17 - Are they keeping a secret together? How do they feel about that?
Ichirou at one point had a conversation with Jackson after some shit with Smith's Mother and step-family blew up and left Smith exhausted and emotionally drained. Jackson may have used one of Smith's employment bonuses to make sure that specifically Daniel wasn't going to show back up ever again. So the main secret they're keeping together is that Jackson absolutely used Smith's 'one free hit' signing bonus to get rid of Daniel.
20 - What is their best memory together?
(1 Instance here) Their first date that Smith was aware that they were dating. Smith'd been very anxious about what a date would be like and was a bit convinced he'd fuck it up. Especially because Nicky told him about the ultra-romantic date that he took Erik on while Andrew and Neil insisted that they don't do dates even though Smith knows they have the ceremonial Waffle House date. Then the dates happening and it's just fun. He's hanging out with the two people he likes to hang out with the most in the world and every once in a while now Matthew will kiss his cheek and Jackson will hold his hand. It's simple, perfect, and one of his best memories.
22 - When were they the most vulnerable with each other?
Smith starts dating Jackson and Matthew happily but then the anxiety crept in after him. They have a kid together (Ophellia), are so beautiful/handsome, and have a long history together (childhood friends). Smith is only human and he's an anxious human. It doesn't help that his parent's relationship ended really badly and a part of him worries if he even is capable of being loved in a relationship. He's waiting for the other shoe to drop. He's sure that it'll drop any day now. He graduates, they graduate, they move in together, they build their adult lives, they have the twins, and the whole time Smith is waiting for the moment it turns. The twins coming makes it feel like it's coming. 3 kids is when everything went wrong with his parents. But it doesn't then Matthew is telling him that he's pregnant with another baby and based on what they were getting up to it is more than likely Smith's first biological baby and Matthew has so many more problems during this pregnancy and Smith feels like it's his fault. That Matthew is going to hate this baby because he wasn't so sick with Ophellia and the twins. That Smiths aren't lovable like Gordons are. Smith breaks when he finds Matthew crying in the bathroom. Apologizing for everything and begging Matthew not to hate the baby. Matthew is, of course, absolutely thrown off by this because like the crying is more crazy hormone swing and also puking sucks but he's pulling Smith into his arms because 'oh shit Smith's ugly crying'. He manages to get Jackson to turn around and come home and Matthew gets an understanding about how distraught Smith is at the thought of them hating the baby because he feels like Smiths aren't really meant to be loved. He's wrong because they do and they're very excited to be having this baby. They really really really really really love him and by the end of the whole catharting process Smith more or less understands that his two partners love him and that isn't going to change.

Fluent Freshman Chapter 73 Is OUT
Chapter 73 is out and tomorrow is dear Smith's birthday (both in the fic and IRL, weird).

3. What were their first impressions of each other? How does that compare to their impressions now?
Jackson met Matthew in kindergarten. Jackson sat alone squeezing a stuffed black bear his brother Seth got him for his birthday after saving every cent abd dollar he could find to do so. Jackson had attempted to sit with the boys in his class but the only kid who wanted to sit with him wore "her" hair in little pig tails and a shirt with turtles marching on it. "She" complimented his stuffed bear and showed him "her" stuffed catapliller. They were easy and quick best friends. Jackson thought Matthew was very fun to be around. Matthew thought Jackson was weird but in a very good away. He wanted to get him to be loud and talk a lot like him. He never did but he liked that.
Now Jackson finds himself so lucky that Matty came to him to be friends. Matthew is so genuine, kind, caring, and sweet. Jackson doesn't think he deserves to be his partner and believes that he can do so much better. But Matthew doesn't like it when he mentions it, so he doesn't.
Matthew, on the other hand, just wants to hold onto Jackson for as long as he can. He lived his nightmare, and he'll do everything he can to not actually lose Jackson this time. He can't lose him. Jackson is so thoughtful and honest and attentive. He's observant and keeps him safe. He needs to not lose Jackson.
When Jackson met Smith he saw Smith as the only genuine person on the PSU foxes in the FF timeline. In Jackson's story line he sees Smith as the most genuine teammate that he has. He admires Smith's willingness of being a team player and it makes his year being a roommate with Jack all worth it. Smith is the only one allowed to call him Jackson besides Matthew. Jackson isn't even sure if Smith knows he was going by Cole originally.
Nowadays, Smith is one of the few good things in his life. Jackson knows he can talk to him about anything and lean on him. He knows Smith loves him. But most importantly he thinks Smith can do better then him. He believes that Smith and Matthew should run away together and leave him behind and yet he knows they'd never do it.
Matthew didn't initially notice Smith first. Not until after he saw him play at a Foxes game. Then his brain put together that he was watching his boyfriend's new freshman roommate play. He enjoyed talking about him when it comes to food and baking sense he didnt get to do that with Jackson.
Nowadays, Matthew finds himself noticing Smith even if Smith is trying to sneak around. He loves how Smith can tell when something is wrong before he expresses it. He loves how Smith knows his preferences down to an exact science. He knows hes lucky that Smith loves him for him.
Smith's first impressions of Matty and Jackson were very self deprecating. He thought they were just so beautiful that he didn't have a shot a being noticed. Why would he when they actually shine like stars? He was very plan compared to them both.
Currently, he doesn't know how he caused them to fall in love with him, but he won't jinx it. They are his, and he's keeping them. They are his Miso and Corazon, and nothing will ever change that.

