Because he's needy, Junior often clings to Jake when he's overwhelmed. Jake generally lets him, but since Jake is an introvert, there are times he rejects Junior. Not because he doesn't love him, but because he needs to recharge his social battery. Junior's neediness can sometimes be draining for him
I can see that, Jake just needs some more alone time and it’s something that Junior sometimes struggles with
If I had the drive to draw these characters more I would head cannon Jake as having scars on his arm from that time he held Lexy above Chucky (She didn't scratch him on purpose but started clawing by accident trying to get up and make sure she wouldn't fall)
