Read the links & promise to stay off your blog. I'm sorry for directing Jamieson to yr post & intruding on your conversation. Reblogged yr post in October to discuss cis white gay men in Azealia’s fanbase embracing her music while espousing transphobia. I later showed it to Jamieson as an example of gay media ignoring problematic comments until cis gay men were targets. I shouldn’t have done that without making sure that your ideas were understood and weren’t used without permission or context.
You can stay, but if you are going to give me a platform without my knowledge you have to be willing to combat the divides you create.
You all had 6 months to come tell me about your thoughts.
And chose to not include me.
In your conversation about me.
And I got harassed for it.
Jamieson needs to flesh this out and so do you.
Take responsibility for clearing my name because I was not involved for months in this buildup.

Apologies for the cruddy sound quality, but I figured in this case it was worth actually showing the concert I was at. In fact, in the front, second from left, big ol' beard? That's me.
Hot Chip were phenomenal the first time I saw them, years ago, and they've gotten just a little bit better every time I've seen them since. Jamieson told me that they were one of the highlights of Pitchfork Fest for him, and I am not surprised in the least; they're a ferocious live band now, especially with two added members (the drummer is exactly what you want for this band, really).
I could have the usual small fan-quibbles with the setlist (I like "Look at Where We Are" just fine, but no "These Chains"? also I miss "No Fit State"), but given that they played the rest of the songs from the new album that I wanted to hear and encored with "Hold On" (which, jesus) those would be even more churlish than normal. There were also the nice little revelations you get with good live bands (and I don't just mean the interpolations, although those were present and awesome), such as the way "One Life Stand" and "Night and Day" mesh perfectly together. There are certain bands I will see every time they come to town, whether or not they have a new record or I've seen them recently, and Hot Chip are indisputably one of them. See this goddamn band if you can.

A Touching Display
So back in the old Stylus days, I had a podcast. It ran for 43 episodes. I believe I have all of it on a CD or two around here somewhere. Listening to the very good first episode of Jamieson's new interview series (which I am going to participate in, at some point) reminded me of A Touching Display, and now I'm idly considering digging it out and posting it here, maybe once a week, if there's any interest at all. What do you say, internet? Anyone want to hear some music and a very young me rambling about it?
(and yes, I'm also idly considering restarting it too, although where I'd find the time I don't know...)

Apparently we're going to see a play directed by Atom Egoyan tonight (boyfriend's parents' season tickets) and maybe to see a friend's band at the Silver Dollar Room tomorrow. Oh, Toronto, never change.
