Sitting on the office table, you had been chilling comfortably with Jaebum after the meeting the company have just held, announcing you as the new choreographer as Got7's comeback.
However, the atmosphere changed as soon as Jaebum had started flirting and it all turned worse as soon as he got touchy, not because you didn't like it but because you enjoyed that kind of attention from him way too much.
"Each of my thoughts about you are improper" He whispered tilting his head enough to brush his lips against your neck, stealing a shaky shiver from your lips "I can't get you out of my head" Jaebum mumbled weakly, his hands landimg on your thighs.
"Jaebum...." You moaned quietly with your hands on his chest
"I'm afraid I can't no longer remain professional" He said with a whine, pulling you closer to him and the edge of the bed, wanting you closer to him "Screw foreplay baby, open those legs for me"
sumerry: Jaebum plans to talk to y/n and get her back. Everything is getting back to normal and after a while Jaebum plans on popping the question in his parents backyard.
(Again if I made a mistake please correct me ☺️)
I was on my phone with Jaebum’s mom since I haven't talk to her in a long time, and even if Jae and I weren't together I still care for his parents. I wanted to catch up with her.
“hey y/n how are you sweet heart it’s been so long that you haven't talk to us “ said Jae’s mom
“ I been doing good, been busy doing some work” i responded
“ oh that good, I’m sorry for this but I hope not to he hurt me and I don't know if I can ever forgive him. “ I said getting a little upset
“ I understand that but if he was willing to talk to you I think you should let him talk to him, but if you choose not than that’s okay.” she said sounding sad
“ If he ever wants to talk I will prefer to do it in person so whatever he wants to tell me he can do so in my face.” I said
“ Anyway were have you been staying?” she ask
“ I been staying with my friend Jung Jinyoung” I said well chancing room locations
“ oh that good you have a place to stay.” she said sounding unsure
“ yeah his been there for me since we meet and was there every time I got in a fight with my parents or I had problems with my work.” I said proud of my friendship
“ He sounds like a sweet nice friend, anyways I have to go I need to make dinner. y/n if any time you want to drop by please do so your always welcome here.” she said happily
“ I sure will I miss you guy's so much ill let you know when I have time to come visit.” I told her feeling loved by her
“ of course sweetie well I have to go bye.” she said
“ bye love you” I said well hanging up the phone.
I got up from the chair in the balcony and walk in side. well I was making a cup of tea Jinyoung walk in and told me that he needed cloths for his new drama premier and ask if I could help I’m pick a suit, and I happily agree.
the next day we woke pearly, eat breakfast and we made our way to the mall we booth a few top than me made out way to Jinyoung’s favorite suit store and we enter. as he looked around I followed him and he was giving me some suit’s that he thought they were good and he made his way to the dressing room as I sat out side of them waiting for him to get out.
“ What do you think of this one?” he asked as he got out with a dark green suit
“ I like it but I think that doesn't look good for that type of night ,” I sed looking at the suit jacket
“ okay let me try another one.” he said getting back to the dressing room
“ and this one ?” he asked as he walked out wearing a black and white suit
“ oh I like it.” I said moving him back to see the back of it.
“ okay I have two more lets see if you like one of those better” he said walking back to the dressings room.
after he try out the other two suit we both liked the all gray suit and we walked to the casher and paid. after that we went to a dress shop and I told him Wanted a new dress and as soon as we walked in I saw the perfect dress and I garbed it and when to try it out. When I saw it on me I New I had to get it.
when we walk out we went to a ice cream store and got out order and sat down, we talk about our jobs and other stuff. when we got home we made dinner and watch a movie and cuddle Blue.
I was at the mall getting new clothes and when I was walking pass a store i saw y/n with another man and I felt like my hole world was gonna came down onto me I felt so hurt so stupid I saw the only girl that I have ever love with another guy and all my hopes on getting her back went out the window.
I was at work when my cousin called me again asking if I talk to y/n and i told her what I saw at the mall but the only thing she told me what to talk to her and find out if she was with some else
I thought of ways to talk to y/n and I finally decided on sending her a text message asking to meet up at a restaurant and she surprisingly she said yes.
the next day I got up early and went to work and when I got back from work I went home to get ready and mentally prepare myself word what ever happens tonight .
the next day I got up and got ready for work. I was doing my own stuff when I got a message from Jaebum asking if we could talk tonight at 7 in a restaurant he send me the address to it and i agree remembering that his mom told me to let Jaebbum explain himself so i send him a message back telling him that ill see him there.
when I got home I went to take a shower and got ready for tonight's meeting with jaebum. once I wad done I told Jinyoung and got on my car and made my way to the restaurant.
When i got there Jaebum was already there waiting for me I got to my table and he help me with my chair like the gentleman he was. We order our food and as we waited we talk he asked me how i was if i was doing good and other basic questions, and after dinner he took me on a walk and we end up at the beach.
we sat down close to the edge of the beach we the water could beardly touch our feet. we stayed there in silence until Jaebum started talking.
“ I saw you the other day with a guy is he your new boyfriend?” he asked me with pain in his voice
“ does that matter? I saw you with a girl too a few weeks ago”
“ what? I haven't gone out with nobody the only female i been seen is my cousin and that because she found out we broke up” Jae said looking down at his feet
“ The boyfriend you think you saw is my best friend Jung Jinyoung” I said looking at jaebum’s shook and embarrassed face.
“wait his not your boyfriend” Jae asked to make sure I said it correctly
“ yeah its the guy that introduced us” i said laughing
“ oh thank god I thought I lost my change to fix my mistakes .”he said getting in front of me as he garbed my hands
“y/n I didn't asked you to meet up to catch up i asked you to meet me so I can I can tell you that I regret saying that I lost feelings for you that I didn’t love you anymore all that’s was a lie I thought that I truly didn’t love you I feel so stupid thinking that I lost feelings for you I needed to lose you to relies that I truly love you that your my everything.” Jae said well squeezing my had.
“ Jae you really did hurt me for saying that I thought that you actually stop loving me you pushed me aside you made excuses to no see me it broke me.”
“ I know it hurt you I can’t imagine all the pain I made you go though but, if you give me a second chance I promise you that I’ll show you how much I love you I’ll show you that I really want to be with you. If you choose not to be with me and give me a chance I’ll understand I’ll walk away from here with no heart feelings.” Jae said looking at me dead in the eyes
“ I’ll give you a chance because I love you and I want to try this but one strike and your out got it and we have to take this slow we can’t just jump to we’re we left of.” I said smiling at him
“ of course I’ll wait for you anytime I’ll do anything you want me to as long as I have you at the end of the night your all the matters to me.” Jae said getting up and pulling me up with him
We walk for a bit more than me drop me off at my apartment and we said our good byes. When I walk inside I saw Jinyoung with my cat watching a movie I sat next to him and told him everything that happens with Jaebum than I took a shower and md went of to sleep.
The next day I went work and got my self busy I got a few messages from Jaebum checking up on me and a few from Jinyoung telling me to eat the lunch he made me. After work I went home and cuddly with my cat and clean up the place.
——————————————————————————
It’s been 3 moths since y/n and I got back together and I was going ask her to move in with me I got a new bigger apartment that had more space for the cats to play and since y/n haves a cat we will be needing more space for it too.
When I got to the new apartment I got started on putting it together I was making space for y/n stuff and I got new cat towers and some cat stuff than I want to the bedroom and got started on putting the bed after I was done I went grocery shopping. When it was 6 I got ready for my date with y/n. My outfit was all black I wanted to feel comfy and look presentable at the same time.
When I got to the y/n and Jinyoung’s apartment I knock on the door and Jinyoung open it for me letting me in we walk to the leaving room and talk waiting for y/n to be done getting ready. After 20 minutes she walk out from the hallway looking like the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, she was wearing a beautiful silk pink dress she was so gorgeous. We walk out out the apartment and said our goodbyes to Jinyoung.
when we got to the restaurant we talk and joke around for a bit and when our food came we ate in a peaceful silence. after dinner we went to for a walk well we ate ice cream than we made our way to my apartment.
when we got there y/n was confuse thinking we were going to my old apartment I just smile and let her in.
“wow Jae this is so big and pretty” I said walking inside
“I’m glad you like it because if you agree you can move in any time you want” I told her
“wait what” she asked surprised
“well yes I want you to move in with me that if you want to of course “ I responded
“wait your not joking right” she said not really believing me
“ y/n will you move in with me ?” I asked her looking at her dead in the eye.
