22 Oct 2021. 「Swee Choon Tim Sum」 We promised ourselves to come back for a proper dinner, and come back we did! I loved the fried 流沙包 and the 莲蓉包 (not pictured), while @twogreensquarefeet enjoyed the mee sua kuey (like a fried yam cake but made of mee sua). The 麻辣拉面 photographed nicely but was a bit much, and a little incongruous with the rest of the meal. Fast, efficient service, reasonable prices (I over-ordered, tipsy as I was from beers at Orh Gao Taproom earlier that afternoon). 15 Oct 2021. 「Hello mee, meet the real mee」 Alternatively: An evening out in Jalan Besar. 1. Pork rib prawn noodles at Berseh Food Centre. Most of the hawker stalls that we were interested in don’t open for dinner; I’d recommend coming by in the day. 2. Obsessive Chocolate Desire (again!❤️) Waffle with a scoop of raspberry chocolate sorbet (more sweet than sour) and a scoop of Belgian 60% chocolate ice cream. We got a pint of the Belgian chocolate ice cream to take home 😋 3. 28 Sep 2021. 「Happy hour at Druggists」 From 3-7pm, Monday to Thursday, you can enjoy burgers like this beef rendang burger for just $12 (fries will cost you extra) to go with $10 pints from selected taps. To be completely honest with you, I was skeptical of the satay burger, but the sweet peanut sauce went well with the patty, and the bum was toasted to perfection. If the queues were anything to go by, Swee Choon Tim Sum at 191 Jalan Besar must serve the best tim sum in Singapore. My nephew Darren took his adopted Dad there. We chose the Xiao Long Bao (of course), Mee Sua Kurh (one of their signature tim sim), Chee Cheong Fan and Portugese Egg Tarts.