Jackson about Matthew:
"He's my best friend and everything thats good about this world. I dont know where id be without him and im so lucky I get to be his and hes mine. Hes stunning and just over all amazing. He knows exactly how to fix every problem I've ever had, or at least support me through them. I'll never be good enough for him, but im glad he still chooses me."
Jackson about Smith:
"Smith is my first friend i made without Matthew's intervention. He liked me for me. He sees good where I can't and shows it to me. Hes so handsome and I dont know how people can't see it. I wish I could make him see it."
Matty about Jackson:
"He's tall, strong, handsome, and athletic. He made me want to cheer and im so glad he did. Im so thankful he did. He doesn't see it but he really is amazing. Hes just been hurt to much. Me and smith will make him see that one day I think. I hope we do at least."
Matthew about Smith:
"Okay, so he shares some, and only some, similarities with that pops artist beiber or whatever but hes so much more handsome then him. And 100 times the better person. Smith once stayed buy well past the time needed for rest to talk Jackson down from a panic attack. He didn't need to fo that. I was on my way. But he did because that's Smith. He's Smith."

12. Do they have any affection for each other? How do they show it?
This is so complicated because Duh they have affection for each other. It's all their worst nightmare to lose each other. But they show in everything they do for each other.
Jackson has ARFID so Matty and Smith try to find safe foods so Jackson can experience their love for food.
Smith (and at a lesser extent Matty) is lactose intolerant so Jackson does his own hunting for trying to find a milk substitute that he likes so they dont have to have milk in their home/dorm.
Jackson needs a strong routine or he'll forget his meds so Matty and Smith both work at making the routine their routine.
Jackson and Smith carry central supplies on them for Matthew.
They all do little things that make each other feel seen and loved.

20 - What is their best memory together?
There are so many 'best' memories and as corny as it is their wedding is definitely up in the running for the top. They can't get fully legally married because of uh.........legal reasons but they still have a wedding and swear in front of all their most important people that they're going to be together their entire lives. Their kids are part of the ceremony. It's all so much joy and the whole event is full of love.
21 - What is their worst memory together?
There's quite a few moments that feel like the worst but for Jackson and Matthew one of the worst moments is when they find out about Smith's job working for Ichirou because they're told that Smith has been shot. Like already a stressful thing but add on top of that finding out that Smith was working for the family that resulted in Seth's death? It was a lot. Jackson stayed right next to Smith, mean mugging Ichirou whenever he came to visit and was very very relieved when Smith woke up but you bet your sweet ass the conversation that followed was more painful than the gunshot.
very very important question: how do matthew and jackson react to the lovely smithy riding a motorcycle? and how does smithykins misunderstand the reaction?

Matthew's mom is a trauma surgeon and has told him so many horror stories about motorcycle accidents but like....hot damn Smith looks really good on that motorcycle.
Jackson has no such internal conflict and just thinks Smith looks real hot.
As for Smith's reaction he straight up is unaware of anything with it other than the fact that him being on a motorcycle makes Matthew kind of nervous so he gets more protective gear which uh...kind of only makes the whole look even hotter for both of them. Smith tugs on his protective gloves and Jackson may walk into a wall.
