things that make me look really put-together, efficient, and particular but are actually coping mechanisms for my raging autism and adhd: the ELEVEN seperate timers i use literally and actually daily in my classroom. I even have a row of timers pre-set to specific intervals and a student in charge of starting/stopping those timers when asked.

#i look like a master at pacing and time management #really im just managing myself because im time blind and disastrous #jackshit #jacks class #but GENUINELY if you want to look good during observations USE TIMERS. I have been observed by more people than i can keep track of and #they are always SUPER impressed by my timers and comment on it #so life hack right there

Definitely says something about my kids that when I got this email, I literally gasped and muttered ‘oh fuck what did they do’ into a horrified hand before realizing it was an activity report from a math website!

Teacher hack: when you need to take phones away say ‘let me charge your phone for a bit’ and then plug it in at your desk lmfao they are so much better about handing it over

I fucking hate computer classes. They do not teach kids how to type nor how to utilize any online resources nor how to access any word applications or anything of actual use. They literally just babysit the kids for 45 minutes and let them play on their computer doing free time. And I’m stuck teaching the kids all these skills they should already have by 6th grade and should be being fucking taught in their computer classes
