Rules: It’s time to love yourselves! Choose your 5 (or so) favourite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world in 2020. Tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works.
I was tagged by @jadedbirch and was like, ‘but I’ve only written two fics?’ And then I remembered I actually did write more and create other things, so thank you for reminding me that I have been creative! 😘
My top five 2020 creative projects:
1. (Filling) Empty Spaces
I dusted off our favourite fandom bicycle, threw a wench at him, stashed them into a quarantine, let them percolate for a week (or two, IDK), and this came out of the empty space. ;)
2. Crisp
I managed to write whole four (4) drabbles from The 100 autumn prompts, but my favourite was crawling inside Bellamy’s head on his journey home.
*
IDK if you remember but one of my wishes/resolutions for this year was to learn to crochet and I did not lose any time and started it straight in January (which was good because later would’ve been harder) and I’ve made quite a few things.
*
3. My favourite was a pair of amigumi budgies I forgot to take a picture of, but my bestie loved her birthday present and that was the whole point!
4. My second favourite crochet project was this basket of rose blooms for my mother’s birthday.
5. And then December came around and I went a bit more out of my way with decorating for Christmas than usually and I am very pleased with the idea I came up with this set-up:
*
Altogether I wrote two fics & four drabbles, made quite a few crochet things (including an Easter egg, some coasters, a cell phone wrap and two scarves - one that got quite a bit of use already and the other which has not yet had an opportunity to shine because I haven’t gone anywhere), and I also creatively (re)organised some drawers and closets around my place.
So, really, thank you for reminding me of positive things! ❤️
Tagging: @lglorien, @bea2me, @wellwhataboutme, @eveningspirit / @t-lane-writes, @abedsmessedupmeta, @serindiyoza, @dragormir, @stargazerdaisy and whoever else wants to do it (because I surely forgot some people, sorry). As usually feel free to ignore and/or be creative about what you’ve been creative at! ;)
Laura, I miss your beard reviews. Can you please tell me how you rate Aidan Turner's lastest Look? 💕
Damn, you know how to indulge me, El. I miss reviewing beards too. I’ve got myself balls deep in a new ship where I don’t have the opportunity to wax lyrical about facial hair every other paragraph and honestly it’s a hell of a shame.
Aidan Turner’s new look though. This look:
God. Fucking. Damn. I saw that post the other day and it actually punched me in the tits and left me lying in the gutter. What the fuck, man?
That’s a beard you could get lost in. That’s a beard that’s hiding mysterious ancient temples, lost for thousands of years to the mists of time and the thorny embrace of mother nature, along with the last isolated colony of a species long thought extinct. That’s a beard that hunts cryptids in its spare time, but only to throw other people off the scent that it is itself attached to a cryptid, trying and failing to disguise him from the hawk-eyed, post-Buzzfeed Unsolved world. There’s a solid chance that what we’re looking at is a relative of Bigfoot and he’s just shaved eye-holes in his full-coverage face fur. That peppering of grey is a sign that he’s coming into his full power. Soon he’ll be a silverback, the dominant male of the entire planet, and frankly it’s about fucking time we had the kind of truly feral leadership we deserve.
The slick suit, the pocket square, the sunglasses, the errant curl on his forehead: all carefully crafted human-bait to draw us into his orbit, but not too close, so that when the time comes we won’t be killed outright in the initial blast but we’ll be close enough to succumb to the effects of the god-like, testosterone-fuelled power he’s already radiating at moderately dangerous levels.
In short, this look is primal, awe-inspiring, knee-weakening, and capable of instilling a paradoxical mix of deeply unsettling existential dread and bone-deep reassurance. 10/10, would sit on.
Happy birthday to my fellow cancer and all around rock star! I know it's really a bummer to try and be festive right now, but hit me up if you want to Zoom or not Zoom together (yay introvert party time). 💕💕💕
That’d be so cool! We’ve never hung out together to that capacity and I think that’d be a great way to hang out sometime ♥️ I’ll hit you up privately!! Thank you so much for the sweet message- hurray for the best weepy, homebody star sign of all!
jadedbirch replied to your post “PSA: Tales of the City on Netflix (new). I started it yesterday...”
Tales of the City better be HELLA GAY, it's Armistead Maupin and takes place in SF in the 70's (at least the original book and show did)
@jadedbirch Well so far it’s present-day setting, with lots of character development building on their history together from those earlier days and their relationship to Olympia Dukaki’s character. Definitely HELLA GAY, all caps are required. And the SF setting was one of the reasons I decided to hit the ‘play’ button lol.
Oh and (minor spoiler) every ending ends with the pride flag as a full screen shot. :)

( ♪ American Money - BØRNS ) | “A song had been playing in the background, something vaguely bluesy and alternative, smooth and wistful, and Flint caught himself staring at John’s hips as they swayed to the melody. / John finally came back, carrying both his cell phone and an empty mason jar with a bill inside. He had been mouthing along to the lyrics of the song.”