“yes I will love to” she said getting existed
“okay than we can start to bring your stuff here on Monday if that okay with you” I said seating on the kitchen chair
on Monday we started to move all of y/n stuff and since she didn't had to much stuff we ended at 10 pm when we were on the apartment unpacking.
y/n and i were getting ready to go visit my parents house were I had a surprise plan out right after dinner. when we arrived to their house my home opened the door and y/n run to hug them
“ hello sweet heart how are you” my mom said hugging y/n
“I’m doing good and you” y/n said happily
“we are glad wearer grate me we miss you guys so much” my dad said patting her back
“I so happy you guys came the house gets lonely with out you guys here” my mom said pulling me in a hug
“ I know mom but we ben busy” I said looking at the three of them
“ we you guys go to the living room I’m gonna finish cooking” my mom said walking to the kitchen
“ let me help you” y/n said following my mom
“ you don't have to sweet hear go and hung out in the couch” my mom said turning to y/n
“oh no I want to help I will feel bad if I don't” y/n protested
“ well okay lets go” my mom said garbing y/n by the arm
my dad and I went into the leaving room and he asked me about my work and y/n I told him that I was more happy now that I have her and that I will never let her go.
during dinner we talk for a hole hour straight than y/n and my mom got up and clean the dishes and the table and I went out to the back yard to prepare the surprise for y/n with the help of my dad. once everything was ready I went inside and call y/n to the back yard
when she walked our she looked for me and i was standing in the middle of the back yard she looked at me funny and made her way to me once she was standing right in front of me I got on my knee.
“y/n i know that not long ago we got back together but let me tell you that my biggest fear is letting you go and I dot want that to happen again I love you so much and if I don't have you with me I might go crazy because your the only person that knows how to control me and how to make me happy so y/n will you make me the happiest man in the universe and be my wife?” I said well puling the sing out
“ omg Jaebom yes I will love to be your wife my love” y/n said gibing me her hand for me to put the ring on her ring finger
once the ring was on her ring finger she jump on me and kissed me she was smiling so big with some tears rolling down her eyes and telling me how much she loves me I was so happy I finally asked my girl to become my wife.
when we pulled apart my parents came to us and congratulated us my mom also had some happy tears on her I knew that she was proud of we and that she approved of my future wife since day one my dad told me that he was proud of me and he wised us luck on our new chapter of our life.

Summary: You’d never really been a fan of heights, but now it seemed like you didn’t have much of an option but to deal with it.
Warnings: Heights, claustrophobia, elevators, being trapped.
Word Count: 533
Stepping into the elevator at work was never the greatest part of your day, sure the elevator itself wasn’t really an issue but knowing how high from the ground you were was. Thankfully that was sweetened slightly by the fact that the coworker you had a bit of a crush on often arrived in time to share the elevator with you. Today is one of the days you were lucky enough to be with him, and just him.
“Good morning Jaebum, did you have a good weekend?” You question, holding the door for him as he steps in, flashing you a smile.
“Morning Y/N, I did. How was yours?” He asks before leaning over to click the button for you both, then giving you his full attention.
“It was alright.” You chuckle, returning his gaze before shyly looking away, focusing instead on what floor it said you were on now, “I didn’t really do much this weekend if I’m being honest.”
“Ah, but lazy weekends are often the best.” Jaebum muses, before sipping his coffee his attention turns to where yours is, “You don’t like elevators do you?”
“Was it really that obvious?” You wince slightly, his comment having earned your attention again. Though now you had less focus on worrying over how high up you were.
“Not really...well not at first anyway. But every time you’re in it you focus on the floor number and if it goes up you lose some of the color in your face. It’s pretty obvious you don’t like going up.” Jaebum explains some of the little nuances he’s noticed about you.
“Yeah it’s not so much the elevator...more of being high up. But I also work in an office building so there’s not much avoiding that.” You sigh with a soft shrug, before your focus is on the floor number again, brows furrowing as it passes up your floor, “That’s...odd.”
Jaebum hums in agreement watching as it continues to rise as well, before deciding to click the call for help button, smiling at you reassuringly, “Just in case it is being weird for some reason. Either way, it’s gonna need maintenance if it keeps doing this.”
“Yeah, that’s true...” You trail off, watching the number tick up to 26 before your heart stops once more, “Jaebum...doesn’t our building only have 25 floors?”
Jaebum nods slowly as you watch the number continue to rise, before he shakes his head slowly, “The counter must just be broken.”
You watch as he moves to test his assumption, clicking the button to open the doors, watching as they open to the sky. Leaning out he looks down to the roof of your building before starting to slip. You’re quick to grab him though and pull him back in as the doors close.
“What are we going to do now? It’s not stopping and I don’t know of any way for us to get down.” You start to panic as Jaebum gently grabs your arms, guiding you to sit against the back wall to slowly breathe and call down.
“I don’t know yet Y/N, but we’ll think of something I’m sure. We’ll make it out of this okay. I promise you.”

“I freaking hate Tzuyu.”
You groan, dropping your head in your hands. Sympathetically, the bartender slides a glass of water towards you, accepting the grunt that you emit afterwards as a sort of thank you. You pause in your wallowing to take a long sip of the icy liquid, feeling the pressure in your head lift slightly.
“Rough night?”
The bartender’s smooth, baritone voice carries over the loud sounds of the club’s music, and you wince at his words.
“Something like that.”
The bartender looks as though he’ll say more, but he’s cut off by the sound of a high, feminine voice ordering another drink. You’re grateful for the distraction, sliding a wad of bills over the counter and slipping off of the metal stool. You appreciate the kindness he has shown you, but you really need to start looking for your sister.
Slowly, you begin to weave through the throng of clubgoers, searching for anyone who moderately resembles your sister. You wince as an elbow connects with your stomach and bite back a curse when a heel stabs your toe. Still, there is no sign of your sister.
Pushing your way to the far side of the club, you lean against a wall, panting slightly, and pull out your phone. The LED at the top signals that nobody tried to call or text you while you were struggling to navigate a mob of drunk clubgoers, and a knot of worry tightens itself in your stomach. It’s been over an hour since you last saw your sister. She left you at a booth with a few of your mutual acquaintances to go dance, and you haven’t seen her since. Giving them an awkward smile, you had slid out of the booth to go sit at the bar. You were more polite to them because they were your sister’s friends than anything, and you know you hadn’t been imagining the awkwardness that had settled into the air once your sister had left.
You quickly swipe through your phone, silently praying that Tzuyu will answer and tell you she took a cab back to your shared apartment and she forgot to tell you, or that she’s actually been in the bathroom constipated this entire time.
“Hi, this is Tzuyu, I’m busy right now, which is why I didn’t pick up…”
With a groan, you turn your phone off. Pushing yourself off the wall, you weave your way to the bathrooms, opting to begin your second search there. Unsurprisingly, the small metal stalls are empty. You cringe as your shoe sticks to an unknown substance, exiting the bathroom and mind racing about where Tzuyu’s whereabouts could be.
A cool breeze winds itself around you, tousling your hair gently and you freeze.
A breeze?
You turn away from the rest of the clubbers, following the hallway deeper into the building. The further you go, the darker it gets, and a second chill sets upon you, one unrelated to the cool breeze.
Heart pounding, you turn the corner and see a cracked doorway. The soft light of the night greets you, and you feel a spark of relief. Maybe her phone died and your sister went out this door to leave. You quickly hurry out the door, pushing it open and turning down the alleyway.
You’ve only gone a few paces, pulling out your phone to dial your sister again when your foot collides with something hard. Your arms flail as you attempt to right yourself, but you go down, your elbow colliding with something soft and your chin colliding with the hardness of the asphalt.
Letting out a groan, you try to push yourself up by pressing your hands against the ground on either side of you, but they slip. Something wet and sticky coats your hands, and confusion fills you as you blindly reach around you for your phone. Your fingers connect with the cold metal, and you’ve scarcely turned on the device and activated the flashlight before you’re greeted with the mutilated body of your sister.
It takes you a second to register that the loud noise you hear is your own screaming.
You stare blankly ahead of you in shock.
Vaguely, you hear someone talking to you, but it’s like you’re underwater, all the sounds around you muffled. The image of your sister is frozen in your mind, your fingers trembling as you grip the blanket that someone wrapped around you tightly.
You think back to the last time you saw her, only a few hours ago, smiling and joyous and alive.
If she were here with you right now, she would have something comforting to say. She’d always been the more level of you too, somehow able to keep calm even in situations when you’ve felt panicked. But she’s not.
It should have been me, you think bitterly, rocking back and forth.
“Miss L/N.”
A hand settling on your arm causes you to jump and pull yourself out of your trance. Dumbly, you look at the hand, using it to trace your way up the unknown person’s wrist and arm until you can see their face. Concerned eyes stare back at you, and you force yourself to listen to what the unknown man is saying.
