Why is it that I just cannot make myself read Jim/Bones? There are other fandoms where I can dip my toes in non-OTP waters! But Jim and Spock are just. Destiny. Soulmates. I can't even deal with how much I ship them. And I'm perfectly fine with them hooking up with / dating other people along the way, BUT THEY HAVE TO END UP TOGETHER IN THE END. It even kind of hurts me when Spock Prime in the new fandom has moved on after his Jim's death. Even though it's necessary because pon farr, mate-or-die, and anyway why can't you reconcile yourself to the fact that (one of?) the love(s?) of your life is gone forever until maybe the afterlife if that exists - and move on?
And I have actually tried to read Jim/Bones. One time I even thought it was kind of hot, and then immediately felt like a traitor.
So no. Jim may be a space skank and Spock may have his canon relationship with Nyota, but they have to end up together because otherwise my heart will break into a thousand despondent pieces. You know?
(Also - this is really frustrating because generally i have good google-fu but i can't find it anywhere - does anyone know the fic where Jim tells Bones he does not even have a "no uglies" policy, but rather a "love me some fucking uglies" policy?)
