The original Addams Family television set was painted bright, vibrant colors like pink (as well as yellow and turquoise) because of how early black-and-white film captured hues.
Dark colors tended to blend together or look muddy on camera, so bright, contrasting colors were used to create the perfect Gothic grayscale.