“I’m sorry to say this, but your clothes need to be bagged for evidence.”
You blink, unable to process the man’s words.
“Miss L/N, please. I know you want us to catch whoever did this to your sister, and we’re trying our best, but we need to bag your clothing as evidence.”
The mention of your sister clears the fog that has settled over you, and you nod. Weakly, you stand, following the man as he guides you to a restroom. He hands you a bag and a stack of clothes, instructing for you to change into the new set and bag the old clothes.
Robotically, you do as he tells you to until you’re changed into a sweater several sizes too big and a pair of jeans that cling to your legs tightly. You splash water on your face, staring at yourself hollowly in the mirror. You hardly recognize yourself, a foreign, hollow look in your eyes. Get it together, Y/N, you chide yourself. You can cry about this later. For Tzuyu.
Taking a deep, shaky breath, you turn, exiting the bathroom with the bag of your old clothes in your hands. As soon as you exit, several furtive glances are sent your way. You furrow your brows in confusion, and a new, unknown man hurries over to you.
“Please follow me quickly, Miss L/N.”
“I don’t understand.”
The man doesn’t respond, hurrying you through the station and down a hallway until you’re stopped in front of a closed door. A plaque centered on the door reads “Sergeant Park.” Not wasting the time to knock, the man pushes open the door, taking the bag from your hands and ushering you in.
“Miss L/N, I’m so sorry about your loss.”
Hearing those words makes your throat tighten again, and you force your feelings down. You look around you, noting the awards adorning the walls around you. Two men stand inside the office, both wearing grim expressions. The one who spoke is seated behind the desk, and he stands, gesturing for you to take the free seat opposite him.
“There’s something we need to talk to you about.”
“My sister was a good person, she wasn’t mixed up in anything — ” You protest.
“That’s not what this is about.” The man opposite you, Sergeant Park, you assume, holds up his hand. “Time is crucial here, so please just listen to what I have to tell you.”
You nod, throat clogging from fearful anticipation.
“The Black Rose is the name of a powerful crime syndicate who’ve been running for the past few
decades. We’ve tried our best to stop them, but they have connections everywhere.”
“My sister — ” You spring to your feet.
“Miss L/N. Please.”
You sink back into the chair, cheeks burning and thoroughly chastised. Once you’re seated, Sergeant Park continues.
“We’re not sure who all is involved with them, but what we do know is that they mark every kill, and they never kill without reason.”
Your thoughts race as you hear the unspoken words. “And my sister was marked,” you deadpan.
Sergeant Park nods grimly, and a hysterical laugh bubbles up within you. It dies instantly at the serious expression on Sergeant Park’s face.
“That’s ridiculous.”
Sergeant Park purses his lips, speaking slowly. “Until we know for sure, we need you to go into witness protection. We promise that we wouldn’t make you do this if we weren’t sure that your life is at serious risk. Mr. Im?”
Sergeant Park gestures to the other person in the room, who you assume is Mr. Im. Until now, he’s been silent, and you almost forgot that he’s here. He gives you a gentle smile.
“Please, call me Jaebum.” His tone is soothing, and you want to trust him. Still, you bite your lip, hesitant.
Sergeant Park speaks again. “Mr. Im will protect you the entire duration of the program. I promise that you’re in good hands. You guys will leave tonight.”
Alarm bells ring in your head. “Wait, tonight? I don’t understand. I still have finals, and what about my life here — ”
“Miss L/N.” Sergeant Park fixes you with a stern look. “I understand that things may seem intimidating right now, but I need you to do your best to do what we say. You could be a key role in this investigation, and Mr. Im is here to ensure that no harm comes to you. I know that this isn’t ideal, but please just let us protect you.”
You look from Sergeant Park to Jaebum. The latter gives you a reassuring smile, and your head still reels from all of the events of the night, but you find yourself nodding.
“Okay,” you breathe. “Okay, what do I have to do?”
“You keep twisting your bracelet.”
Jaebum’s voice pierces through your mindless thoughts and the dull monotony of the journey. You have been driving for the better part of the night, your thoughts still racing as you try to process everything. You look down at the bracelet Jaebum is talking about, and even though it’s dark you know what he’s talking about.
“My sister gave it to me,” you say simply.
“It must be pretty important to you, then,” he observes, eyes never straying once from the road.
“Something like that,” you say, assuming that’s the end of the conversation. Seconds later, Jaebum speaks again.
“Look, Y/N, I know that a lot has happened in one night — ”
“Please don’t,” you whisper, voice cracking. You clear your throat, staring out the window at the dark shadows of the landscape. “Don’t try to act like you understand how I feel. Twenty-four hours ago I was just a college student, and now…”
You swallow thickly, a lump forming itself in your throat.
“You are still just a college student, Y/N.”
“You know, aren’t you supposed to be using my new name?” You force yourself to change the topic, looking at Jaebum out of the side of your eyes.
Jaebum coughs awkwardly. “We aren’t there yet, and I thought that using your real name would make you more…comfortable with me.”
You scoff, but don’t speak. Awkward silence fills the car, interrupted only by the occasional sound of the night from outside your car window.
You remain like that for the rest of the ride. Everytime you think about saying something, you bury it, not wanting to show interest.
After a while, the road turns to dirt. The car bounces along the new road, and you can’t help but feel even further isolated from your old life. Jaebum pulls down a narrow driveway, and then the car stops, bathing a small cottage in the car’s light. Jaebum turns off the car’s ignition, and as you open the car’s door, you can hear the soft sound of waves crashing. Sand crunches beneath your shoes as you take in the sights around you.
You hear the sound of the trunk close, and seconds later Jaebum rounds the car, duffel bags gripped in his hands.
“This is it,” Jaebum says.
“I guess so,” you agree, exhaling nervously. You follow Jaebum up the cottage’s steps, hovering uncertaintly as he unlocks the front door. Following him inside, you squint against the bright yellow lights of the cottage.
You’re standing in a small living room. To your left is the kitchen and what you assume is the dining room, and to the right is a hallway. Jaebum leads you down the hallway, setting one of the duffle bags in front of a plain, unassuming white door.
“This is your room. Mine is right next to you.” Jaebum knocks goofily on the door in front of him, and you let out a short laugh.
“Okay.”
You grab your bag, pushing open the door to the room. You pause in the doorway, unsure. “Good night, Jaebum.”
A moment passes, and then you can hear the smile in his voice when he says, “Good night, Y/N.”
“Tzuyu! Where are you?”
You’re in a meadow, tall stalks of wheat reaching your shoulders. You frown, trying to remember how you got here, but you can’t. Alarm bells ring in your head, and you push through the stalks, searching for your sister.
“Tzuyu! Tzuyu! Where — are — you?”
Your voice is reflected back at you, distorted and garbled. Panic rises in you, bubbling hot like lava, and you begin to push through the stalks around you faster.
Finally, you stumble upon a clearing. A flock of birds takes flight, and your eyes scan the clearing, frantic. A body lies on the ground unmoving, and you run towards it. Deep in your gut you know who it is, but that doesn’t stop the gasp that leaves you as you clearly identify the girl lying there.
It’s Tzuyu.
The sight of her body makes you freeze, and before you can stop it you trip. When you regain your bearings, you’re back in the alley again. You blink, trying to orient yourself, and as you do Tzuyu’s hand shoots out, wrapping itself around your wrist. A scream gets choked in your throat as your sister sits up, smile stretching too wide for her face.
“Why didn’t you save me?”
“Tzuyu, you’re hurting me,” you cry, trying to pry your sister’s grasp from your wrist. She only holds on tighter, other hand shooting out and wrapping itself around your throat.
“Why didn’t you save me? Why didn’t you SAVE ME?”
A scream tears its way out of your throat, and you shoot into a sitting position, clutching the comforter you had admired just hours earlier against you. Your breathing is ragged, and dimly you hear heavy footsteps. Seconds later, harsh light floods your room and you throw your hand against your forehead, shielding your eyes from the intrusion.
Jaebum’s eyes are wild as he takes in your room, the way you’re sitting up, clutching the comforter against you. His muscles relax as he ascertains that you are physically safe, eyes softening at the sight of you.
“Are you okay?”
You nod, embarrassment beginning to seep through your previous horror.
“I’m sorry, had a nightmare.” You force yourself to laugh, the sound an octave too high to be believable. “You can just go back to your room, everything is fine.”
You swallow forcefully, staring down at the comforter and picking at a thread that has unwound itself from the careful stitching. Silently, you yell at Jaebum to leave. You’re not sure how much longer you can stand being mortified, discomfort seeping into the air around you.
