Happy in the shade Jacobinia or Brazilian plume flower (justicia carnea or jacobinia carnea), also flamingo flower, is a flowering plant native to the Atlantic forests of eastern Brazil. Although it’s tropical it likes a moist shaded spot. I’ve never deliberately grown it, just transplanted it occasionally. Pretty flowers but needs to be cut back or it gets spindly and messy. You can strike it from cuttings. #oneadayplant Jacobinia ‘Firefly’. (Brazilian Fuchsia) (Syn. Justicia) Spotted this at a nursery yesterday. I’ve seen it before several times, but never grown it as (to my knowledge) it has never been that hardy and I didn’t like it enough to bother overwintering it indoors. Pretty, but not durable. Interestingly, it was outside and just coming in to flower, so perhaps it is more robust than I thought?! (Untested).
