A new meme I made.
I could see these fuckers being secondary villains in future Halo games. For SURE!
I’d like to see that. Maybe give them incoherent radiostatic voices like the HECU troops in Half-Life. (ASS!!!!!!!!!)

Ottoman Janissaries and the defending Knights of St. John (who are depicted wearing Eastern armour) at the Siege of Rhodes (1522). Fethullah Çelebi Arifi (historian, poet and painter) and/or Matrakçı Nasuh (painter of landscape) and/or other painters at the court of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. Süleymanname MS. H. 1517, f. 149a, Topkapi Lib. Istambul; scanned from reproduction in "A story of history" by Arnold Toynbee.
I don't understand why the people complain about the Janissaries being more difficult than the Papal Guards. That's the point! They are meant to be difficult:
-Papal Guards are adults who got enlisted to be guards for the Pope. Janissaries were trained since 13 to be warriors. There is a difference between an adult man who recently enlisted and a person who has been trained as a warrior their entire life.
-There is also the factor that Ezio, formidable and skilled warrior he is, even he is not immune to the ravages of time, that is why in Revelations, the combat has a slower pace, instead of the more frenetical rhythm that Brotherhood has.
You referred to GRRM's insulting equivalent of the Mamluks and Janissaries. You wouldn't mind elaborating on why you think so?
Sure, I don't mind. As always, a proper historian is free to correct me if and where I've gotten something wrong.
The Mamluks and Janissaries were not eunuchs, were not given drugs, were not made to change their names every day, and were not forced to kill puppies or babies as part of their training
Over time, they grew so powerful that, like the Praetorian Guard of the Roman Empire, they became the power behind the throne and literal kingmakers, as more than one Ottoman sultan learned the hard way when he tried to rein in the Janissaries to give just one example
The Mamluks and Janissaries did not use tactics and equipment that were millennia behind the curve
Retired Janissaries were given positions of importance within the Ottoman bureaucracy
The Mamluks were the only ones allowed to openly carry weapons and the Janissaries were the first military unit in the world to have their own marching band
To be a Mamluk was prestigious enough for parents to sell their own children into slavery for a shot at being one
As part of their training, the Janissaries were given a formal education
(Its things like this that make me thankful GRRM doesn't have an equivalent of Arabs or Islam in his setting.)
Thanks for the question, @cynicalclassicist

Ottomans vs late romans. I did not win but it was a great game. My ottomans have more "tricks" then any of my other armies so it's always good to dust them off. Game was Warhammer ancient battles v2