After a long pause, you hear the gentle click of your door close. You don’t bother to look up, instead electing to close your eyes, sure that by the count of ten, he’ll be gone.
You’ve just reached eight when you feel your bed dip, and strong arms wrapping themselves around you. You stiffen, eyes snapping open to glare at the offender.
“You don’t have to treat me like a baby, I told you that I’m fine.”
“It’s okay to be weak you know.”
To your immense horror, you feel your eyes begin to well. You blink rapidly, trying to untangle yourself from Jaebum’s presence, but he holds on tightly. Before you can stop it, all of the emotions of the past twenty-four hours hit you, crashing against the gate that you had shoved them behind. The emotions you felt at your sister’s death, the emotional burden of having to suddenly end your old life and going into hiding suddenly become too much, and before you can help it tears stream down your cheeks. You gasp as you struggle to breathe, everything suddenly just becoming too much.
Time goes by without either of you realizing it, and neither of you know how long you remain in that position, Jaebum patting your back lightly as your grief pours out of you. After a few sniffles and swipes across your eyes you let out a groan, pulling away and digging the heels of your palms into your eyes.
“God, I can’t believe I just did that.”
“It’s okay, everyone has to let go of emotions at some point.” Jaebum gives you a gentle smile. “You should try to get some rest.”
“Will you stay with me?” Jaebum’s eyes widen, and you quickly scramble to backtrack. “I mean, you don’t have to — I don’t know what I was thinking — ”
“Of course I will.” Jaebum cuts off your ramble, smiling brightly. “I’ll just bring in a blanket from my room and sleep on the floor — ”
“You can share with me if you want. I don't mind; we both need a good night sleep, right?” You blurt quickly, panting slightly as you finish your question. Jaebum simply laughs, running a hand through his hair. He climbs onto the bed and lays on his side, patting the bed next to him. Shyly, you crawl next to him, laying down and trying not to think about the position you’re in too deeply.
Wrapped in the comfort of Jaebum’s warmth, you close your eyes, focusing on the gentle sounds of your breathing. A sense of tranquility washes over you, and you finally fall asleep.
summary: Jaebeom had been alive a long time. He never really got the hang of humans. They confused him, always so warm and frantic and fragrant. He could barely remember being one. He mostly stuck with his handful of immortal friends, clinging to their relationships for some semblance of normalcy. Then there was you. And you… were different.
warnings: vampire au, soulmate au

note: there's a large chunk of this where the reader character is forced into an unsafe scenario with a creepy man. if situations like that are not your jam, you might want to avoid this part. if you want specifics or a recap of this chapter avoiding that part, lmk!

_________________________
You wake early the next morning. You don't have work until tomorrow, yet your body still wakes you.
Jaebeom isn't next to you, though you can hear faint rustling in the other room, so you know he's not far.
You open one eye, just enough that you can grab your phone from the nightstand. You glare at your screen with blurry eyes for a few moments, swiping away random Twitter notifications and a few emails.
Your mom had texted you at some point, as had Annie. You answer them both and then see another notification you had missed.
It was an unknown number.
You tap the conversation to open it and sit up, rubbing at your eyes.
11:43PM: Hey, sorry to text you so late. It's Minsoo from work. I'm working on the graphics for my presentation on Monday and was wondering if you still had the ones you used in yours.
What a weird thing to request, you think. He had worked there for months before you had started, and the assets you had used in your presentation were from a communal folder in the work system.
7:17AM: Sorry, I missed this last night. They're in the communal assets folder in the system. I grabbed them from there.
You swing your legs out of bed and head down the hall, phone still clutched in one hand. Jaebeom is sitting in his studio, headphones on.
He stills when you pass the threshold and glances at you out of the corner of his eye. You knew your hair was a mess, that you probably looked ridiculous in nothing but one of his shirts, but he smiles warmly at you.
You fit yourself onto his lap, head tucked under his chin, and unlock your phone again.
Minsoo had replied.
7:19AM: Oh, right! Could you should me what section you grabbed it from tomorrow? I can't seem to find it.
You sigh, rolling your eyes.
7:20AM: Sure.
You slide your phone onto Jaebeom's desk. He leans forwards slightly to read the conversation. His brow furrows.
He slides one side of his headphones off, "Is that the weird guy at work you mentioned?"
You nod, "Yeah, he's been there longer than me but apparently can't even find a communal folder."
"That's annoying."
His voice is tight.
You lean back to look at his face, "What?"
"Nothing," He shakes his head, "Just makes it seem like he's interested in you or something."
You roll your eyes, "No, he probably just wants attention. Not many people in the office talk to him. He's super awkward."
Jaebeom hums a soft response, then pulls you back into his chest. You can't hear what he's working on through his headphones, but he hums gently to some sort of melody and it reverberates through his chest into your ear. It's a nice sound.
You spend most of the day with him, and then head home in the late afternoon. You shower and have dinner alone, singing softly in the kitchen. You'd rather stay at his place, but it's easier to go to work in the morning when you're in your own place, with all of your things within arm's reach.
_________________________
The next morning you leave your apartment around 7. You walk about ten minutes to the nearest subway station and head underground to catch the 7:12AM train.
You're squished in amongst a hoarde of other commuters, your coat and hat providing a thick barrier against other people bouncing against you. It's still cold today, with a light layer of snow covering everything above ground.
Your office is on the 13th floor of a commerical building. You scan in at the main doors with your ID badge, your photo smiling up at you as the scanner glows green and lets you inside.
You're pressed between even more people in the elevator, but most of them get off on different floors. It's just you and two other women who get off on the 13th floor.
Another ID scan, at a smaller door this time, and you're inside the office.
The receptionist, an older woman with greying hair, smiles brightly at you and returns your wave.
Everything seems normal.
You drink your coffee at your desk and fill out reports and do idle research for future projects.
Things change at lunch.
You're sitting in the lunch room alone. You had sent Jaebeom a funny meme you had seen on Twitter and then popped your headphones in to watch a YouTube video. Your phone is propped up against your water bottle and you've got ramen in a container in front of you.
Minsoo walks in.
You glance up, the movement catching your eye, and offer a mild, polite smile before looking back to your video.
He stops in his tracks in the doorway, body going stock still. You try to ignore it, but he seems shocked or scared, even. You glance behind you, just in case there's something wild happening through the window on the far wall, but there's nothing.
You pull one headphone out and look at him, "What's wrong?"
His eyes are dark, his jaw tense. It reminds you of something. You can't put your finger on it.
"Did you hurt yourself?"
"What?"
He gestures to his own neck, right at the curve. The place were Jaebeom bit you throbs.
You reach up, finding that the collar of your blouse had slipped out of place. You readjust it.
"Oh," You shake your head and laugh, "I burnt myself with a curling iron. It looks ridiculous, right?"
Minsoo looks unconvinced. He doesn't say anything else, though, just sits across from you and focuses on his own lunch.
You finish eating quickly and hurry back to your desk. Something about the way he had looked at you, had studied you almost, made your skin crawl. You'll have to tell Jaebeom about it. It wasn't the reaction a normal human would have, you think.
You manage to put it out of your mind for the rest of the day, pouring yourself into your work. You end up staying late, hoping that by the time you leave Minsoo will already be gone and you won't have to make awkward small talk in the elevator.
It's almost 7 o'clock when you finally power off your computer. The office is dark, the only light coming from the flickering flourescents in the foyer. The receptionist's desk is empty.
You put your coat and hat on and sling your purse across your body. You cross half the office with your head down, fiddling with your keys as you try to remember which one will lock the office's door.
"Oh, you're still here."
You nearly jump out of your skin at the voice, glancing up towards the front door. Minsoo had walked out of a conference room between where you stood and the main door.
"Ah, yeah," You say, nodding awkwardly, "I had some extra work to do."
"Do you mind showing me those graphics you used now?"
Your heart picks up in your chest, so fast you're choking on it, "Ah, maybe tomorrow. I'm really tired."
"Come on, it'll only take a minute."
You hesitate, glancing between him and the door. If you just did what he asked then surely he'd leave you alone. At the very least if you walked back to his desk it would put distance between him and your exit.
"Sure."
His desk is further from the door than your own, so you follow him past your own computer to his. It was still on, showing the desktop. He sits down and you stand awkwardly behind him.
"So it's just there," You point at a specific icon, "And then you have to go to our department's folder." He follows your instructions, "And then they're all in the assets folder."
You step quickly away from his desk, turning on your heel, "But yeah that's it! Bye!"
On instinct you dig your hand deep into your purse, wrapping your hand around one of the metal chopsticks you had used at lunch.
