Apparently I'm in a Jadichi mood today so have this song plus some lyrics that I mildly altered to fit Jaden's perspective better:

{Finding fluff balls in a needle pile}

Takes place some time following Kokichi’s suicide attempt. Kurochi wakes up without Jaden in bed, but much to his relief finds both him and Kokichi sleeping peacefully on the couch. (Starts with light angst, ends with fluff)

Kurochi stirred, flipping over in bed to reach for his boyfriend, only for his arm to fall against cold empty sheets. His eyes fluttered open.

Head stuffed with morning cotton, he struggled to sit upright. The comforter slid down his torso to pool in his lap, heavier than normal while Kurochi still ran through the disoriented process of waking up. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes, blinking away his blurry vision as if it would make Jaden materialize on his side of his bed. When he didn’t, Kurochi’s stomach knotted.

He remembered the struggle Jaden was going through as of late, how distant he’d been. As he thought of the red flags, fear clenched around his chest like a fist crushing his windpipe. It dragged Kurochi back down into his previous insecurities, how he couldn’t help Kokichi, he couldn’t help Jaden, he was useless to help…

His breathing labored, Kurochi shook his head so hard he could hear his brain rattling around inside it. Stop. Just because he woke up alone--just because Jaden’s side of the bed was cold like no one had been in it for hours--that didn’t mean Jaden wasn’t elsewhere in the house. Maybe he’d fallen asleep on the couch.

With that thought in mind, Kurochi held his anxiety at bay. He flung the blanket off him and got up, leaving the blanket in a pile to the side. The morning cold quickly chilled his toes, but he didn’t bother to rummage around for socks and instead opted to go straight downstairs to the living room. He had to make sure Jaden was there before anything else.

He rounded the corner, into the room, and relief diffused all the tension from his body the moment the couch came into view. Both Jaden and his brother on the couch. Jaden’s cheek rested on the back of the couch, Kokichi slumped over with his head against Jaden’s arm. Both had evidently passed out that way, with similar soft, peaceful faces.

Fond warmth bloomed in his heart, filling his entire chest with a light bubbly sensation that brought a smile to his face. Two people he loved so much--his boyfriend and his brother--sleeping without a hint of worry in their expressions. He went to the couch, perching on the arm next to Jaden. A secret smile played on his lips; he couldn’t help but tenderly touch the side of his face, drawing his thumb affectionately across Jaden’s cheek.

Jaden sighed, and his eyelids fluttered open. The tiny smile grew.

“Morning, love,” he whispered the moment Jaden’s eyes met his.

Jaden lifted a hand to rest over the one Kurochi laid gently against his face. His fingers curled around the back of Kurochi’s hand, tucked against his palm, and turned his forehead into it. Kurochi slid onto the couch to join him, their knees touching.

“Good morning,” Jaden whispered back. He kissed the underside of Kurochi’s wrist, squeezing his hand. “I love you.” He kissed the tips of his fingers. “I love you so much.”

Kurochi didn’t know where the fervency in Jaden’s tone came from, but butterflies filled his stomach, flitting around wildly as his body grew warmer. He forgot about his icy cold feet and leaned against Jaden’s shoulder. On the other side, his brother still slept away. Kurochi closed his eyes; he remembered back when they were children, living for a time with Jaden’s family. It was the first time in a long while he’d felt so at peace, by the time they had to go.

He could melt into Jaden, and would never fear anything as long as they were together. Jaden felt like home to him.

“I love you too, Jay,” he said and nuzzled into Jaden’s shoulder.

This was written for day 21 of @oumaevents‘s Ouma Month, with the prompt "Birthday!" Duh, what else am I gonna do on the twins bday? More angst? I mean, now that you mention it...

Day 23 for Ouma Month: Hanahaki AU / Silence / Emptiness

Jaden, the boy who rarely speaks that Kokichi may or may not have a crush on, betrays him. In a video game. And laughs about it. Crush totally disowned.

Kokichi cried out in protest as his character slipped off the stage, nudged off by Jaden’s. The Game Over screen flashed, and he turned to Jaden with a pout. Jaden’s shoulders shook with unrestrained laughter, clear proof that the cold-blooded (video game) murder was absolutely intentional.

“Jaden!” he exclaimed, shoving the other boy’s shoulder. “Now we both have to start over! We’re supposed to work together!”

Jaden covered his mouth as if it would hide his mirth. After a couple moments, he signed, “The checkpoint isn’t that far back, it’s fine,” before devolving back into laughter.

