The screen gave him and the rest of the crew the view of what was going on forty feet above them. You and Jensen were doing a scene with a few extras in the four story warehouse in front of them while Jared waited down below with the other camera crew, getting ready to get the shot that was coming up. He wasn't in this particular scene, but once this shot was captured, he'd be in the next one, so he kept close.
Richard Speight was directing this one, and with a little help from Jensen before the shots went into full swing, everything seemed to run smoothly. The camera angles were perfect and with you and Jensen being the professionals you were, the scenes up there were unraveling flawlessly.
"Cut." Rich pulled his headphones off and grabbed the megaphone from next to his chair, pointing it up towards the top floor where the window just burst out into tiny fake shards.
"Alright, Y/N! I want you launch yourself backwards." Jared looked up at the opening on the fourth floor seeing you standing there, nodding down at Rich. "Take a second to line yourself up, and when you're ready, he's going to come at you and then you go for it! Okay!?" You nod again and Jared watches as you look down at the large inflatable stunt bag that waited for you on the ground. After so many years on the show, the three of you were no stranger to jumping out of windows, but the butterflies were still just as new with each time something like this came around.
You turned back into the large room, the crew's eyes on you as you took a few more moments to prepare yourself, and then they saw you raise your hand with a clear thumbs up, letting them all know that you were ready.
"Everyone ready!" Rich slid his headphones back over his ears, took one more glance up at you in the window and then his eyes went to the screen. "Action!"
Jared saw the scene quickly unfold. Their extra, who was playing a demon in this particular scene, turned to look at you with his black eyes and then his hand lifted, forcing you out the window. 'Dean' screamed for you as you launched yourself backwards.
Him, Rich and everyone else around then took their eyes off the screen and watched as you fell forty feet towards the large inflatable pillow. Jensen ran towards the window, staying in character as he watched from above, completely distraught at what was happening.
But no one knew that in just a few seconds, all their faces would be matching Jensen's, and none of it would be an act.
Everyone watched as your body landed on the thick plastic, but all eyes went wide when they saw where you landed.
Usually anywhere near the middle is of course best. Even just on the outskirts is okay. But you were nowhere close to that.
You just caught the edge of the bag, and because the location, your body bounced and the pillow tossed you onto the concrete just off to the side of it.
"Y/N!" Jared was the first to take off in your direction, then everyone else followed. Rich quickly ripped his headphones off and tossed them to the ground, practically tripping over the leg of the chair as he sped towards you.
"Y/N!?" Jared could hear you groan before he fell to your side and it killed him when he finally came face to face with you.
Your eyes were screwed shut in pain and he could see that every limb was stiff as your body tensed up. Poor Jensen wanted to be down there , but seeing that the swarm of crew members were already surrounding you, he figured his best view at the moment was right there.
"Is she okay!?" Jensen yelled down to the hoard of people, his anxiety spiking like crazy since his view was obstructed. "Jared!?" One of the crew members looked up, holding up a finger, telling him that none of them knew how you were yet.
"What hurts?" Rich asked as he held a gentle hand to your left arm. Though your eyes were still screwed shut, both him and Jared watched your head roll back and forth as you tried to contain the pain.
"Y/N?" Jared tried now, his right hand resting gently on your arm while his left ran over the side of your head, looking for any blood or unusual marks.
"Back." you cry out through clenched teeth. "Everything." With that, Jared glanced up, meeting Richards gaze quickly, and then Rich jumped to his feet.
"Alright, guys, everyone back up! Give her some room!" One of the medics had joined Jared next to you while Rich stopped the other one, telling them that they needed to get an ambulance. Thankfully, they quickly got on their walkie and called for the ambulance on site.
The second Jensen saw the ambulance pulling up, he rushed out of the building, taking the stairs two or more at a time. By the time he got down there, they were loading you up into the vehicle and Jared jumped in after saying something to Richard.
"Is she okay!?" he didn't slow until he reached the back of the ambulance. The doors were already shut so he tried to peek through the window to see if his question would be answered, but all he saw was you laying flat with a brace around your neck and Jared holding your hand. "Rich?"
"I-I don't know." Cleary in distress, he pushed his hair back out of his face while his eyes watched the ambulance drive off the lot, but once it was out of sight, he turned to Jensen, quickly seeing the desperation in his pleading eyes.
With his stomach doing flips with every second that went by, Jared wished with everything he had that you would open your eyes and look at him, but you were clearly in way to much pain to do so. Yet, that didn't stop the tears from sliding from the small slits, causing him to feel even more helpless that he couldn't do anything to make you more comfortable.
"Just breathe, okay?" his thumb continued to run over your knuckles, even as your hand gripped down on his with all your strength.
