I've read this question on many AC4 forums - can we get by without using the trading option? While you certainly can, you shouldn't! And here's the reason why. The fleet menu allows you to capture and save 15 ships in your fleet. Now don't get put off by the initial missions which offer somewhere around 50 - 100 reales per mission. Once you get past them, you get a minimum average of 1000 reales per mission. Assuming you have all 15 ships in your fleet, you'll make 15000 reales per day just from trading, without even logging on to your console! And how is that you ask? Why, through the AC4 Mobile app of course! While the app doesn't let you capture ships, you can dispatch them to missions throughout the Americas, Africa and Europe. Some of these routes are dangerous and you have to fight naval battles (all within the mobile app) to make them safe, which by itself is a lot of fun! Think of it as assassins creed - clash of clans version. You undertake missions which last from a few minutes to a few hours & upon completion, you get cash, depending upon how long and dangerous the route is. So start building your fleet right away, download the AC4 mobile & get trading! You'll never need to loot ships for money again! Just for wood, metal & cloth to upgrade the Jackdaw out of the tremendous profits you earn!
