DJBC Tumblr Summer Virtual Tour - The “Bryden Road Tour of Homes” Re-Enactment (2011)
Apparently I have zero photos from the 2011 Olde Towne East Tour of Homes, which for the first time ever, limited its focus on one street. That one street? Bryden Road, named after 19th Century Columbus City Councilman James Bryden (of which nobody knows anything about the Brydens, or their lineage, how they came to Columbus, and where they moved onto). Bryden Road between Parsons Avenue and the Railroad Tracks (west of Nelson Road) is a Historic District, meaning that if a house on Bryden, or on within the alleys surrounding Bryden on adjacent streets needs anything done, or a variance, they would have to get an Appropriateness Certificate from the City of Columbus Historic Resources Commission (I know, it’s hard to explain). Bryden Road has stately old homes, where the Who’s Who of the Turn of the 20th Century called home.
