The first time Jake got into jail, it was in the alternate world where he got caught for stealing and his file didn't show up in the missing person's system. A social worker had come to take Jake away when Felix, Sam and Andy showed up. Andy then took a magnet and managed to erase all and any footage incriminating them. A while later he found out that Andy's magnet didn't do anything but his heart twitched at the thought that Andy still tried.
The first time Jake got accidentally sick, it was in the alternate world where he ate a pickle he wasn't supposed to eat. His face felt green and he was going to puke and he didn't know what to do so Andy ran after a Nainai who was increasingly suspicious of them to ask for her help. It was Andy who took a risk to save Jake and it was Andy who washed dishes for meagre wages just so Jake would eat proper food. No one had ever done that for him other than his mother. He never thought anyone would do that for him other than his mother. Jake, who had a history of not letting his friends into his house for fear of making fun of his home, now found home in a fifteen year old Chinese-Singaporean nerd washing dishes just to get him fed.
Anyways what I'm saying is that the next time Jake gets hurt or in trouble, his very body turning into the earth that was beneath his very feet, do you think he reached out for Andy subconsciously? He got so used to Andy with a solution, Andy with a plan, Andy trying, Andy just being here when Jake needed him that he felt that if he just reached out enough, Andy would meet him halfway. That when Jake fell, Andy would be there to catch him. Do you think when Jake opened his eyes as his body turned to rocks and stones and soil and earth, that he was expecting to see Andy there? Because I think the entire time his body froze, petrified, as he turned into a statue of himself, as he prepares to die and die scared he thinks silently: Andy is supposed to be here.