Jared kept glancing towards the foot of the gurney, seeing the EMT carefully move your feet and legs to see if you broke anything from the waist down. Though you kept crying out in pain, it was nowhere near the sounds you would have made if something was broken.
"Anything hurting more than it should?" The EMT asked, looking up at you. Jared saw you bite down on your lip before finally opening your eyes just enough to look at the man.
"My right arm." you answered with a shaky breath, and Jared's eyes instantly shot over to your right side. "Shoulder....back."
"So, your whole right side, pretty much?" You give a short nod as the man stands but stays hunched over as to not hit his head on the roof of the vehicle.
He reaches across your still body, grabbing your right hand first, playing with your fingers for a moment before slowly moving up your arm. When he touched your wrist, you let out a painful yelp, getting both of their attention.
But, since you said that your shoulder and back hurt, the man kept going on his hunt, his fingers messing with every inch of skin up your right arm, until he made it to your shoulder.
Your teeth clamped down on your bottom lip, so much so that Jared was afraid you were going to pierce your own skin. The strangled cry that came out made tears prick his eyes and his stomach knot up.
"I think you may have fractured your wrist, and I think it's safe to say that you really messed up your shoulder. We'll get you into x-ray when we land at the mother ship, alright?" Your eyes fell shut again. All that was going through your mind now was how bad was your injuries and how long were you going to be out of work because of them.
"Jared!" Hearing the familiar voice, Jared's head snapped up and saw Jensen and Clif jogging towards him. "How is she?" Panting because of the panic plus the running added on top of that, Jensen looked down the hall before meeting his friends eyes again.
"Uh...they think that she fractured her wrist and probably her shoulder too. They took her back for x-rays the second we got here."
"Jesus." Jensen sighed, his hand running over his forehead as he played your fall over and over in his mind.
"Yeah. She's in a lot of pain." Jared's voice caught at the end, earning a comforting hand from Jensen on his shoulder. Both men took a minute to get a grip on their emotions and then Jared let out a heavy breath. "Rich let you go?" Jensen shrugged as he glanced down the hall again, hoping to see you.
"He's just as worried as us. I think he's gonna call it for the rest of the day." Jared nods before looking back to the double doors that you disappeared into, hoping it wouldn't take much longer than it already had.
He continued to sit in the small chair, his leg bouncing up and down uncontrollably while Jensen paced back and forth in front of him. Clif remained the calmest of the three, leaning against the wall next to Jared's seat, his eyes downcast most of the time.
The fall was horrific, something they thought they would only see in an actual movie. The way your body bounced and got flung onto the ground, it was like they were watching a rag doll fall from that window, not a real person.
Jared was sure that you hit your head, but there was no way to be sure. It all happened so fast. But either way, that scene just kept running on repeat in all their heads, not stopping until a doctor finally approached.
The man in scrubs gave them all a nod and a soft smile as he walked up to them. Jared hopped out of his chair and Jensen finally stopped pacing, but Clif remained against the wall, only his head lifting as he watched his men.
"Well?" The doc nodded, his eyes leaving Jared momentarily to look at the other two.
"She definitely has a small fracture in her wrist, but the worst is the fractures to her humerus."
"Fractures?" Jensen put emphasis on the 's', wondering if he heard correctly.
"Yes. It looks like when she hit the ground, her shoulder took all her weight."
"So...what? She going to need a sling? Cast?" Jared wondered aloud.
"A sling should do the trick. Probably about three weeks considering her situation. She should minimalize her movements so it can heal properly, especially for the first few days. But then some usage will be good after that, as long as she doesn't push it."
"Is she free to go then, or...." Jensen asked as it sounded like you were already taken care of.
"Well, considering how this happened, we're going to keep her overnight just to make sure that everything else is okay. But, as long as everything remains how it is now, she should be able to go home tomorrow."
Jared was careful as he opened the door, not sure if you would be sleeping or not, but hoping so, so that you could get a break from the pain you were in.
As the three men stepped into the room, they caught your eyes closed, but that changed as soon as the sounds of their footsteps got closer to the bed.
"Hey." All three deep voice whispers surrounded you, making a small smile tug at your lips.
"What are you guys doing here? You should be back at work."
"You kidding?" Jensen almost scolded as he came around the left side of the bed, his eyes not leaving you. "After a fall like that, you think we can just keep on keeping on? I don't think so." Jared's half smirk at his friends comment went unnoticed by you, but his hand landing on your blanket covered thigh didn't.
"How ya feeling?"
"Better, now that the pain killers set in." you glanced between the three, your smile growing when you saw all of their loving ones shinning down on you. But just like them, the fall kept replaying over and over in your head. "I don't get how I did that."
