The North Shore got a little greener today with the opening of the Stapleton Waterfront Park. Staten Island Borough President James Oddo, City Council Representative Debi Rose and Assemblyman Matthew Titone were on hand for the ribbon cutting outside the new URBY apartment complex. Life-Wire News Service photographers Anthony DiFato, Raheim Gladden and Michael Halbreich were on hand to capture the moment.
“The opening of this park nicely complements the renaissance that is taking place along the North Shore,” according to Oddo. “The park will surely become a waterfront haven thanks to its proximity to URBY and the rest of the ‘Core Four’ projects. Creating this green space is an important step in the major redevelopment that is going to transform the North Shore and increase activity along the waterfront.”

In addition, the Human Resources Administration, along with FEMA search and rescue, have targeted our most high risk households and will continue this effort until power is restored
Gotham Gazette's Councilpedia nuggets
If you remember Gotham Gazette's last series of Councilpedia updates, the latest has more with a bigger look at 2013. Here are are two of their nuggets on Brooklyn Councilmen James Oddo (R-Staten, Dyker Heights) and Domenic Recchia (D-Bensonhurst, Coney Island):
--Despite being a Republican, Oddo has gotten donations from a number of labor unions, such as the United Federation of Teachers. Many of his biggest contributors are from Staten Island, including Stanley Friedman, the Bronx Democratic leader convicted of corruption who now works as general manager of the Staten Island Hotel, and Bruno Savo of Savo Brothers builders. --In his likely quest for a yet to be announced higher office, Brooklyn Councilmember Dominic Recchia has raised slightly more than $150,000. Of that more than $23,000 comes from people named Gindi, at least some of whom are executives and owners of the Century 21 stores. One -- Isaac Gindi -- has already given Recchia $8,750 for this election cycle.
