Destroy your own family, and leave mine alone.
307. The first issue of Sassy, March, 1988 (part 1)
I thought it was Juliette Lewis on the cover too, but its not.
I adore the packaging on these mascaras, but you and me both know that colored mascara never works. Never never never.
I forgot about Camp Beverly Hills! I began typing the brand name into Google, and the autofill came up with “Camp Beverly Hills Movie”. No! Camp Beverly Hills had nothing to do with Troop Beverly Hills which came out around a year later.
Sidenote, but can’t you totally imagine Phyllis vaping in 2017?
I remember the perfume in the glass canteen-like bottle more than anything else from the line.
This is a little cringey. First issue jitters?
Nevertheless, Jane Pratt was extremely successful with Sassy Magazine until the mid 90s, and then later on with Jane magazine, and then to a lesser extent with xojane.com, which I was never crazy about. I didn’t realize it had shut down at the end of last year.
Gucci in Sassy? It happened.
The teacher assistant in my Kindergarten class had one of these watches with the color band you could change to match your clothes. I was always fascinated by what color she was going wear that day.
There’s that Mackenzie Astin video again! The one that Gene Siskel liked and suggested as a holiday present back in ‘87!
I forgot about these giant bangles. They’re everywhere in this issue. These remind me of those popeet bottles, or in the early 90s, those burp bottles Little Caesars gave away with kool aid the Summer of 1992:
