hello! Sorry things aren't great for you right now, I feel the same way. I'm here if you ever want to DM about it 💛 I know what you mean about tvd being a bit slow in the first half, but I think it really picks up in the second half. Hope you like it! And I've heard about the Darius the Great duology, it sounds super interesting so I'll definitely check it out!

I've been in a bit of a book slump lately, but I'm currently reading As I Descended which is a loose reimagining of Macbeth and it's surprisingly good. I love Shakespeare retellings.

hello my love, I miss sending you asks so here I am again. How are you?? I hope your 2021 is off to a good start! 💛💛 Have you read any good books recently?

hi Saima!! 🤍🤍 things are a little complicated right now but I am trying to be ok! How are you?

oooh yes I have! I have read the poppy war trilogy, just as I was thinking that it was getting hard for me to enjoy fantasy... and then I read these books and they were sooo good! especially the second one. my absolute favorite.

I am currently reading these violent delights, I think it’s really good but a bit slow for my taste, there’s something in the way it’s built up that is bothering me a little but I’m still enjoying it though... and I’m only around 50% so hopefully the pacing will change in the second half!

And I’m reading Darius the great is not okay, which I am really enjoying for various reasons : I can see bits of my teenage-self in the MC and his relationship with his parents, all the tea talk is giving me life, and I’m always curious about other cultures so everything about Iran and Persians is really exciting! Even though the writing is pretty simplistic, but still very personal I think. It’s not perfect but it fits the book (told in the first person by the teenage MC).

9 - Best month for you this year?

March! The first half of the month I was really busy, did a concert, I worked on a really good play every night in a beautiful theatre. I was getting ready for my trip to Turkey, full of motivation and trying to learn turkish... then lockdown happened and I managed to go stay with my parents and I have to say it was pretty nice at the beginning, to be with my family, doing nothing all day and not feeling guilty about that because it was out of my control.

20 - What’s something you learned this year?

So many things, but I’ll stick with 2 : The first one is that when you wanna do something, if you can do it... don’t wait, don’t say “I’ll do it tomorrow or next month”. I regret not doing a few things before lockdown and now I have no idea when I’ll be able to. The second thing is, sometimes you realize that what mattered the most at one point in your life isn’t what matters now. That there are many ways to find happiness and it’s not necessarily the way you pictured when you were younger. Or that “giving up” on your childhood dreams isn’t always giving up, but more like building new dreams, that it’s not always sad and that it’s ok to not feel like that anymore. I don’t owe anything to my 14 year-old self and it’s ok to accept that this person is not who I am now, it’s ok to grow up !

Yeah... 2020 has been full of thinking 💫
