Week One
From the moment you met Jaebum that day in the bar after a stressful day at work and him trying to ‘drink the shitty things I’ve done away’ you knew there was something about him that was different. Now whether or not that was a good or bad different only sparked your interest in him even more. He was just a charming guy wanting to get drunk and forget the world—he was just your type.
You tried hard to forget the memories of the previous night, the candlelight dinner with the wine and the slow dancing—God you had let yourself crumbled from his touch. His hands last night caressed your body, fingers gliding across every sensitive part of your he could see. You hated yourself for making it that easy for him to get into your panties but yet here you were in bed, his bed blushing and smiling as you covered yourself with the black blanket even more.
You felt him stir for a second before settling down and sighing to himself. He was awake, he only did that the moment his eyes opened in the morning. He coughed, and you were lucky that your back was to him. You were full of panic at the thought of having to face him eventually. Maybe if you closed your eyes and went back to sleep…
“I know you’re up, you move around a lot when you’re too lazy to get out of bed.” There was a bittersweet feeling to his tone. As if he was trying to get you to go back to the sweet times where waking up next to him was the best feeling in the world, but really you both knew that right now, this shit was the effect of a bitter night of drinking away the hurt both of you had.
You said nothing to him as you sat up in the bed and looked at the nightstand beside you for the bottle of water you kept. You took a drink of it, holding it in your hand as you tighten your grip when he decided to follow and sit up as well. “I know this is a stretch but—it gets lonely in here and I want to know if you want to sleep in here like you use to.”
“You can stay for breakfast if you’d like. I’m not letting you go out without eating.” You looked at the man with a smile, he met you at the bar, slept with you and now he’s offering breakfast after good sex? That sounded fucking amazing to you but it felt like you were taking too much from him.
“That’s nice, you’re nice. Thank you but I should go.”
“No I can’t let you walk out of here without something to eat. Stay.“ There was authority in his voice, but yet it sounded as if he was almost begging you to keep him company as it didn’t look like he had people over all the time. It was Saturday and work wasn’t until Monday, plus with a mini hangover it would be nice to spend the day with someone new.
You eyed him, but the smile he had on his face made you soften. “On a scale of one to ten how good of a cook are you?”
“I rank myself a four but my chef is fifteen.”
You shook your head, “you are stretching it. Don’t let last night put ideas in your head-”
“Y/N you’re killing me, please.”
“I”m killing you because you’re the one who stripped me of my freedom. Im Jaebum you are fucking crazy.”
“Stop punishing me!” He yelled causing you to jump at the unexpected rage from him. You turned to him, not noticing that he stood up and his fists were closed. “Christ stop punishing me woman!“ Of course, he was always a man who knew nothing of how to deal with a bad temper, but for you and only you did he try his best to hold back—now though it seems like he was set on trying to intimidate you in any form.
Despite his voice that boomed you did not let fear run through you, that was the last thing that would happen. “Stop punishing you? So me not taking any of your bullshit is punishing you? Next time why don’t you not stalk me and force me back here with you!”
He rolled his eyes as a bitter chuckle left him. “I’m done with this I have to go to work.”
“Yeah, you’re done because you know I’m right and you can’t defend yourself. That’s why you’re done, quite frankly I’m done as well. Have—no have a horrible day at work Jaebum.”
“Have a good day at work.” You kissed his lips as you fixed his tie once more letting him mumble something under his breath. “What did you say?” You smiled at him teasingly, he rest his hands on your hips pulling you in closer.
He hummed, “I said that I love you very much-”
“No you didn’t. But you can say that again.”
“I love you very much. Oh and are we still on for seven this evening? I can cancel the reservation if you want to just stay in.”
“It’s okay love just go I have to get ready too.”
He looked at you, no he fucking stared at you, admiring how beautiful you looked to him right now. He took too much pride in you, you were and are the best part of him. Even if it didn’t seem that way now. Obviously, he was no fool as he was crazy, this was morally and even lawfully wrong but having you here with him even if you were bitter provided a sense of normality to him. He needed you around to make him level headed, in short, he was fucking whipped by you.
You suppose that you could start playing nice with Jaebum, and although he was by means no fool keeping the peace between you two was going to up your chances at staying alive with his bad temper threading on thin ice and having a bit more freedom if he had your trust. It was funny that you needed to gain his trust rather than him gaining yours. This whole situation was fucked up and you wish that each time you woke up that: 1) Things between you and Jaebum would be how they use to, where you were oblivious. 2) Or you were alone in your little apartment that you found after leaving him, only this time he wasn’t chasing after you.
He took you into work with him, your own job at the moment on existent and you’re pretty sure that from Monday all the way till now that your boss was considering firing you for being M.I.A for three days. Oh and your friends and family, thinking about how many calls and texts and overall life you’re missing out on brought tears to your eyes. You had thought about asking for your shit back but by the looks of it, you weren’t getting them back anytime soon.
“You need to learn about the shit that I do here and why it’s important to keep you safe.” He was too quick for you as he walked hastily with his grip on your hand tight. You tried to take in as much of the surroundings you could, the brick walls, how some men dressed up in suits and other were in normal everyday attire and the smell of something unusual as he guided you to the end of the hall where two men guarded the next door.
Upon seeing Jaebum they both stepped aside and opened the door for you both. As you passed them you could feel the stares they gave your back, curious as to why their boss’ girl was in such a horrible place. This place wasn’t made for a person like you, further more no one would have ever thought that they’d lay eyes on you based on the way Jaebum was protective of you and only a select few had the honor of meeting you.
“This is one way I make my money.”
You were in shock, partially by the confusing smell of the underground fighting club and partially by the way one man in the ring had got his teeth knocked out. Blood flowed from his mouth as he endured yet another hit to the face, this time right in his eye. “What the—,” you couldn’t watch it any longer, you instinctively buried your face into Jaebum’s chest and let him hold you.
“What is she doing here?” You heard that familiar voice that almost made you smile but given the reality of this fucked up dilemma…
Jaebum held you a bit more closer to him. “I have to show her what really goes down. That what I do goes back to her, if I’m in danger then so is she.” You couldn’t bring yourself to take your face from his chest, being there calmed you down—like a baby pressed against their mother’s skin. “How much did you bet Mark?“
“Thirty five hundred.”
“Sounds like a low amount.”
“Young jin was pushing towards fifteen hundred when we first got here. Be grateful.”
You watched the way Jaebum looked at Mark, like he was going to smack him any second. “I’m always grateful. Where’s Kim?”
“He’s in the room. I wouldn’t bother him while he’s in there it’s pretty intense boss.”
Who the hell were they talking about? What was this special room for? So many questions were in your head but you said nothing as Jaebum had his hand on your hip protectively as you both walked into the crowd of men gathered around the boxing ring. You squeezed his hand as you watched the man from earlier get kicked in his face. Everything about this place was so wrong that you couldn’t even form a single thought. From the smell that now traced back to the blood on the floor.
“My work is more than just killing people Y/N.”
“I mean that man is damn near dead.“
Jaebum had told Mark and Jinyoung to escort you up to his office as he dealt with some other men—and based on how twisted Jaebum and his men are known to be, thinking about it made you shiver. You sometimes wondered whether or not he got tired of playing the same games of life each day or whether or not men like Mark and Jinyoung would ever find a sense of normality as they deserved at least that. Especially BamBam who was sucked into this world at a far too young age, he needed to get his life back.
Mark had jokingly said that this is where people who can’t follow rules get their fingers cut off, but by the look Jinyoung gave him you’d come to guess that Jaebum was over here slicing off his men’s fingers. “Do you ever think about leaving?”
“Doesn’t everyone at one point? I mean you left Jaebum.”
“Mark-”
“He’s right I tried to leave, we all have to do what’s best for us.” Being in his office felt strange, your muscles tensed up at the slightly movement made by either Mark or Jinyoung and you got that feeling of being watched wherever you went. “How is he…as a boss?” You were curious about how other people viewed him, and as he obviously was definitely different being in your presence it was nice to hear other people speak about his character.
You turned around to the two men, Jinyoung was studying you and Mark was smiling shyly at you as he always did. As shy as Mark looked he was a secret madman just like Jaebum, and as much as Jinyoung looked like he was going to kill everyone he secretly has a hard time keeping it together on the job. To you they were mad for having a job like this, and to them you were equally as mad for staying with I’m Jaebum even after he had told you what he did for a living.
“Your the last person we’d talk about him to.”
“You can trust me Jinyoung.” I hate him too, you wanted to tell him, and a few days ago you would have said it with pride but now, after spending last night with Jaebum, and being in his arms earlier it was like you was getting that spark back. Like you were reminded of how good he was to you. “I won’t tell him a thing, I just wanted to know if he treated you all well.”
Mark laughed bitterly, “this is the fucking mafia, no one gets treated good.”
