Got her name changed to Jane in order to avoid the associated memories with Jennifer. For some reason Edna is extremely insistent on Jane to revoke anything that reminds her of anything from her pre-model-citizen days. Weird...

Judging by the afterword of Boleyn Traitor, Philippa has changed her mind on Jane Rochford.

But like, I get the sense from the afterword that she paints the villification of Jane as something OTHER PEOPLE did.

"Jane got the blame" YOU WERE PART OF THAT PHILIPPA. OWN IT. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.

She mentions the other boleyn girl and is like "well that's Mary Boleyn's POV and she's worried that what's said about her sister is true" but I don't see any acknowledgement of The Boleyn Inheritance.

"Jane is portrayed as a voyeur" BY YOU. IN THE BOLEYN INHERITANCE.

"The common sense view" girl literally in the afterword of the Boleyn Inheritance you said you didn't Jane "was ever entirely sane".

I'm just.... i'm a little bit disgusted, honestly.

Is it really so hard to just swallow your pride and say: "i am fallible, I didn't sufficiently question the narrative at the time, i regurgitated misogynistic myths, I take responsibility for that, but times change and so I change with the times".

Is that too much to ask????

TARZAN AND HIS MATE (1934)

The second in M.G.M'.s Tarzan film series, with Johnny Weissmuller as the Ape Man and Maureen O'Sullivan as Jane.

The first film, Tarzan the Ape Man (1932), had been a huge success, and M.G.M. was eager to keep the money train rolling.

In continuity with the first film, Neil (Commissioner Gordon) Hamilton returns as Harry Holt, who had been with Jane when she met Tarzan. Holt is eager to get Jane to return to civilization, but she is more than happy to stay with Tarzan.

These early films caused a lot of controversy at the time because of the skimpy outfits that O'Sullivan wore as Jane, the implication that Jane slept in the nude, a nude swimming scene, and that Tarzan and Jane were sleeping together even though they were not married (even though Tarzan refers to Jane as "my wife" at one point; he was probably referring to common law).

As far as I recall, Tarzan and Jane were never "officially" married in the film series. That's why when it was time to give them a kid in Tarzan Finds A Son! (1939) the couple adopted the infant survivor of a plane crash, instead of having a child of their own out of wedlock.
