Maxton Hall || 2x03 Ruby & James
Just finished season 2 of Maxton Hall and I am fuming. I have so many thoughts, but here are the ones I remember:
Why do they all cry multiple times per episode?
Why does no one give James any grace after his literal mom dies?
Why does it feel like they are in the 1800s because everyone on the board and the public think it’s bad that James spoke about his mental health after his mom died?
Why does Mortimer keep saying family is the only thing that matters, but he has no family because his wife is dead and he is abusive towards his kids?
Why does no one in this godforsaken show ever go to the press? James should’ve told the press about his dad being abusive so that the public will turn on him and he will have no power. Ruby and James should go to the press about how Mortimer got Ruby’s scholarship rescinded and bought her parents bakery so he could fire her mom
On that vein, why does no one record anything incriminating anyone says? The only ones who do are the bad guys
Why is Mortimer so focused on Ruby and ruining the life of a 17 year old?
How is one sorta compromising photo of Ruby standing close to a teacher ground to suspend and arrest him?
Why is the only proof they need one non-explicit photo and one eye-witness who could easily be lying?
And the biggest one of all: WHY IN THE WORLD IS A STUDENT SUSPENDED FOR BEING “ALLEGEDLY” TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BY A TEACHER IN A POSITION OF POWER????!!!! Even if the student is over the age of consent, how can it possibly be legal to suspend them and revoke their acceptance to a university on the ground that they “may have” had an affair with a teacher according to a photo of them standing close together and one eye-witness? That just seems wrong and downright illegal.
Maxton Hall
A pretty show with a decent ship. a little cliché in terms of tropes — bad boy + overachiever, enemies-to-lovers, +Romeo & Juliet vibes.
But the visuals are beautiful , and James cries beautifully.
Best scene? When he saved her from the pool, carried her in his arms while she cried and told him her story — and you could see how much it hurt him, how badly he wanted to take her pain away. That was the moment he realized he was completely gone for her, losing all control. One of the biggest markers of love is when you feel your loved one’s pain as your own — and I felt that here
Also they genuinely influence each other. Great soundtrack, good enough obstacles, perfect for a binge. I feel something
So yeah, I’m waiting for more

Please say someone on this hell site watched/is watching Maxton Hall on Prime?
Because I neeed to talk about it.
James and Ruby did the Enemies to friends to lovers thing soooo good even though it's so obvious that's what would happen. Lol.
I'm hoping for Lydia to turn to Ruby because Ruby would be such good support for her, and she would fight for her (and James).
Watching James get jealous was soothing.
Alistair deserves his hot boy summer. No one should be forced to come out but he also deserves to be with someone who isn't afraid to be with him. Let K simmer on his own for a bit and decide what he really wants.
I really hope there's a s2 because...these two idiots. Also, my shipping brain couldn't help it: I definitely saw Zutara and Drarry
Wait what ?! A combination of two of my favorite ships ? Bellfort and Dramione ?! Bellfort as Dramione fancast ?! It's one of the most perfect things who exist !