Behind you, his chair scrapes against the tiles. You've barely registered the sound before he's standing in front of you, both hands casually in his pockets.
Why the fuck was he so fast?
"So who is it?" He asks, suddenly far closer. You take few steps backwards.
"What?"
"The vampire that claimed you," He reaches out lightning quick and yanks the collar of your blouse to one side, "Whoever it is did a sloppy job."
You know it's a stupid decision before you make it. It's the only thing you can think to do, however. You swing your arm up, metal chopstick in hand, and stab him roughly in the palm. It doesn't do any damage, of course, but he's caught off guard enough that his hand comes free of your blouse.
You know you won't be able to get past him, so you turn on your heel and dash into the women's restroom. You lock the door behind you and brace yourself against the door - your back on the wood and your feet planted firmly on the wall across from you.
You fumble your phone out of your pocket and frantically dial Jaebeom's number. You had no qualms with kicking a human dude in the dick but you have doubts that would do anything to a vampire.
"Come on," Minsoo's voice is right outside the door, "I'm not a monster, I don't want to force you to do anything, but I've had my eye on you since you started here."
His awkward persona is completely gone. Your heart is in your throat.
Jaebeom answers the phone on the third ring, "Hey, what's up?"
"I need you to come get me right now," You say, breathless as the door rattles behind you, "I'm at work. Please come get me right now."
"I'll be right there."
You hang up and put your phone back, desperately pressing your feet against the wall.
"I could break this door and your legs with it in a heartbeat," He sounds like he's mocking you, "How about you let me in and I show you what you should have."
"Fuck you!"
"What's so good about this random vampire you found?" He says, "We're a dime a dozen in this fucking city, they can't be anything special."
When you don't reply he sighs heavily. The door handle creaks and then snaps off under the force of his hand. You gasp, trying to shuffle away from the new hole in the door.
"Tell me about them," He goads you, laughter in his voice, "Maybe I'll back off."
"He's got a coven!" You say frantically, "And he's my soulmate! Leave me alone!"
"A coven leader?" Minsoo's voice wavers slightly, "Well, that's nothing special. I can't believe you actually think a coven leader of all people is going to be faithful. Soulmate or not those vampires fuck like rabbits."
You ignore him.
Suddenly, the door bows in.
You scramble away from it, for fear of getting squished, and put your back against the far wall next to the stalls.
The door cracks and splinters until the top of it cracks practically in half. You keep your eyes trained on the doorway, shaking so badly you're sure that your legs will give out at any second.
Suddenly there's a loud crashing sound out in the foyer. It sounds like glass breaking.
"Oh, here comes the cavalry I suppose."
You dash into one of the stalls and lock it behind you. You stand on the toilet lid, hands scrambling at the too-smooth walls to keep your balance.
You can hear voices in the office, panicked shouts and the sounds of breaking wood and crashing furniture.
Then, it all goes quiet.
You clamp one hand over your mouth, trying to stay as quiet as possible. A few quick footsteps echo over the tiles. Then a familiar voice says your name.
It's Jinyoung.
You slide off the toilet lid and scramble to unlock the door. You're crying before you even get it open, your hands shaking.
Jinyoung's roughed up, his usually perfect hair is disshelved and there's a smear of dirt on his jaw.
"You're okay," He offers you a hand, "Come on."
You place your palm in his and he leads you out of the bathroom. The door is practically destroyed, the wood at about waist height bent completely inwards. The mechanism at the top is broken, keeping it from opening.
Jinyoung secures an arm around your waist and easily lifts you over the broken bottom half of the door and then steps over it behind you.
Jaebeom stands over Minsoo, lying unconcious on the floor. He has one foot pressed hard to his chest. A few desks and cubciles are totally trashed, and the low hum of a broken computer fills the air.
His head snaps up when you enter the room. He rushes over to you. Jinyoung, nearly simultaneously, takes his spot across the room.
You finally start to weep when Jaebeom hugs you. You press your face to his chest and clutch at the fabric of his jacket, trembling. You feel so useless, having been able to do absolutely nothing to protect yourself. But truly what could you have done?
These men were vampires, inhuman creatures. You were lucky you had been smart enough to stay alive.
"Get her out of here," Jinyoung says and you peer past Jaebeom to look at him.
He's dialling a number on his phone, almost nonchalantly.
"Are you sure?" Jaebeom asks, one arm secure around your shoulders.
Jinyoung gives him a skeptical look, "Have I ever not handled something?"
Jaebeom nods, "Right. Let me know when you've left."
"I will."
Jaebeom leads you back towards the door, which you see was flung open hard enough to shatter the glass in the frame. As you pass Jinyoung he reaches over and gently adjusts your hat. You had forgotten you were wearing it. He slides it back down to cover your forehead.
Jaebeom's car is in the parking lot outside and he bundles you into it, fastening your seatbelt for you without saying a word. In fact, he's silent the entire drive back to your apartment.
Once you're inside, with the door securely locked, he lifts you from the ground. He carries you, clutched to his chest, down the hall and into the bathroom. He runs a hot bath, peels you out of your clothes and helps you into the water all without a word.
He only speaks when you're nearly totally submerged in the water, sunken down so your shoulders are covered.
He sits on the bath mat outside the tub, resting his head on the edge, "What happened?"
You tell him the story, and what Minsoo had said. He looks angrier with every word.
"Vampires are possessive," He says when you're done, "If he had a crush on you, finding out that you were claimed by a different vampire would be enraging. Most of us can fucking control ourselves, though. Asshole."
You find yourself running your fingers over the mark on your neck, pressing on it just slightly to remind yourself it's there.
Jaebeom's eyes snap up, as if he can feel it when you do that. He reaches out, gently knocking your hand out of the way, and settles his palm around the base of your throat, covering the mark.
You sigh, eyes falling shut. You almost feel drunk, or high, like he had just breathed perfection into your veins. Your nerves calm.
"Don't think about any of the bullshit he told you," Jaebeom murmurs, "None of it was true, just grandstanding from a rejected idiot."
You open one eye to look at him, "What, did you think I was going to get all moody with you about it?"
He laughs, "No, just reassuring you."
Once you're sufficiently calmed down and less shaky, the two of you get into bed. You wear his sweater and a pair of your own loose sweatpants, interested in nothing other than burrowing into his chest.
You've never felt safer than within the confines of his arms.

Jaebeom’s bedroom is dark. The only light is a weak lamp on his dresser across the room. It tinges the room with soft hues of orange and yellow.
You lay back on a few pillows, your eyes firmly closed. He had told you to keep still, to keep your eyes shut, and you were going to listen. Not because you were afraid of him, of course, but because you wanted to make everything as easy for him as possible.
Also, you weren’t stupid. You knew that one wrong move could kill you. Even if it was an accident.
You keep your eyes closed even as Jaebeom climbs onto the bed with you. He hovers over you, one thigh splitting your knees apart and the other on the outside of your legs. His hands press into the pillows on either side of your head.
You crack open one eye. Just to peek at him.
He grins at you, leaning down to kiss you gently, “Close your eyes.”
You do.
He had explained it beforehand, that if he caught your gaze in the heat of the moment, or with the taste of your blood on his tongue, it could drive him further than he wanted to go. He didn’t want to take any risks.
He kisses his way across your face first, then down your jaw and over your throat. It’s feather light, the way he touches you. He continues down, carefully pulling off your clothes and discarding them over the side of the bed.
You want to touch him back, but you know you can’t. Not yet, at least.
You’re thoroughly worked up by the time he’s finished undressing you. Luckily, you don’t have to tell him that.
“I’m going to take care of you first,” He says, pressing a kiss to your hip, “I have no idea how your blood will affect me, so...” He trails off.
He drapes one of your legs over his shoulder, your thigh resting comfortably there. He pushes the other out and away, his hand hooked under your knee. You want to look down at him but you fight the urge, clenching your eyes shut.
You sigh when his mouth touches you, a gentle touch as he drags his tongue up your slit. He makes a low noise in the back of his throat as he does it and his grip on you tightens. You don’t even need to tell him how to move, or what you like. He seems to know you’re enjoying something before you even register it.
His senses are so in tune with you that he’s got you panting far faster than anyone else ever has. You fight the urge to put your hands in hair, or to buck up against his mouth, but you force yourself to remain still. Every now and then you can feel the press of his teeth through his lip and a few of them are sharper than normal.
He brings you to the edge several times over, until you’re whining and panting, desperately trying not to do anything that he told you not to.
When he finally lets you crash over the edge he puts both of your legs on his shoulders, wrapping his arms around your pelvis. He holds you in place with an iron grip, his tongue moving perfectly against your skin. You feel as if you pass out when you come, just for a moment as your body tenses and spasms.
