Domovoi.
What is a Domovoi? A Domovoi is a Russian house entity. They are small creatures, that often take on the form of an animal around others and will often have similar appearances to their masters. If treated well they will guard the house with their life and ensure that all within remains safe, they also help with household chores. If the house is mistreated/unkempt they will cause poltergeist level annoyances until the inhabitants fix their behaviour. In return for their service, they are to be respected and, if their master is a decent person, given food, drink and gifts as a thank you for their hard work. When they do their chores, they do so unseen and in their normal forms of little elves, when they want to be around their masters is when they take on an animal form.
What is Zel’s Domovoi like? The name of Zelek’s Domovoi is Jar, he has been part of Zel’s household since his grandparent's generation. He has moved from place to place with Zel and won't allow anyone to see him except Zel. His animal form is of a vampire bat with blue eyes and blue markings; it was originally a dog until Zelek asked him to change it to a bat (thinking he was funny). Jar is normally very quiet, respectful and well-mannered, he likes to sit as a bat on Zel’s shoulder when he reads.
