Harmonic convergence
Notice that one of the opening acts for Lord Huron’s Aug. 9 show at the Meadow Brook Amphitheatre in Rochester Hills, Michigan is Jackamo.
The Detroit-area band is anchored by Alison and Tessa Wiercioch, who happen to be cousins, in a roundabout way, to LH’s front man.
It goes like this: Alison and Tessa are the granddaughters of a first-cousin of mine - and the daughters of my goddaughter, who is also godmother to LH’s front man. Yeah, we’re a close-knit bunch.
Benjamin has been trying to make this happen for a while and no doubt put in a good word for Jackamo, but I’ve seen the band perform several times and have no doubt they can pull this off in fine style.
They write their own songs and their singing is a perfect example of the unique musical chemistry that happens when the voices of two siblings mesh perfectly into a single sound.
This will be fun.

Sibling harmony
Don and Phil Everly ... Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson ... the Isley Brothers ... Alison and Tessa Wiercioch ... all fine examples of the unique musical chemistry that happens when the voices of two siblings mesh into a single sound.
You may not recognize those last two names; they're relatives of mine - granddaughters of one of my first cousins. And they can sing like celestial nightingales.
On Friday night, at the Village Theater at Cherry Hill in Canton, Michigan, Allie (right) and Tess - known as Jackamo - opened for the popular Michigan group, The Accidentals. A passel of friends and relatives - including Sharon and me - were there and I was dazzled, once again, by the magic of one and one adding up to a lot more than two.
Asked about sibling harmony, Craig Jessop, associate director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, once put it this way: "There's no question in my mind that when members of the same family sing together, something intangible happens. "The Osmonds, the Lennon Sisters .... there's something magic in their music. I can't help but feel it's a spiritual element.”
