Contains break from James Wells - My Claim To Fame(1978)
Dear Gus & Magnus,
I didn't take a picture today, so I dug into the archives and found this one from 13 years ago when I was starting my second year of graduate school at the University of New Orleans. My favorite part about living in NOLA was how much I got to ride my bike as a primary mode of transportation. But I also liked the social aspect of it. On this night, my friend Coleen and I participated in the monthly Critical Mass bicycle ride.
In the middle of the ride, we happened upon a shooting that resulted in the death of a 17-year-old. I made eye contact with the guy who did the shooting as he made his getaway, nearly running over me in his car in the process. I didn't see the actual shooting, but I did ride around the corner to see the man lying in the ditch -- he must've died immediately. His mother walked out of the house and screamed over his body, then she paced back and forth along the street while other young men went for their guns and drove off in a car, full of hostility.
I tried to give a description of the shooter to a police officer, but he didn't write anything down beyond my name and phone number, which he said he would give to the detectives. But they never called. (The next day, in an article about the shooting, the newspaper included a Crimestoppers hotline to provide information. I left a message, but I never got a call back from them either.)
The whole thing was so tragic.
Dad.

Concrete Slugz - 24 Wallis Ave [Audio]
MCs Jibbarish, I-Ty, Tekneek and Mr G who are the Concrete Slugz got a new twelve track LP entitled 24 Wallis Ave out now. Slamming tracks as you would expect featuring guest spots from James Wells, Wisdom, Verbs and LJ Howard. Speaking oin the release Mr.G stated, “we can’t wait for you to hear this one… it feels like everything we’ve made in the past has led up to this point culminating in our…
Cease using the phrase “Standard Model” for a theory we know to be incorrect. Things James Wells writes are usually worth reading, and this is no exception. Highly recommended to anyone (like me) who is thinking a lot about the current state, and future, of particle physics.
What's James's story?
I have some theories about this.
So, my sources tell me he’s a lawyer... and by that I mean I saw him at the courthouse while I was turning in some paperwork. But that just seems too cut-and-dry to me. I think he’s an agent from the FBI or CIA or FTC, sent here to weed out corruption in the MWPD. Or maybe he’s a new Rascal. Or he’s here on behalf of the Syndicate. He’s just... he’s too scary and buff to be a laywer, okay?! It doesn’t make any sense!

James was a good son, a good friend, a good citizen wanting always the best for other people. His childhood, wasn’t always the best, growing up almost alone, he didn’t have siblings or most friends. His father abandoned James when he was 2 years old, or so his mother says. His mother worked nights and days, so he never had a relationship with her growing up. The streets of Chicago were his calling, his home, and his escape from everything else.
He was a pretty wimpy kid, short, and skinny, always the target for bullying. It wasn’t until his teens when he started to grow up and hit the gym, now no one could mess with him. Like every other teenager he didn’t know where he was heading in life. Unfortunately for him, he had landed in the wrong place at the wrong time. He witnessed a murder, from a notorious gangster at the time. No one saw him, but he did see how they put the blame on someone else. Later he found out, the same man who got put the blame on things went to prison for life. James should have come forward, but he didn’t or else he’d be put in his place. That’s when he knew he wanted to become a lawyer and stop with all the crimes and false accusations.
Putting himself through non-stop work just to get himself ahead and be able to pay for school and all his expenses, he had to go through some dirty work in order to pay it all. James ended up getting senior partner at a young age, he got the money, the expensive cars, and the women. He lost himself in it, turning into a person he never wanted to be. Before he could go any deeper, he found a job opportunity that would put him back in his place and remember why he wanted to be a lawyer in the first place. Not only did he find what he was looking for but noticed that corruption follows him everywhere.

James is outspoken, witty, and fearless, he never had any trouble with those traits. He can be harsh at times and not careful of his words but when you get to know him, you can see his soft spots come out. He likes to help people, anyway he can. Not giving a fuck if they need his help or not. Growing up alone, has made him push people away, not wanting anyone to get too close to him. He’s driven and won’t stop until he gets exactly what he wants. He’s wiling to get his hands dirty in order to stop the corruption and get to the bottom of everything even if it’s risking his own life.
