I noticed this too. I was especially 👀 when he specifically said something along the lines of "you aren't the 35 year old version of yourself I remember" [paraphrasing] referencing a friend and how they had changed from how he remembered or thought about them... I know given he's 40 and a lot of his friends are around the same age, that could be a reference to anyone but just the way he said it had me thinking. Although to be fair, I was thinking that during that whole part of the convo when he was talking about friends/people you know changing and needing to see if the basis of the relationship is still there. ESP when he talked about fighting with people and how you have to decide whether the relationship base is strong enough to get through it or to decide to basically cut ties. It's not the first time he made a comment like that and I think that is very telling.

Jared doesn't normally join Gen's book discussions so you know that this one in particular really struck a chord with him and it's likely because of the way the book talked about changing relationships and figuring out how to navigate them.

I think Emily was the one who brought up the point about deciding if a relationship is worth sticking through, but Jared definitely expounded on that and about how to get through that. I really liked his quote, "Life is a series of second chances."

He did end by saying the following, which I think is likely good way to look at things, regardless of where certain relationships are at the moment: "What I got a lot from this as well... I feel like when I give somebody permission to grow and change, I, in turn, give myself permission to grow and change, so it sounds altruistic, it ends up feeling kind of selfish... 'oh, well this isn't who they are anymore, and that's okay. Well, wait a second, I'm not who I used to be, and that's okay,' even if some people still have you saved as 25-year-old Jared... give them the allowance, I think it helps us all."

I think we can all agree that an accurate summary of this is: Jared loves and lusts after Jensen x1000 even after all this time (those quotes range from ye very early days to now) and it’s a beautiful, beautiful thing.

And vice versa, obviously, but that’ll be for a second post!
