Her eyes well up with tears, and before she can stop, she races to Jade's side, grabbing her arm, "You can't."

"You," she growls, wrenching her arm away, "stay out of this, and you," she shoots a glare at Beck, "we're finished. Have fun with your red head." She gapes as Jade stalks away, then looks up at Beck.

"What red head?" Beck puts a hand on her shoulder, but she wriggles away from him, staring up at him with wide eyes, realizing what Jade had meant. Okay, so maybe the plan really wasn't working out.
