Okay so Jackalopes are a kind of cryptid that’s basically a hare with antlers- their name is a mix of “jackrabbit” and “antelope” but they’re more commonly represented as hare/deer. They’re often taxidermied ⬆️ and i want an (ethically sourced) jackalope head SO BAD

There’s a plethora of myths and superstitions surrounding them but one of the ones i’ve clung onto is that they are VICIOUS little bastards. Have you ever seen that not-deer taxidermy? The one with really sharp teeth? Lemme find it

Anyways to me, Jackalopes represent prey animal fear and viciousness. This small thing that can and will kill you. Something completely wild and feral and that taps into the same niche as cannibalism for me. It’s hard to explain but like,,,, the unburdening of morality from a human standpoint. Weird thing also but Jackalope sensory shifts mostly happen when i’m scared and im gonna be so real might just be adrenaline lmao but! They go hand in paw with tooth shifts and the urge to bite people :3 so yeah it all feels connected in my head!!! And i def associate jackalopes with cannibalism.

hello hello!! Here are some jackalope/jackrabbit tips!

short term:

enjoy some leafy salads with additions like carrots, apples, granola, and other crunchy items! (I also want to suggest açaí bowls with this tip mwahaha healthy ice cream propaganda)

try eating primarily with your front teeth!

practice hopping around! Look up tutorials if you’re not sure where to start!

Try to make your nose twitch when you sniff things! I notice this a lot with prey animals

hop up and down when you’re excited! I do this and I’m not any sort of rabbit lol, I just like that it brings joy and whimsy to the world

long term:

Buy taxidermy of a jackalope if you’re interested!(similarly, buying pelts or furs too!)

build yourself a garden you can steal food from >:3

build muscles in your legs by going to the gym or working out at home! I suggest calf raises, squats, and leg presses but please be safe if you’re using extra weight when you do them!

practice relying on your hearing more than your eyesight! Put on a YouTube video you have already seen and listen carefully to train your ears and potentially pick up new sounds!

if you want others to associate you with jackalope or jackrabbits, bring them up in conversation! Tell friends creepy stories about jackalopes (I think they’re cryptids I could be so wrong sorry 😭) or recount the events of watership down, a book about rabbits like you!

Sometimes I feel like I don't really fit in with the alterhuman community, I'm not a canine nor do I like to be compared to or treated as one in any way shape or form. I don't bite, I don't like to bite especially as affection. I don't know what I look like for any of my types, I'm unsure if this is because of my aphantasia or something else. While I am both predator and prey I will always be more prey than I am predator even when I am more bear or cat than deer or bird. I don't want others to be afraid of me, I will always long for a herd, flock, sloth, clowder, of my own and I wouldn't want to scare them away. The thought of people being scared of me fills me with so much shame and dread, I would never want to hurt someone like that. it's happened before and it's one of the worst pains I've ever felt. I don't want claws or talons, or fangs any sharper than the ones I already have, I wouldn't want to hurt someone or myself by accident. Sometimes I feel like I'm not animalistic enough even though I know that's not true because everyone is different and every creature experiences their own alterhumanity differently

But even though I feel so different I still admire this community so much, there is so much beauty and diversity between every creature and I love seeing everyone's unique experiences 💚
