okay full disclosure, latin language/lit and roman history were mandatory subjects at my (not private!) high school and i Loved that class so for history it’s gotta be rome hands down. the republic in particular is endlessly fascinating shit and roman-occupied britain and i go way way back, also cicero (and catullus lmao)….studying rome sort of taught me to love languages (and to ignore class policy wherever possible/necessary in favor of my own language learning style which was a really important lesson to learn early).

for mythology though, i gotta say i like the greek versions of the hellenic gods + greek theatre a lot better than the roman versions, as a rule. mostly i mean dionysos. i really like dionysos
