James had asked him to come round the flat because he had a surprise, which sounded ominous to him at first, not being fond of surprises but he had assured him that it was a good one. In times like these you needed all the good news you could get so he was curious what his friend had to share with him. Lily was home and safe which he already knew meaning it wasn’t the surprise. He was beyond relieved that she was back, both James and Harry needing her, though thankfully Harry was unaware of the situation just that his mother hadn’t been around for a time. James had held it together for the two of them but he could see the strain behind his eyes and knew he had been holding on by a thread for Harry’s sake.

Remus arrived at their door with a tray of chocolates and other confections in hand as he had been unsure what the surprise was he figured he should bring something to be safe. A smile appeared on his lips when his friend opened the door giving him a once over trying to see if he could spot anything straight away that might hint at the surprise. “Alright mate, I’m here, so what’s this big surprise? I brought some chocolate, of course, any kind of surprise worth celebrating needs chocolate,” he chuckled, he was well known for his chocolate habit.

Mia hadn’t thought much of it when she decided to stock up on art supplies two days before Valentine’s Day, blame it on the fact she had definitely overdone it with her latest series of all-nighters. Maybe people really weren’t supposed to have a sleep schedule as messy as she had, but she sure liked to test it. She had already grabbed what she needed, now casually browsing for things she didn’t need but caught her eyes anyway. That was when her gaze fell upon one of the many people who’d come out to buy a gift for their significant other. She smiled to herself when she noticed the person she was watching seemed overwhelmed with the sheer amount of tacky cards once could purchase, so she approached them on a whim. “You look like you could use a second opinion.” She grinned. “Just how romantic is your chosen one? Because I believe half of these cards would scare off most people, especially those in new relationships.”

James had watched the whole interaction with amusement.  A grin spread on his lips as the drink was handed to him.  “Gotta admit, not really my cuppa tea either, but fuck it.  A drink’s a drink.”  He took the glass and raised it in a toast to his bar mate.  “Thanks man, even if this was an accident,” humor laced in his voice as he spoke.

‘Fuck it. A drink’s a drink.’ Dorian couldn’t help but chuckle at the sentiment as he nodded, glancing over and returning the toast with a grin. “No problem. But if it’s truly awful, let me know and I can buy you something more palatable as an apology.”

He inclined his head to get a better look at his new drinking partner, finding him comfortably grounded and ruggedly handsome. Very salt-of-the-earth, something that typically bored Dorian but seemed in short supply around here. “You look like more of a fellow whiskey drinker,” Dorian hazarded, then narrowed his eyes inquisitively, though still with the same smile. “Or beer.”

There was fresh coffee brewing in the pot as well as some water boiling in a kettle at the kitchenette, which Artemis always had ready in case any of her clients wished to have a cup. There were also a few butter cookies neatly arranged on a plate, set on the low table in front of the couch. The young woman surveilled everything with a critical eye, something she fortunately -or unfortunately, depending the situation- had inherited from her very English father. Her hands rested on her hips briefly, pleased by the result of it all. A neat picture of organization and coziness merged into one.

Soon enough there was a knock on her door and she looked down at her wristwatch. Four o’ clock. Her next client was precisely on time. Punctuality was something she deeply appreciated and it made her polite smile be more genuine when she opened the door. “Hello. Mr. Proctor, I presume” she greeted, raising a hand to shake his.

“Potter, wait up!” Marlene exclaimed just as she stepped outside the class room doors. She stood still, waiting for his head to turn and their eyes to meet, only then did she make a move to step closer. “You were out so fast that I didn’t even notice you stepping out, what a talent.” The brunette looked up at her friend, flashing a playful smile as she caught up to his pace, her books still in hand. “It almost made it seem like you weren’t quite the fan of Herbology.”

Remus & @jcmesxpotters​​ Diagon Alley - fruit & vegetable stalls, a few days after the ball

The midday sun shown overhead, leaving Remus squinting at the display of vegetables in front of him. Produce shopping hadn’t been on the initial plan for the day. It was a spur of the moment decision marked by his struggling to remain still at home. There were too many thoughts and too many worries now that the most recent assignments had been given out. News about his lycanthropy wasn’t fully out with the society but there had been no stopping how high his eyebrows went up upon realizing they were serious about wanting to face Fenrir.

“He’s going to kill me,” Remus muttered and picked up a tomato, weighing it in his hand. “Sirius that is.” He added and turned toward James then dropped the vegetable into his basket, relieved to have someone join him for what otherwise would have been a boring day spent running errands. “Not that I would have let anyone else go into something they know little about but I - I’m still not certain I like acknowledging I can count as ammunition.”

She hasn’t even truly noticed he’s beside her until... well, now. Quinn looks up from her phone and yet another email (her last, she’s promised herself, likely lying) to see her friend, somewhat neighbor, and coincidentally mayor of the town beside her. Her lips curve into something like a smile and she holds up her own phone, guilty as charged. “Never do know how to stop working, do we?” Or maybe it’s just her. She’s been told that before. “Unless your messages are the personal sort.” Quinn isn’t privy to too many of those. “I won’t pry.” She dismisses quickly, shaking her head. “But, congratulations, Mr. Mayor,” the tone could be joking with anyone else but isn’t with her, still formal as ever as Quinn gestures toward the art she’s taken no time to observe. “The night seems to be going swimmingly. How is it treating you?”