When you come back to you’re panting and shivering, fighting a burst of random laughter. You open your eyes to look at him. He’s sitting up on his knees now, dragging the back of his hand over his mouth. His pupils are blown wide and as he licks his lips you can see that his canines press deeply into his lower lip. If they weren’t attached to him you’d worry they’d break the skin.
“Stop looking at me,” He says after a moment, eyes catching yours, “I can barely control myself as is.”
You snap your eyes closed, laughing nervously.
“Do you want to stop?” He asks, “We don’t have to do anything else.”
You don’t say anything for a moment, just gently turn your head to the left, exposing the long planes of your neck, “Go ahead.”
He presses down on you, a heavy presence that has your heart racing. You aren’t scared exactly - well, you are, but it’s not the typical kind of fear. You’re worried it will hurt, but you’re also worried that he will feel bad if you wince, or gasp.
He presses heavy, open mouth kisses across your skin, breathing heavily against your throat. After a moment he settles against where your throat meets your shoulder, the gentle curve there.
“It won’t hurt,” He assures you, “I promise.”
He’s right. You can feel the pressure of when his teeth break the skin, like when your arm falls asleep and you press on it, but it doesn’t hurt. Then, out of nowhere, you find yourself moaning.
You had no idea it would feel like this. It had no right to feel like this, you thought. You feel hot all over and you throb between your legs, as if you had not just had a mindblowing orgasm. Something about it feels so right as well, like something is settling your frayed nerves and soothing you.
After a moment, though, you start to get a bit light-headed. As soon as the feeling hits Jaebeom is pulling away. He gently releases his iron-tight grip on you and leans back, panting heavily.
You look at him. He has a line of your blood running down his chin. He catches it with his tongue. He looks fucked out, as if you two had just spent four hours rolling around in bed instead of five minutes with his teeth in your throat.
“Are you okay?” He asks, breathing heavily.
“Yeah,” You tell him, nodding. The movement makes your neck twinge and you flinch, reaching up to the wound.
It’s still wet with blood. Jaebeom leans forwards, licking his thumb and then tracing it across where he had bitten. It stops the flow of blood easily and you sigh, leaning heavily back against the pillows.
“Did you want -”
He cuts you off, “No. You should eat something.”
“Oh, good idea.”
_________________________
He orders you food and you lean against him on the couch as you eat it. You’re swaddled in one of the blankets from his bed, still completely naked. He stares at the mark on your neck the whole time, almost like he has tunnel vision. A claiming bite, like that one, would leave a ridge of scar tissue that was nearly unnoticeable to most humans. To other supernatural creatures, though, it was a clear sign that you were unavailable and, most importantly, protected.
Once you’re done eating Jaebeom carries you back to bed. You sit between his legs, leaning back against his chest, as a movie plays on the TV across from the end of his bed. It’s some trashy movie that you picked out, but he’s happy to see how it makes you laugh.
Once the movie finishes the room goes black, the title screen eventually timing out until the TV dims. He can tell you’re half asleep already, but after a few moments of silence you squirm against him.
“What?” He rubs his palms over your shoulders, sliding his hands beneath the loose fabric of his shirt that you had put on.
You don’t say anything, just sit up on your knees and shuffle around to face him. You’re perched perfectly between his legs, with one hand on his chest for balance. Even in the low light his eyes find the red, raised mark on your neck with ease. It’s already healing.
You lean in close to his face, peering up into his eyes. He holds his breath. He doesn’t want to force anything on you that you don’t want. After a moment, you grin and press a gentle kiss to his mouth.
“I trust your control.” You speak close to his lips. He can feel the breath of your words against his skin.
“Maybe I don’t.”
You don’t pull away.
He cups the back of your head in his hand and pulls you in. He kisses you deeper, more fervently, than he had thought he was allowed to. You whimper against his mouth and suddenly everything is moving at lightspeed.
_________________________
You don’t know what you were thinking. Okay, that’s a lie. What you were thinking was that you wanted dick. Now. You should say that you don’t know where the hell your logic went. Out the window of his apartment to crash into pieces on the sidewalk below, apparently.
He moves so smoothly, so elegantly. Once you’ve got his clothes off and on the ground he lifts you easily into his lap. You balance precariously on your knees on either side of his hips, both your hands on his bare chest.
“Are you okay?” You ask, your eyes on his in the darkness.
He huffs a laugh, softly, “Yes.”
You’re still a bit wet from earlier and simply kissing him was enough to make you even wetter. You manage to get your hand between you, finding him hard and leaking. It’s too dark to really see what you’re doing, but you manage to arrange the thick head of his cock against you.
You both catch your breath as you sink down. Your legs start to shake right away and you mentally chastise yourself for not doing more leg exercises. Jaebeom’s hands fly to your hips, fingers clutching the plush curve of your skin. He does not let up until you bottom out.
Somehow this felt different. You understood that it had to have something to do with the soulmate bond, based on the way the bite marks on your neck burned suddenly, but it was unexpected. You had ridden your fair share of dicks but none of them felt like this.
You don’t have the strength to properly lift up and down so you start a slow grind against his pelvis, clenching down around him. You rest your forehead against his chest, panting against his skin.
The friction is the best thing you’ve ever felt. Your skin is hot and dewy with sweat and the stretch between your legs is incredible.
Jaebeom doesn’t speak, but he keeps his hands on your skin and breathes. They’re heavy, laboured breaths and soft groans that you’d miss if you weren’t listening for them. The sound of him struggling to keep it together is enough to make you whimper, increasing the pace of your hips.
Jaebeom tips his head back suddenly and swears at the ceiling. You want to kiss his throat but he stops you, one hand flying up to clasp around the back of your neck. His grip there would be enough to make you come, but then he presses his thumb against the marks on your neck and you see stars.
It was harder and faster than your earlier orgasm and you go practicaly catatonic in his lap, slumping forwards as you twitch and cry out. You feel Jaebeom twitch inside you and you groan at the thought of him filling you up.
Luckily, he had explained to you earlier that vampires basically “fire blanks” so you didn’t even have anything to worry about in that regard.
After a moment of catching your breath he carefully helps you off of him and you hurry to his bathroom to clean yourself up. Your legs shake as you walk, but you do your best to play it off.
_________________________
Jaebeom had legitimately not expected that to be how your night together went. He had been more than content to taste the perfect flow of your blood against his tongue and make you come with his mouth. He was also surprised at how well he had controlled himself. Perhaps the trick was to simply feed from you beforehand, so that he did not have the urge while he was balls deep inside you.
After a few minutes you reappear from the bathroom and climb back into bed with him. He drapes himself over you and presses his face against the back of your throat. You smell perfectly like him now, as if your scents had flawlessly merged.
On the nightstand, your phone buzzes. Both of you ignore it.

_________________________
You realize early one morning a few weeks later that you have not kissed Jaebeom nearly as much as you want to. It could be because of the whole vampire thing, you think as you brush your teeth.
Somehow, thinking of him barely being able to restrain himself around you is... hot. Really hot.
You clear your throat, moving on to delicately applying makeup and messing with your hair until it stops falling into your eyes. You have plans to meet up with Jaebeom and the rest of the guys in a few hours. Apparently they do more than just sit in the bar and make fun of each other, since you’ve been invited to BamBam’s house for lunch. It’s apparently just as extravagant and extra as he is, a penthouse with an amazing view and an indoor pool. Thinking of BamBam, it doesn’t surprise you.
You know you definitely should not be horny in an apartment full of vampires, with insanely superior senses, so you calm yourself down by doing math in your head as you get dressed.
It’s practically an olympic sport. There had been times when you caught Jaebeom looking at you with this half-lidded look in his eyes, and if you looked close enough you could see the subtle press of his canines against his lower lip. It made you throb.
It probably made you irreparably stupid, or desperate, to be that turned on by someone that could kill you without breaking a sweat. Oh well. You blamed it on the whole soulmate thing.
It’s stupidly cold outside, now deep into winter, so you have no time for looking cute. It’s jeans and a t-shirt, hidden under one of Jaebeom’s large hoodies.
You see a text from Jaebeom that he’s outside, ready to pick you up, so you put on your coat, stuff your shoes on, and hurry downstairs.
His luxurious black car is idling at the curb and you rush forwards towards it, worried about him getting a parking ticket. Then, your boot hits a patch of black ice, not properly removed on the sidewalk, and you go careening backwards.
You land square on your ass, flopping backwards as your neck ricochets back. Your purse goes scattering across the pavement and you’re ready for your skull to crack against the pavement. Luckily, it hits something warm and solid instead.
