What's your favorite bedtime or campfire story?

as someone who’s gone to overnight camp for years and worked at an overnight camp for a year you have no idea how many bedtime/campfire stories i’ve heard.

recently though i’ve been listening to various science podcast episodes or more recently exurb1a videos to fall asleep because he’s such a fantastic storyteller. i really love his story called “the lantern” which is an excerpt from his book (which i need to buy immediately). it’s absolutely incredible and i recommend everyone listen to it, even if you’re not into science fiction.

i almost forgot to mention, i also listened to this fantastic long-form story from the ‘sleep with me’ podcast called “after the glass slipper” (sort of a what-happens-after-cinderella story) which has some of the most three-dimensional flawed characters, interesting plot lines, actual character development and hilarious twists in a fairytale retelling ever. it’s told in a very casual, relaxing way so it’s best to listen to it chunks at a time right before bed or while doing a task. it’ll get goofy at times but if you’re along for the ride it’s a great time.

personally hc that they have movie nights every week and bubby ALWAYS insists on watching horror movies even though he gets spooked really easily, especially by jumpscares. coomer’s always there to comfort him of course <3

HI YES i have SO many i love them

- dadrey is REAL benrey is such a good dad/parent to joshua!! gordon is almost blown away by how good he is with joshie and also it makes him fall even that much more in love

- benrey emits next to no body heat of his own while gordon is like a fucking furnace so it doesn't take long after canon and benrey moving in for them to start sharing a bed since benrey literally won't shut Up about how cold gordon keeps his apartment

- gordon is the one who proposes. it's probably about a year and a half after canon, and they've been dating for a good portion of that. benrey had actually been considering proposing but was too scared it would somehow ruin things so he never does and suddenly they're walking around their favorite park at like 3 am (one of the nights josh is spending at his uncle tommy's) and they're laughing and gordon says "marry me". and they kinda like freeze up and gordons scared shitless but it's already out there so might as well go full throttle while he's still ahead so he's plops down on one knee and pulls the ring he'd bought two months ago (and yeah carried it around with him everywhere like a sap) and he asks it for real: "will you marry me?" benrey's like frozen to the spot and is just staring at gordon whose internally borderline having a breakdown when suddenly benrey drops to his knees and hugs gordon so tightly he's nearly suffocating and he's not even saying words, it's just garbled sweet voice and it's all different kinds of colors but gordon doesn't need tommy to translate to know it means yes :)

- they have their wedding a month later and they both wear dresses and so does the whole science team. tommy is benrey's man of honor and both bubby and coomer are gordons (gordon was originally gonna just pick coomer but bubby threw a fit so gordon decided fuck it they can both be it). joshie is both flowerboy and brings the rings and he rides sunkist as he goes down the isle and the whole thing is ridiculous and perfect and benrey definitely cries his eyes out (gordon does too but he tries to be more subtle about it). darnold officiates, he's wearing a dress too because why not. forzen is also there.