“Not good but just tell me that he isn’t beating the crap out of you all for every little thing. We all know how crazy he is—”
Mark crossed his arms, biting his lip harshly. “Yeah well we’re all crazy.” All you could do was look at him, because he was right, he was so painfully right.
After an hour passed you made yourself comfortable by sitting in his chair and taking off your jacket and replacing it with his spare one that he kept on the back of his chair. It was a bit tight knowing that Jaebum was not all muscles but rather more lean than anything. Nonetheless it still fit you good enough to keep you warm in his cold office. Jinyoung had left to help with the many shipments that they were receiving, drugs and weapons most likely but you kept your questions to yourself only managing to pull a look of distaste when Jaebum caught sight of you.
An hour apart from Jaebum felt like an eternity. With nothing to do but scribble on the notepad he kept on his desk you resorted to closing your eyes hoping that you would eventually fall asleep. Only that didn’t happen. What happened was Jaebum storming into his office pointing a finger at Mark telling him to go handle some business down at the club that his father owned, something about a man taking the whores without paying them. By then it was clear that Jaebum’s work wasn’t all about being a madman who murdered people—given he was still a madman but his job had much more deep shit than cutting off penises and stuffing them in someone’s ass.
“Mark hasn’t been giving you trouble has he?” He sat on the chair across from you, as if you were the boss and he was your worker. You thought about getting out of that chair before your head got too big. “You’re wearing my jacket?“
"Yeah I decided to make myself comfortable since I’m not going anywhere.”
“Stop being pouty, you look cute like that. You know I hate that shit—”
“How can you work in here? This place feels so odd and—I don’t know how to explain it. Mark he was nice he’s always nice, why were you going to cut off his finger?”
He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, he's never cut off anyone's fingers before as the most he's done to his employees were beat their ass and threaten the life out of them enough to keep them straight for years. But no, no cutting off anyone's fingers. "I've never done that baby, who told you that?"
You closed your eyes hoping to find more peace in doing so than by looking at the blank grey wall until something entertaining would pop up. "More like a joke but I just wanted to know how you're like at work. I know you're so different from when you're at home with me."
He chuckled, "I can't believe that I turn soft with you." There was a silence in between his sentences, and even with your eyes closed you knew that he was staring at you, admiring how strong you were as a person. "I don't know what you do to me. It's like when I'm with you I'm not as crazy anymore. I'm normal."
"For what it's worth I'm the opposite, you make me crazy. I'm suppose to hate your guts for putting me through so much but I don't. I know that with everything you do you have a reason. So tell me what those reasons are, and why should I not hate you?"
Jaebum licked his lips, he had felt his stomach drop with fear of the unknown when it came to you, but as his stomach dropped his heart remained the same, full of only love and happiness whether it be for or with you. He had so many reasons as to why he kept you to himself, he had the same amount for he reasons why you shouldn't hate him, both things went hand and hand, piece by piece creating something beautiful. He wanted to start off with the whole, “I need to protect you” speech but with you that wouldn't work no matter how much of it was true. For a woman like you you needed something more meaningful than that.
He stood up, started to pace around the room looking at you and then the clock on the wall. Time was ticking is what it was telling him, and damn he was trying so hard to convince you to look at him like the Jaebum you use to know and love; but that was proving difficult. "I can't live without you, when you left there was a part of me missing and I felt so empty. Y/N I literally cannot live without you, I tried but I don't want to ever go through that again. You mean so much to me, I love you so much that I'm selfish."
"Tell me why I shouldn't hate you."
"Because..." he was thinking about reaching for the pack of cigarettes in his desk but realizing that you were in here with him made him think twice. The urge to just climb over the desk and make love to you on his couch was making his head spin. All he wanted was for you to love him back, to be fine with being with him, and to just touch him the way you use to. "You just managed to make a madman speechless. You just made me crumble to your knees, I will do it again if I have to."
You watched him, you watched how he walked over to you and pushed your chair to an angle where he was in between your legs, on his knees with his arms ready to hold your waist. "I can't live without you, I need you, and I love you. I won't live without you again. Please baby I love you so much, please."
And you believe him, because as crazy as it sounds, the love you have for him, matches up to the love he has for you. Hell if Jaebum tried to leave you'd have grown into a madwoman too.
"I love you too," you wanted to say.
But you said nothing.
A|N: Finally I have finished, I realized that Jaebum isn't as Yandere as he was suppose to be originally but I think that's because he's very different around the reader (you). Eh that's a good thing. Next chapter will have slight smut and you finally get to look into Jaebum's past and your past with him. Hope you enjoyed!
