bends over to dust something and Edison has to fight the urge to pounce on him.

Concept for Native! Jack VanDyne/Rabbit:

The reason why I thought about making Jack Native American was because I was thinking his origin story would essentially be that he was put in the foster care system and kind of represent the trauma of how the foster care system will purposely take Native children away from their families for the welfare checks that the governments provide these children and that its actually the legacy of Indian Boarding school. These children end up being put into abusive/unstable homes and in some cases, end up going missing entirely or murdered. Because I've been doing so much research on the MMIWR issue, I kind of wanted to create Jack as a way to honor this.

Rabbits were the first animals targeted by scientists for animal testing because they're docile, easier to confine and keep trapped, and cost effective. The Foster care system treats indigenous children the same way: targeting them when they're young and helpless, families struggle to keep their children because of the unfair standards set, and the main purpose to target native children is money. Obviously we have ICWA but even then, there are cases where that isn't even enough.

I really want Jack to be a foster care survivor and I want to add more villains to Kana's rouge gallery. But essentially, Jack's mother is a murdered Ojibwe woman who had a meta-gene and his father, also Ojibwe, was so hurt by her death that he began to spiral because the police wouldn't take it seriously and child care services had to be called in because his father started to neglect him. However, since it's Gotham, doctors who wanted to study splicing were paying off Gotham Child Services to send children to them (because they're all foster kids) and it would specifically be children of color. Jack was among one of those children who would be experimented and tested on, his DNA specifically being spliced with rabbit DNA. Eventually Batman managed to deal with the issue and he tried to get all of the kids into good homes as Bruce Wayne but Jack's father had already killed himself as a result of having his wife and child taken away and Jack had no relatives nearby to take care of him. Bruce promised to find him a home but Jack had so much distrust in people like him who were white and had money that he ran off. That's when he met Jervis and Jervis kind of convinced him to be his white rabbit.

Jervis and Beth have an interesting relationship and I think the same goes for their apprentices. Like, Gabriel would use his mist but Jack would distort his world, however, I do think they will be equally matched. But Jack kind of embraces the Wonderland aesthetic because it was his mom's favorite story and he likes the whimsical and fantastical side of it to escape his sad reality. Gabriel liked the Cheshire Cat because of how he disrupted order and wanted the abolishment of the elite. Even after he became Faust, Gabriel and his role as Cheshire is still the same. I'd also lowkey love it if he worked at Ramone's lounge as a waiter or host and he 100% would have a crush on Edison-

Jack is a master Tea Party thrower, considering he's part of the Wonderland Gang, he would always arrange and organize the tea parties that they would have meetings over. He is also VERY deathly serious about them and is super precise about the planning. Like Ramone not being scare of him but he just makes a mental note to NOT piss Jack off because he once saw him mentally break someone's psyche with his powers because THEY DIDN'T STEEP IT FOR THE ADEQUATE TIME. Even Gabriel doesn't want to piss him off so he always shows up on time for Jack's things because he'd hate to get on his bad side.

SO LIKE, JACK IS ALWAYS SO NERVOUS AND SKITTISH but the moment someone interrupts his tea party, he LOCKS THE FUCK IN. Batman will fight him and Jack just dodging his attacks and he even manages to kick him in the face BECAUSE HE KNOCKED OVER HIS TIRAMISU. He ends up getting his ass kicked obviously but Bruce just massaging his jaw and he's all: "Huh...didn't expect that from him." AND JACK WILL TRY TO SAVE HIS DESSERTS AND STUFF IF HE CAN. Like, Maikel and James-Dean are fighting around Jack's tea table and Jack just following them and catching desserts they knock over with his foot or hands. And he neatly places them down and pats them but then JAMES-DEAN THROWS MAIKEL ONTO THE TABLE AND IT BREAKS and Jack's eye twitches and he's all: "I'M GONNA CRASH THE FUCK OUT."

But also, YOU KNOW THAT THE GIRLIES INVITE HIM TO TEA PARTIES. He would have the cutest tiered cupcake stand with cupcakes on cupcakes lined up and other yummy and delicious desserts. As well as having a kettle with tea and other yummy drinks. LIKE HE MAKES THE BEST PASTRIES AND EVERYTHING♡

ALSO, JACK DOES TALK REALLY FAST AND IF HE WASN'T EVIL, HE AND KHAMRON JUST TALKING AT FULL SPEED. Jack is also incredibly jumpy, he likes to skip when he walks (Ramone and JD need coffee before they deal with his sunshine and rainbows ass-), and he's just so happy all of the time. I will give him back his top hat where he has his bunny ears attached and he does have Jervis's mind control cards. I think it would be cute if Eugene taught him card tricks too but Jack does have a full Alice in Wonderland themed card deck and depending on whatever character you have on his card, you "become" that character. He 100% plants these on people and is super good at doing it subtly too.

