Portico de la Gloria of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, # Spain culminating work of European Romanesque, made by Master Mateo and his collaborators in the 2nd half of the s. XII by order of the King of Leon Fernando II, who donated one hundred maravedíes annually, between 1168 and 1188. On April 1, 1188, the lintels of the portico were placed, which was originally polychrome. The ensemble was completed in 1211, and the temple was consecrated with the presence of King Alfonso IX. An ambitious restoration process, begun in 2009, has made it possible to stabilize the complex and preserve this polychromy. On June 28, 2018, the new image of the wonderful portico was presented.
