Brought out my old aquarelles and tried painting something! It’s been years since I used them last, but I’m pretty happy with the result! This is a scene from @katywriteswords book There Will Come a Darkness. It’s when the lighthouse of Nazirah explodes and Jude and Anton dives off the top of it into the ocean. I couldn’t remember if the scene takes place during the day or night, so I decided to paint it happening during the nighttime... I just thought that would make the fire pop more ☺️
Anton: C’mon, I wasn’t that drunk last night.
Jude: You were flirting with me.
Anton: So, you’re my boyfriend.
Jude: You asked if I was single.
Anton: …
Jude: And you cried when I said no.
*at the taverna*
Jude, internally: be cool, just get the blade and leave
Anton: *smiles*
Jude: I’m gonna gay … I mean go … bye!
Jude's destiny had always been Anton. The Prophet. It wasn't the reason he loved Anton, but it was bound up in everything they'd gone through together. It was there in the way Jude followed him. It was there in the way he kissed him, the way he touched him. Faith, devotion, love, desire-there was no untangling it.
Into the Dying Light
This is how it went right?
Rough sketch I did of these two lads I hope they look alright. I’ll definitely be doing more drawings of them, and maybe I’ll even line one of them lol
Happy 2020 !!!
now i cant get the mental image of patton in unicorn form, wearing 2 pairs of jeans, one for the back legs, and one for the front ((hes also got a small pair that he puts on his ears if he really wants to mess with people))
IM GONNA CRy omg
JANTON CITY. handholding 16, hugging 10, touching 8. very soft please.
This one is modern AU and I've decided that, when Penrose isn't around, Beru and Jude are both the team moms of this group and would have backpacks filled with snacks and bottles of water.
Handholding - only linking the pinkies together, not ready to let go completely
++++
In the crush of the amusement park crowd, Jude had frantically reached for Anton’s hand before the two halves of their group were separated.
Anton must think it is part of a game, because he tosses a smile over his shoulder and uses his other hand to grab Beru’s.
Beru grabs Ephyra, and Ephyra refuses to reach for Ilya’s, but he doesn’t seem to notice.
So, needing to play along, and not make the confession that Jude had only wanted to ensure he didn’t get separated from Anton, he holds his hand out to Khepri behind him just before a river of people can pass between them.
She in turn take’s Hassan’s, and he doesn’t even break from his conversation with Hector as they both grab hold of the other at the same time.
Great, Jude thinks. Now they’ve become a large snake of people wending its way towards the next ride. Not exactly what he wanted, but honestly, Jude isn’t too sure what spurred him on to take Anton’s hand in the first place.
It’s not like he would get lost. He has a map, he knows which ride they’re headed to next. He didn’t have to grab Anton’s hand. Maybe it’s just as well that everyone else latched on so he doesn’t look so much like an idiot as they all spill into the shade to the side of the ride and take a moment to count heads.
“All here!” Beru says excitedly, releasing Anton and Ephyra so she can clap her hands together. “Let’s go! Does anyone want snacks?” She lets Ephyra guide her into line as she starts to rummage around in her backpack.
Jude is about to do the same when he realizes that Anton is still holding onto his hand.
Just barely. But enough.
Jude had gripped his fingers during their journey to the ride, and Anton had curled his own back around to secure the hold. It had been an awkward thing born out of a last-minute scramble.
Now, the tips of Anton’s fingers hook around Jude’s, the barest of connections, as if he had realized almost too late that Jude’s hand had been pulling away and he still wanted to hold on.
Jude is so lost in the moment of realization that he doesn’t even register Hector’s question until his friend nudges him in the shoulder. “What?”
“I asked if I can grab the trail mix.” There’s an expression on Hector’s face that Jude can’t read, but he imagines that Hector has no trouble reading whatever sort of emotional nonsense is going on on Jude’s.
“Uh, yeah. Go ahead.” Jude tries to discreetly pull his hand from Anton’s, who is still chatting away with Beru.
The fingers loosen their grip, but Anton’s knuckles brush against the palm of his hand and soon it’s only their pinkies looped together as they shuffle forward.
Once Hector retreats with the trailmix, Anton gives a small tug to Jude’s hand — nothing more than a twitch of his wrist, the slightest pressure against the single point of contact. But it’s enough, and Jude steps forward under the guise of closing the distance in the line.
Their hands are hidden in the space between them, and Anton’s smile softens as he nudges Jude’s ring finger with his own. Not enough to take it back, but enough to know that it was deliberate.
Shyly, uncertain of the motive, Jude returns the gesture, and that seems to be the right answer.
(feel free to send me some tender requests this weekend!)