He also does his best at whatever task has been assigned to him, he might mess up a bit because he's clumsy, but if Venus needs to reach something then Jack will hop up and hand it to her. He'll mix up drinks and he does a fairly good job but he CAN NOT bar tend during the rush because then he feels so much pressure. BUT ALSO, IMAGINE THERE'S A FOOD RUSH AND HE'S RUNNING FROM TABLE TO TABLE AND HE'S ALL: "Ah! it's late! it's late! its terribly late!!" or he runs into James-Dean and JD lectures him and he's all: "SORRY, THE HURRIER I GO, THE BEHINDER I GET!" and James-Dean just sighing and rolling his eyes.

The white rabbit is also a kiss ass and Jack is no different, he is 100% a "yes" man, but with Ramone: its just very polite and basic clapping and general praise. But for Edison, Jack will happily clap and praise him over the smallest shit and details. Like, Edison walks into the lounge and Jack is at the host stand and he stands tall immediately as he's all: "EDISON! My, you're wearing such a lovely outfit today! It makes you look as smart as ever!" but Edison just being all: "I KNOW, Jack, that's why I wore it today." and Jack's smile not even faltering despite how annoyed Edison sounded and he's all: "Oh! Of course, of course! You're so smart, your shoes do arithmetic!" and Edison just sighs.

I do think that Jack does talk in a typical wonderland fashion. He says nonsensical things that sometimes makes it hard to understand what he's saying. Like, Venus is all: "Jack, when is Kitty supposed to be on shift?"

Jack: "Um, she told me yesterday but I was a different person then." and Venus just looks at him but he's basically saying: "It was yesterday but I don't remember." or, like, he gives the strangest compliments as well. James-Dean is trying on a new suit and Jack is all: "Oh, dear, a suit like that looks like it keeps you on time!" and James-Dean just ignores him but Jack is essentially saying: "That suit makes you look very punctual!"

But it's also a little bit of a perk because when Jack gets captured by police and they interrogate him about Ramone's dealings or ask him to talk about Ramone's crimes, Jack is all: "Well the early bird gets the worm, but the worm appeared to have his own alarm clock! But there are moles, badgers, and foxes! Oh dear! Mayhaps a stricter morning routine? " and Comissioner Gordon just sighs and he's all: "Just send him to Arkham-"

Jack, during his time being a teat subject, did have his hair shaved off (just like how native children in boarding schools got their hair cut) so he is really concerned about growing it. When Jervis "adopted" him (there is no paperwork), he quickly found out that Jack doesn't like it when other people give him hair cuts. He will fight and struggle and get out of there, so it took a while for Jervis to get him comfortable with it. So Jack doesn't like it when other people touch his hair and likes to take care of it himself most of the time.

With his spliced DNA, he very much has heightened hearing, ability to jump super high, and he's also lowkey very acrobatic and its just something that he learned from jumping really high. He also moves in a very animated way, where his body language is such a dead give away to how he's feeling, but he's also developed really quick reflexes as well. Like, a lady accidentally pushes her drink too far to the side so Jack just quickly kicks it up to his hand and grabs it and hands it to the lady. His nose also twitches a little when his scent catches something strange and odd or when he's nervous and scared about something.

ALSO, I do think he doesn't have rabbit ears but he does have a cotton tail and needs to get his pants tailored for it as well. SO I CAN IMAGINE SOME GUYS OR EVEN WOMEN, sometimes grab at his cotton tail and he straightens his back and his nose twitches and he quickly turns around and he has a huge blush on his face. But also, like, his tail just wagging whenever he hears Edison's voice and he starts looking around for him. He'll be talking to Kitty when he can hear Edison getting into a screaming match with Ramone and Jack just sitting up happily and his tail wags as he looks around excitedly for him.

I also made him Ojibwe specifically because the Rabbit is a trickster diety in their mythology so he's very quick on his feet when it comes to thinking about strategies. Like, he can't take on Kana because she's PURE brute strength but he can jump and dodge her and use his illusions to make her hit at false targets and everything to exaughst and distract her.

I lowkey do think he and Gabriel are gonna be exes, like, Gabriel was just kind of using him for his powers and because he was so sweet and naive so Jack picked up on some of Gabriel's manipulative habits and ways but he is nowhere near his level because at the end of the day, he's not a terribly cruel person. He's just trying to survive Gotham at least one day at a time, honestly.