You open your eyes to see Jaebeom leaning over you, his hand cradling the back of your head. Apparently not even vampires are fast enough to get out of a car and all the way across the sidewalk in time to catch you when you fell.
You laugh, breathless and cold, “Thanks.”
“Sorry, I wasn’t paying enough attention,” He says, looking incredibly frantic as he helps you to your feet. His hands leave you for barely a second as he steps away to grab your purse, holding it in one hand as the other arm wraps around your waist.
“It’s okay,” You shake your head at him, “It’s not your fault.”
He looks skeptical at that, but doesn’t say anything, just leads you carefully to the car. He waits until you buckle your seatbelt to place your bag in your lap, then he gets in on the driver’s side and pulls away.
He’s glancing at you every few seconds, eyebrows knitted together. You reach over, gently touching his right hand where it rests on the gear shift. His shoulders drop from where they’re bunched up around his ears.
“I’m fine,” You laugh, “I’ve fallen on ice more times than I can count.”
“But I was right there,” He says, “I’m supposed to catch you.”
You roll your eyes, absently drawing a pattern on the back of his hand with your fingers, “You’re dramatic.”
That makes him laugh. He turns his hand over, capturing your fingers with his own for a moment, pulling your hand up to kiss it. It’s gentle, sweet, but it makes your heart skip a beat.
Everything is slow motion for a minute as you watch his lips touch your skin, your brain thinking of other ways his mouth could touch you. You know he hears your heart, maybe senses the way your body heats up.
He releases your hand to make a smooth right turn, and when the car’s moving straight again he drops his right hand onto your left thigh. His hand isn’t particularly warm, none of him is, but the sheer pressure of his palm on your thigh is entrancing.
You spread your legs slightly without thinking, the tips of his fingers touching the seam that runs up the inside of your thigh. He tightens his grip.
“I will never live it down if we’re late,” He says, and the low tone of his voice is enough to give you goosebumps.
You glance over at him. He’s staring steadfastly at the road, but his jaw looks impossibly tight.
“What do you mean?”
He smirks, glancing over at you with his eyes dark, “You know what I mean.”
You’re very wet. You shift in the seat and he looks away. You watch his throat bob as he swallows.
“They will know why we’re late,” He says, glancing at you again, “Later.”
Later? Your heart picks up. Maybe finally you’d end up in his bed not clothed.
“It’s a good thing that sweater smells too much like me to let them smell anything else.”
“What?” You ask, a little embarassed. You feel a hot flush climb up the back of your neck.
“I’m more in tune with you than they are,” He says, “All they’ll smell on you is me. I’m the only one who gets to know the rest.”
You sigh heavily, trying to calm yourself down.
Jaebeom suddenly pulls the car through a set of tall, black gates. They block off a fancy parking lot that’s spread out in front of a glitzy, shining condo building. He stops at a guard that’s waiting there, letting him know who he’s visiting and what unit.
“Penthouse,” Jaebeom says, and the guard checks the information on a small tablet.
He nods, walking to the front of Jaebeom’s car and typing in his license plate. He steps to the side and waves them through after that. Jaebeom pulls up to a line of spots parked at visitor parking and pulls in next to a big black SUV.
He cuts the engine, shifting in his seat to look at you, “Stay at my place tonight?”
You nod frantically, smiling, “Yes please.”
He reaches out, cupping your chin in his hand, “What good manners.”
There’s something about the way he says it, with his eyes dark and hooded, staring at you with his mouth partially open. You swallow thickly, heart pumping.
He leans forwards, pressing a soft kiss to your mouth. You sigh, leaning into him. After a moment, he pulls back, “Come on.”
The parking lot at the complex is impeccable, not a shred of ice in sight, but Jaebeom offers you his arm anyways. You loop yours through his, resting your hand in the crook of his elbow. You press closer despite the lack of heat his body had, shivering.
A doorman opens the door for you and there’s even an attendant in the elevator. He presses the PH button for them and the elevator soars upwards, far faster than the creaky one in your building.
The doors slide open, revealing a small foyer before a pair of tall, frosted glass doors. BamBam must have heard the elevator start in the lobby, since he pulls one door open as soon as they step into the foyer.
“Hey!” He greets, beaming at them, “Come on in.”
You can hear music coming from further in the apartment, and loud laughter booming out over each note. It sounds like Youngjae, but you can’t be sure.
You leave your coats and shoes at the door, and as BamBam leads you to the den you busy yourself with rolling up the sleeves of Jaebeom’s sweater so you can use your hands.
His place is huge, with tall ceilings and windows letting in huge streams of afternoon light. Everything is white and grey, with accents of warm colours all over the place. The den is a step down from the hallway, sunken, with a huge U shaped couch and a theatre sized TV mounted on the wall. The rest of the boys are scattered across the room.
Youngjae hangs with his head falling off the couch, playing with a small white dog that bounces around near his hands.
Mark and Jinyoung sit side by side on the other side, both of them looking at something on Mark’s phone. Jackson is watching the movie that plays on the TV, with Yugyeom leaning on his shoulder.
They all perk up when you enter the room, though, Youngjae flipping upright alarmingly fast.
“Hi,” You say, lifting a hand in greeting.
You go to walk around the back of the couch, following the urging of Jaebeom’s gentle hand on your back, but as you walk past Jinyoung and Mark a hand reaches up and grabs you.
You’re pulled over the top of the couch with a yelp, landing with a bounce on the cushions beside Jinyoung. You quickly right yourself as Jinyoung laughs at you, mercilessly ruffling your hair with his hand. He somehow looks perfect, not a single thing out of place on him.
You swat his hand away, trying to smooth your hair back into place, “Fuck you.”
Jaebeom laughs, rounding the edge of the couch and dropping down on your other side. He reachs around you to press two fingers on Jinyoung’s temple and pushes lightly.
“You know what’s ridiculous?” BamBam asks, folding himself neatly onto the floor by the TV, “If I had done that he’d have thrown me out the window.”
“You’re not Jinyoung,” Mark says without looking up from his phone.
Jackson laughs, and the conversation is turned to different things.

The two of you end up staying far later than expected. Jaebeom watches you easily laugh and talk with the others, and something settles in him. You were missing and now you’re here. Despite you being very human something very vampiric is satisfied in him, like a necessary part of the coven had finally arrived.
Just as it’s getting dark out BamBam appears from the kitchen with a bottle of wine. He keeps booze around in case he fools around with a human, Jaebeom knows.
“Do you want a drink?” BamBam asks you and you perk up, peering over the edge of the couch.
“If you’re going to be giving me alcohol I need to eat first,” You laugh, “I haven’t eaten since this morning, I’ll be wasted immediately.”
Jaebeom leans forwards from his spot beside you, “Are you hungry?”
You turn back towards him, “I mean a bit, yeah.” You shrug, “It’s okay. I can order something.”
Watching the way you move is comical to Jaebeom sometimes, fiddling around to get into your back pocket, fingers only reaching halfway before he’s got his phone hovering in front of your face with a delivery app open already.
“I can pay for it,” You say, rolling your eyes, “It’s for me, it’s not like you’re having any.”
He raises an eyebrow at you, not moving. After a moment, you sigh and take it from him. BamBam had retreated to the kitchen to find a glass and suddenly returns with a whole tray of drinks. One is clearly yours, shimmery white wine, translucent, while the others are viscous and dark. Blood.
Jaebeom glances at you as you place his phone on his leg, eyes darting to the smooth expanse of your throat. He’s finally decided he can’t hold back anymore. If you’re willing, he wants to lay you down bare and soft underneath him in the safety of his apartment.
You happily take the glass of wine off the tray, seeming unphased by the literal glasses of blood surrounding it. You’re happy enough with your incoming food delivery. Jaebeom checks the app, sees you’ve ordered a bowl of ramen and some dumplings. It gets picked up by a guy in a red car, and he watches the little animated GPS tracker slide along the streets.
You’re talking softly to Jinyoung when he tunes back in. Something about your job, and Jinyoung laughs.
“Don’t tell Jaebeom about that.”
Jaebeom straightens up, leaning right into your space. He wraps an arm quickly around your waist and moves you backwards, shifting so you’re leaning securely against his chest. He hooks his chin over your shoulder to look at Jinyoung.
“Tell me what?”
Jinyoung rolls his eyes, “You’re overprotective. Breathe.”
You laugh, reaching up to pat Jaebeom’s cheek, “Just that one weird dude at work.” He’s reminded of you mentioning him at one point, the one outlier amongst your otherwise great coworkers, “He keeps standing outside my cubicle for no reason, watching me work. It’s weird.”