Kokichi huffed. “You’re so mean.”

“It was funny though.” Jaden had the gall to not look one bit apologetic for it.

Pouting, Kokichi threw his entire weight against Jaden’s side, as if having him slumped on him counted as ample punishment. A tiny secret part of him simply enjoyed their closeness. If he could find an opportunity to lay on his friend--best and only friend, aside from his brother--then he would snatch it up.

“You better watch out. I’m gonna take my revenge on you when you least expect it,” he warned, though the threat apparently fell flat as Jaden shook with renewed giggles. Although Jaden signed ‘yes’ to him a couple times, their position making doing so awkward, Kokichi felt that the other was only making fun of him.

“I mean it, you better be careful now,” he repeated. In truth, Jaden was probably right to not feel threatened. It was a game that Kokichi was new to, and which Jaden had played extensively. The chances of Kokichi being able to one-up Jaden and knock his character down were slim to none.

He would get his revenge though. He’d make sure of that.

What’s a meme/quote that reminds you of Jadochi? Or Kairochi? All of the Rochi Ships (that you wanna do)? And how about Jadichi?

I can’t come up with memes/quotes myself for the life of me, so I just looked through random quotes until something reminded me of them. Only did the 3 ships mentioned in the ask, otherwise we’ll be here all day.

Jadochi - “A sense of duty is useful in work, but offensive in personal relations. People wish to be liked, not be endured with patient resignation.“ (Bertrand Russel)

This is possibly more general for Kurochi in a relationship, because he has to unlearn his tendency to resign himself to things he doesn’t want to do, because it’s his “duty” to as a partner. It’s very unhealthy, and something he mostly disentangles himself from with Jaden. Jaden is also really patient with him, but not in the negative way mentioned in the quote.

Kairochi - “If you greatly desire something, have the guts to stake everything on obtaining it.” (Brendan Francis)

This is obvious for Kaito, but it’s true with Kurochi, too. It’s just most things that he wants, he’ll suppress/second-guess himself into inaction. But he does work hard and persevere, and he’ll sacrifice a lot for the sake of things (or people) he does care about. So it seems fitting for both him and Kaito together.

Jadichi - “Anger repressed can poison a relationship as surely as the cruelest words.” (Dr. Joyce Brothers)

Less anger, but self-hatred. Jaden and Kokichi are similar in this way, and it hurts both themselves and the other person. It’s something they need to learn to healthily express, before it gets to a snapping point.

Also every time I find a song where Kura sings something that Jaden can relate to I desperately cry over the fact Jaden can’t speak above a whisper because what if he had this voice????

Writing Prompts

The overhang provided meager shelter for the two of them, squeezed together beneath as the rain rolled over just before them. Kokichi dramatically bemoaned their awful luck, clothes soaked through before they’d managed to get out of the rain. Jaden laughed silently, shoulders shaking from Kokichi’s antics.

Their shoulders were so close together, Jaden’s body heat radiating into Kokichi’s arm. It was distracting, and Kokichi trailed off into silence. The crashing sound of rain on the pavement dominated the world once more.

Unfortunately, their overhang still wasn’t adequate. Water managed to sneak its way through the cracks; Jaden inhaled sharply at the sudden cold on his shoulder, jumping to move out from under its assault.

Kokichi squeaked, suddenly driven back against the wall of their temporary shelter, Jaden’s hands braced to either side of him. His cheeks burned, but the taller boy looked over his shoulder, eyes tracing the source of the leak up to the roof. Once found, he chuckled quietly, and turned his face to Kokichi to tell him.

Then he saw the glowing red of Kokichi’s face, and noticed just how close the two of them were. Both soaked, Kokichi’s hair sticking to his skin, clothes clinging to his body. Warmth crept up into Jaden’s cheeks, and he swallowed thickly, lips suddenly dry.

He parted them as if to speak, but his brain seemed to have lost the ability to form coherent thoughts. In the end he averted his gaze, willing his eyes not to wander.

Kokichi had similar troubles. He opened his mouth, eyes drawn up to Jaden’s lips--reddened from the cold. Jaden’s body heat still seemed to seep into him, adding fuel to his own burning chest. Normally he would cover up his own feelings with a joke, teasing Jaden for being so obviously attracted to him that he couldn’t even stand being away.

In the end, his mouth was too dry to make a sound. He jerked his eyes away, and tried hard not to think about how easily Jaden could push him up against a wall.

Neither moved, unable to break the delicate balance held between them.
