Tbh I felt kind of iffy about James Vela's redesign that got unveiled on To Hell and Back's new website... I do think his new outfit does look handsome on him and I also like the new red halo he's got on himself (I think it fits him, given his connections with churches), but I don't like how his horns, hair, and wings ended up almost completely changed... I think his huge feathery wings and the light coming out of the tips of his horns were super iconic, so just having those aspects of him be stripped away makes him look... off. It just looks like an awkward substitute for his old design rather than something that keeps the vibes of the old design intact.
Cana just looks like its a SC from their song but I'm sending it anyways. I dont have much to say for Kieran since he didn't change too much, same with Nina, though I do like the changes made to Nina's outfit. I have mixed thoughts on James tbh, I'm torn between his new design and his old one, and I kinda like his old hair more, but I do really like how his horns and wings look now. And for Sarai, I don't have anything to say about her tbh, she just got some shading

leonardo right here is so pretty.. i love the 60s/70s fashion motifs to match with the time period change. I will miss him being my 1930s girl but its okay ❤️ she can be a 60s/70s baddie too
the design also feels a lot more mature compared to their original one (which will always hold a special place in my heart) and i love how red, a color that was always associated with him, is actually being incorporated into their design now
i also like how you can tell more about their character on design alone besides "sexy succubus tortures rapists". The jacket (which could also be a callback to their original design) kinda communicates how closed off he is. Its overall a much more solid character design compared to the original. Im thinking of drawing OG james in leo's fit though because again, the og holds a special place in my heart.
Edit: another thing I just noticed on his design is his tattoo is of the Sacred/Immaculate Heart! I think that's a really cool callback to the Mother Mary stuff!
i think its still easy to tell he's the head of lust from this design, its just way easier to communicate OTHER aspects of his character now.
Overall their redesign is a lot more appealing visually to me and i really REALLY love it. I will miss his big wings though :( (the new ones work AMAZING with this design i think the original wings wouldve made it too cluttered.. maybe if they were just silhouettes theyd work?? But im not complaining it looks awesome)