Jaebeom clenches his jaw, about to speak, but then his phone starts to buzz. Your food is here.
“I’ll go get it,” You say, springing up and grabbing his phone.
“It’s fine,” He goes to get up, but you give him a strong look and he sits back down.
“I’ll be right back.” You disappear towards the front door.
“Now,” Mark says, suddenly piping up from Jinyoung’s other side, “What you’re not going to do is go to her work and try to intimidate this dude.”
Jaebeom sighs, falling heavily against the back of the couch, “He makes her uncomfortable!”
“Yes, and she can tell him to fuck off,” Mark looks at him, one eyebrow raised, “You do not need to go and make her whole office think you’re a crazy weirdo with anger issues. That would embarass her. If she wants your help, she’ll ask.”
“He’s right,” Jinyoung says, gently shoving him with his foot, “She can handle herself against a random weird coworker.”

You learn that BamBam has more than one bottle of wine once you finish the first. You’re well and truly tipsy, leaning heavily against Jaebeom’s side as a movie plays on the giant screen. He has you tucked under one arm, holding you securely against his side.
You stop drinking after your next glass, wanting to be sober enough for whatever Jaebeom meant by “later.”
It’s early evening now, and everything outside of the windows is the pitch-darkness that comes with winter. You can see the speckles of light that spread across the city like a blanket, lighting up every block.
You leave not long after that, saying goodbye to everyone as you bundle up in preparation for heading outside. It’s even colder outside now than it had been earlier and you press close to Jaebeom as you cross the parking lot.
He cranks the heat once you get in the car and you try to sink into the collar of your coat, tugging up the hood of Jaebeom’s sweater as you pull out of the parking lot.
“Did you still want to stay at my place tonight?” He asks and you nod, giving him a small smile.
If it weren’t for the snow on the road you felt like he may have hit the gas a little harder, but instead he tightens his grip on the steering wheel and carefully navigates the light traffic across town.
You pull into the underground parking for his building, the lights dim and the sudden silence nearly deafening. You know he can hear the frantic pounding of your heart.
He pulls into his spot and cuts the engine. The car goes dark and you glance up, waiting for the overhead light to turn on. It doesn’t.
Jaebeom moves quickly, grabbing your chin between his thumb and forefinger. He moves your head until you’re facing him, staring down at you in the darkness as your eyes adjust.
“I don’t want to hurt you accidentally,” He says softly and you can feel his breath fan out over your face, “So you have to be good and listen to everything I say, okay?”
Chronicles of a Cat (I prefer the term feline) - Chapter 2
Im Jaebum x fem!Reader
Summary: You are a witch, cursed by your brother, BamBam. The curse is for you to be an up-and-coming sorcerer, Jaebeom’s familiar. You can’t let Jaebeom know, but you’re only cursed for a year. It would sound easy, but he has scary instincts.
Chapter warnings: Mild cursing
Genre: Fluff
Chapter word count: 1272 words
Chapter 2: nice place, too bad i’m poor
The answer is yes. You are going to have to kill BamBam. And you're going to burn his body so he can't even be buried. You'll get his inheritance too. You're unbelievably mad at Bam.
The dumbass you no longer claim as your brother did actually curse you. You don't know why it took so long to take hold, but now, you're currently the feline familiar of Im Jaebum, an up-and-coming sorcerer who just moved into your town.
"Oh, hey, pretty kitty," Jaebum smiles down at you. You squawk in indignation, but it only comes out as a meow. Jaebum laughs. "You're the one that chose to be my familiar, cutie. Why are you so offended? Is it because I called you a pretty kitty?"
You roll your eyes. "Yes, you dumb shit." It only comes out as a hiss.
"Aw, I'm sorry." Jaebum crouches down, and you glare at him. "Don't give me that look, please. What's your name?"
Dumbass. Doesn't he know the rules of having a familiar? He names the familiar. Yes, the familiar has it's own name, but it is almost never used by the companion. You roll your eyes. Jaebum notices and sighs. "Pick a name for me!" You growl out, and Jaebum raises his eyebrows.
"Oh, you're that kind of familiar." Well, duh. You're a witch before a familiar. If you give Jaebum your name, that would definitely be a problem.
It's not the same matter as a demon's name, however, witches' names do hold some type of power in them. The main problem is that you can't exactly avoid whatever name Jaebum picks. You don't want to have some dumb name. You sweat you'll kill him yourself if you're named Pewter or something.
"I'll name you Sesame! It's a cute name." Oh, god. Well, he's named you now. You can't separate until a year, as familiars must stay with their companion until a year has passed. Then they chose to either stay or go. You don't even know how long it will last, and you can't ask Bam, but you assume it will last a year. If not, at least you'll get to leave.
Oh, BamBam. You want to smack him. How dare he curse you. You don't know what you're going to do about work. You work for a spellbinding store, where you help customers understand what spells they would want to cast or get rid of, and help them find a way to do that. As BamBam says, it's like insurance but magic.
Your boss, a fairy named Mark, is kind enough, but you're worried as to how he and his part-time employee, Jinyoung, will handle the store.
Jinyoung, as an elf, has always been good at the working of spells. He is definitely more in touch with dark magic, but he does have connection to all types of magic. It's not that you're worried about. It's his prickly personality. You've known him for long enough that he's friendly, but if a customer is making his patience run thin...well, lets just say he's quite known among your town for his "impeccable" customer service.
Wait.
Mark.
He's a fairy. He can speak to any animal and familiar. Well, familiars can be understood, but there are still communication barriers. Anyways, Mark would understand your dilemma. Maybe he'd be able to help you. The only problem is Jaebum.
"Why are you so quiet, cutie?" In the middle of your thoughts, Jaebum had scooped you up and is carrying you to his home. You want to roll your eyes but decide against it. It would be in your best interests to act like a familiar. Just imagine if Jaebeom found out.
Not that you don't trust him. It's just that...well, you don't. You don't know him at all. You don't like to assume, but you also don't want to lose your reputation of being the strongest witch in your family line since your great great grandmother was born. If word got out that your brother, a glamour witch managed to curse you, you would be the laughingstock of the town.
It would just affect you either. BamBam hates the old magic-wielders of this town; the ones who run the town council. Unfortunately, you are part of the council and if they even have an inkling that you got cursed by your brother, they'd kick you off and replace you with your brother. Those misogynist dumbfucks would ruin BamBam.
And Mark. He'd be clowned for hiring you. He can't afford that; he's saving up to buy an apartment instead of just living in his shop. He's wanted that for years, and you're not about to put his dream into jeopardy. You're not worried about Jinyoung, though. He handles everything easily.
So now you need to lie low and look for an opening to find Mark. It seems like you won't be going anytime soon, though. You're in a part of town you don't know well. This is where the elite live. You, while you had the chance to when you joined the council, don't live here. Everything was too grand for you. Instead, you live in an apartment on the other side of town.
Looms like Jaebum is into this lifestyle, though. When he carries you into his apartment you almost screech at how big it is. The apartment itself could fit you, BamBam, and Yugyeom easily. You bet even Jaebum would be able to live with the three of you easily.
"Alright, now, lets go find you a bed. We'll also have to find some food. What do you eat?"
"Everything?"
"That doesn't sound like a sure answer," Jaebum grins. You just kind of want to scratch him, but hold back. You can deal with him later, once you figure out how the curse works. Instead, you opt to ignore him.
Jaebum chuckles, not put off by your cold attitude. "You know, you remind me of a good friend of mine. He's a fairy too, and while he seems like he'd be a nice guy, which he is don't get me wrong, he's so savage sometimes."
You nod, but your eye catches on a really, really, soft looking pillow. What you would give to just sleep on it. Jaebum seems to see what you're thinking about and laughs. "I'm gonna go to sleep since it's about time for my nap, so if you want to explore or sleep, be my guest."
This is your chance! You agree happily, and Jaebum moves the pillow to lie flat. "Knock yourself out," he laughs, and leaves for what you presume to be his room. Once you thinks he's gone, you immediately head off the couch to find an open window.
There's one in the bathroom, and you vaguely think to yourself that Jaebum doesn't really worry about his safety. Oh well, it works out in your favor. You get out of the window, silently thanking the feline body that you were able to squeeze out, and try to get your bearings.
You're on the wrong side of town from Mark's store, so you first try to find the road and make your way to the other end. You don't get far before you're lost, though. It's not your fault everything is so huge now and you can't see any signs.
You wander for a while until you see something that looks familiar. It's the bus stop you take to go to council meetings. Now that you have your bearings, you can find your way around and not get lost this time. Mark's shop is only three blocks away.
