How do I get started on Philosophy of Science? Popper or Kuhn?
I’ve written a bit about this before, like here and here. Ultimately, I think it best to start with secondary sources so you can get a feel for the landscape and the nature of the debates. Two great places to start: Jeff Kasser’s Great Course series on Philosophy of Science (also available on Audible) and the text Worldviews by James DeWitt. I think those are both fantastic introductions to the major issues in the philosophy of science. If you want to dive right into some direct sources, though, between Popper and Kuhn I would start with Popper. He is writing mostly before Kuhn, and a lot of what Kuhn has to say in The Structures of Scientific Revolutions is a response to Popper and his falsification criterion. Best of luck!
