Beautiful Kenneth as a storyteller on the children’s television show “Jackanory” 🌹
Bernard Cribbins, 1928-2022
Jackanory Turned 60 Years Old Last Week!
If you never got to watch it, I am truly sorry.
Normally told by one person over five episodes, they did a special to celebrate the 3000th episode they produced a special reading of The Hobbit broadcast over 10 episodes, in 1979, featuing 4 readers, Jan Francis, Maurice Denham, David Woods, and The Absolutely Brilliant Bernard Cribbins voicing Bilbo Baggins.
The Hobbit is available for purchase, it is worth it.
Look up the list of readers over the tears it was on the air. True, most of the names will elicit a reaction of "Who da fuk?" but a lot of them will be "OMFG they did Jackanory?"
FYI Cribbins was the most prolific reader with 114 apearences.
Another part of my past gone.
No cause of death yet other than being 93.
However Gillian, his wife of 66 years, died last October and after such a long marriage it often happens that a gentleman doesn’t keep a lady waiting...
Paul being quite the story teller in BBC'S Jackanory, filled wiht loads of hilarious facial expressions and plenty of charm! Broadcasted in 1989.
Cat dad potential
i know i'm a little late with this (i've honestly been too sad) but i don't think wilf or bernard would've minded...
RIP to one of my favourites. sadly i never got to meet this british legend, but nobody could convince me that he was anything other than a wonderful human being. he was a huge part of mine and so many others childhoods, thank you for the memories, Bernard Joseph Cribbins OBE ❤️
