Here's a commission I did for @breserker of her characters Vel and Shoua getting slushies. Maybe to celebrate, since today's the 2-year anniversary of the first publication of the Jackrabbit Brujo series! Congrats, Bre!! It feels crazy that it's really been that long, but if I think about it, I've gotten to know these characters so well that it feels much older than that.

i thought about the line "to love another person is to see the face of god" too hard again and it spurred me to draw the main recurring/important characters of my book series Jackrabbit Brujo as of book 2

it's recurring/important, because some of these people are dead, shown in a particular way here

i do, on occasion, have to draw them as furries. civic duty

can't shake the image of teenage vel, fresh off where we left him in book 2, giving himself to full resentment with judas by lady gaga - because it both upsets his tia and gets his feelings out about who she is to him, what she did to his mother, and what she thinks of both of them.

in a way it helps him break one of his creative outlets away from her in discovering he actually does enjoy singing - just not when and what she tells him to sing.

The Jackrabbit's Ofrenda - A Jackrabbit Brujo Tale OUT NOW!!!

Book 2 of Jackrabbit Brujo is FINALLY OUT!!!!

As of now it's only available through a digital purchase through my Ko-Fi - expanded storefronts (not Amazon) will happen later and also word on physical copies should happen Much faster than the prior book. But, you may know, I'm fairly sick right now, so I'll leave that for future Bre to deal with.

Please enjoy this book of mine, it took a lot of blood sweat and tears to put together and it contains a lot of deeply personal stuff wrapped in a magical realism mystery adventure set in Tucson, AZ.

Please also read the description on Ko-Fi and know that this book includes bigotries that end in tragedy including but not limited to racialization against Latin Americans (specifically Mexicans but...we all know they've been used to scapegoat all of LatAm here) and early 2010s homophobia.
