Omggg please teach me dog vocals
dogs only snarl-bark when they're angry. If you let your nose snort (like the pig oink sound) in between barking, you will sound angry. Do this by relaxing your throat and bringing the air upwards into your nose/throat area and letting the air "drag"
Cupping your hands over your mouth is better for dogs with longer snouts and deeper barks. If you're a puppy or a pug/bulldog, don't use your hands to muffle your bark. (Bulldogs and pugs can also snort-bark when they aren't angry! Just make sure to keep your barking light to make you sound happier)
The absolute KEY with howling is letting your voice go wherever it wants. This means letting it crack, and finding the most natural pitch for your voice. Puppies and smaller/flat-faced dogs will also have hands-free howls, and flat-faced dogs are often whinier, where long-snouted dogs will sound more like they're groaning.
To sound higher pitched, use more of your nose as opposed to your throat. The deepest possible bark/growl is done in the chest. If you bark deeply (think Bermese Mountain or Rottweiler), I recommend checking out vocal exercises for lowering your range.
If you're howling LOUD, make sure you lower your pitch too! If you can feel your voice cracking painfully, you're at too high a pitch and you're going to hurt your voice. (Take this from a choir kid, stand-up comedian, AND musical theatre kid)
Don't lock your knees while howling EVER. Best to be seated, actually, or crouching slightly
General vocal tutorials are excellent, but also watch videos of your breed barking. Malinois (what I am) sound VERY different than huskies. pugs and chihuahuas are vastly different. Try to copy that for best results
To practice howling, use videos of wolves howling (they're better at it than dogs ,,,,), or oddly enough, you can find songs to easily howl along to, especially songs like "Dear Rabbit" who incorporate the howl into the song itself