"Us either." Jensen chuckled, forced by what you could tell. He was just trying so hard to keep the mood light. "You looked pretty center to me."
"Me too." Jared agreed, not knowing how you ended up so far off center. You seemed to get pretty downhearted after that, but before Jared could say anything to perk you back up, Jensen's phone went off and he quickly dug it out of his pocket while all eyes were on him.
"It's Rich."
"Is he okay?" The concern in your voice had Jensen quirking and eyebrow in your direction.
"Is he okay? Honey, he was freaking out. He was so worried about you." A few more rings filled the room before he looked back down to his caller ID. "He's probably wondering if we have news yet. I'm gonna..." he points his phone towards the door as he heads that way, and Clif gives a questioning look to Jared.
"It's okay, you can go with him." With a nod, the large bodyguard sends you a sweet smile and follows Jensen out of the room, Jared's eyes following until the door is closed. Sighing softly, your eyes travel down your right arm, seeing it cradled perfectly in the black sling.
"How long do you think I'll be out of the job for this?" you chuckle nervously, despite trying to make a joke.
"Don't worry about work, okay." his comforting, sweet smile stares you down for a moment before he moves around to the other side of the bed, probably feeling safer to be away from your injured arm. But you can't help but notice him eyeing your wrapped arm, a hint of a smirk growing.
"You look like me from the beginning of season ten." his voice trails of into a light laugh at the end and you can't hold back your own laughter either; though painful, you can't stop it from happening.
"Yeah, after that "demon" attacked you." you laugh a little more, but he glares at you as he takes a seat in one of the empty chairs. Or, at least he tries to. The seriousness behind it doesn't last long with your adorable laughter, so he just sits there, shaking his head and fighting his smile while you laugh it off.
"Thanks for the air quotes." he attempts at being stern, but again, fails miserably with your wide smile lighting up the room.
Once the pain gets to be too much and you bring your laughter to a close, you sigh softly as you let your head fall back against the pillow, and that's when Jared's smile completely fades.
A slight wince had you pulling your head back up, but the movement must have caused more pain than you expected, making you cringe and your eyes squeeze shut.
"You okay?" Jared was out of his seat in seconds, helping you sit up as he saw you trying to do so solo.
"The pillow..." Seeing how far your head had gone back, he went with his gut and figured you needed it fluffed or at least another one behind you to help you sit up more. His eyes instantly searched the room before he thought to look under the bed. Sometimes they have extras shoved under there.
"Here we go..." With one swift yank, another pillow appeared and he situated it behind you while trying to hold you still so he could keep you from feeling any more pain.
"There we go. How's that?" he pushes on the sides of the pillow a few more times, making sure they're both fluffy enough to hold you upright and then he helps you sit back, making sure you're not going to sink in again as he keeps his hands on your back and left shoulder.
With his hands still in place and his face mere inches away from yours, a burning desire for the freakishly tall man comes to haunt you again. But instead of blushing and turning away like you would usually do, you stared into those hazel eyes that you loved so much while they stared back at you.
"G-good." A breathy whisper was the best you could do.
You felt like you needed to blink, but you didn't want to, afraid that you'd miss something. Afraid that maybe you would wake up and none of this would be real. Maybe you fell harder than you thought and hit your head, and you were just going to wake up to an empty hospital room. Well, you couldn't be having that.
Seconds later his eyes dropped from yours, clearly looking down at your chapped lips, so you quickly run your tongue across them, making sure they were anything but cracked and unkissable.
"So, Dick's downstairs with a few others...." Jensen voice made you both jump. You barely heard the door open before he poked his head in. Definitely not enough time to pull yourself together. "They just want to make sure you're alright with their own eyes, so...I'm gonna head down and bring them up here."
"Okay." Jared's slightly strangled voice answered before you had to, and you only hoped Jensen didn't catch it.
"Be right back." You both watched as Jensen disappeared once again, the door latching shut behind him this time. The slight awkwardness lingered in the air for a minute or two more, but then you scoffed quietly, your eyes dropping to your arm once again.
"Great. Time for a pity party. This should be...." you were cut off as you turned back to Jared.
His lips were on yours before you could even see it coming, but his right hand sliding across your cheek and into your hair had you melting into the pillows he had just propped up for you. He made sure to watch where he leaned, but he melted with you, letting his hand disappear somewhere between the back of your head and the sterilized pillow case.
In your opinion, he pulled away too soon. But, even if you had died of suffocation, it still would have been too soon. You never wanted his lips to leave yours.
But his smile shined down on you, his nose lightly brushing against yours before he pulled away a little more; just enough to look you in the eye.
"I'm so glad you're okay."
