Jack's day
Jack's daily post: the eighteenth edition. So I woke up in Anaheim, and it was time for a volleyball tournament. Our first match, we were playing the reigning bronze medalist from last year. They were *really* good. We put up a good match; I was actually swinging really well and I had some great blocks. We had a lackluster second set, however, and ended up losing. Our second match was against a team from Pennsylvania. Woah! They basically had only one hitter, but that one hitter was a beast. I had a good first set, but the whole team, myself included, fell apart in the second set. We ended up losing this one as well. Not fun. Our third match against the four seed in the pool, however, we turned around. We were clearly dominant in every facet, and we were really just able to roll with it. We ended up winning. So overall for the day, we held seed. Didn't exceed expectations, didn't fall low of the expectations, but simply met them. Coming back to the hotel, I really just hung out. I still haven't done nearly enough homework: only my two wiki posts. I really need to get work done tomorrow lol. But whatever. I streamed Stanford vs. Grand Canyon men's volleyball live, which was really exciting. Stanford ended up winning their season opener in four. I read about some players who were signed to play volleyball for Stanford next year. These are players that I know and have played against. I'm super jealous, but it is some added motivation to work hard. Didn't text her today; didn't have too much time, and it was just eh. Oh well. Maybe tomorrow. So yeah, that was all that happened to Jack on January 4, 2013.
Exhaustion pulls at my body
It makes my limbs heavy and my mind numb
Every day is a struggle,
Make it out alive, make it out pretending.
I'm so tired of smiling and nodding; commanded by a bell and a voice whose caretaker used to have my eyes.
Why can we not spend our days in love.
Love does not exhaust, it does not make us weary.
Love breathes life into our beings and fills our hearts and minds with endless wonder.
Some may say it's selfish and ignorant to be in love with something, but the countless hours I am required to spend listening to empty air makes my heart ache and my eyes burn.
Exhaustion pulls at my body
And exhaustion pulls at my love.

*burns bacon and it falls*
me: Did you just cremate bacon?
friend: Yes, yes I did
